New York-2 more terrorists arrested
These two guys could be your next door neighbors, but some of the stuff in this article is even more chilling.
One is a Florida doctor and the other is a self-described martial arts expert (apparently a jazz musician by night). The Boca Raton doctor, Rafiq Abdus Sabir, 50, and and Tarik Shah, 42, became enthusiastic followers of al-Qaida and Osama bin Laden before they were arrested on terrorism charges, according to court papers released Monday.
They were arrested Friday on a charge that they conspired to provide material support to al-Qaida, an FBI agent said.
An 18-page complaint unsealed on Monday repeatedly described Shah’s zest to train “brothers” for urban warfare. It alleged both men pledged their allegiance to al-Qaida during a May 20 meeting on the first floor of a Bronx apartment.
“Shah indicated that his `greatest cover has been’ his career as a professional’ jazz musician,” wrote Brian Murphy, the FBI agent who prepared the complaint.
Shah also discussed a desire to start a martial arts school only for Muslims and said he hoped to be trained in chemicals, explosives, firearms, AK-47 assault rifles and hand grenades, the complaint said. The defendant allegedly discussed martyrdom with the informant, saying he and Sabir had been persecuted for many years.
On April 1, 2004, Shah was meeting with the informant when he exchanged smiles with a girl standing nearby, the complaint said. Shah allegedly turned to the informant and said, “I could be joking and smiling and then cutting their throats in the next second.”
That is pretty damned chilling…!
Update: The muslims are coming to the defense of these two, claiming they’re not terrorists, they’re “good muslims”. Yeah, so is Osama Bin Laden.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Jennifer Brown requested no bond because she said Sabir was a flight risk and a “danger to the community.”
Apparently there’s quite a difference in style between the two men, the doctor being more subdued than the jazz musician:
Sabir showed no outward signs of emotion Tuesday, wearing a blue prison outfit, handcuffs and leg shackles. He spoke calmly when he answered Hopkins’ questions.
Shah, on the other hand, smiled and waved to supporters at his initial hearing Tuesday in federal court in Manhattan, the Associated Press reported.

It figures that the media isn’t even playing this on national television. Probably because it would confirm that “Bush was right.”
