BAGHDAD, Iraq Nov 20, 2005 — U.S. forces sealed off a house in the northern city of Mosul where eight suspected al-Qaida members died in a gunfight some by their own hand to avoid capture. A U.S. official said Sunday that efforts were under way to determine if terror leader Abu Musab al-Zarqawi was among the dead.

Read this article on Bin Laden’s “courage” with regard to how similar these people are to the Japanese Kamazis and the Nazis–that they’d rather commit suicide for the cause than be captured. Of course there are people like Saddam who didn’t follow his own advice–but I gather Bin Laden has an aide close by who will deliver the fatal bullet…and then he’ll be touted as a “martyr” by Islamofascists and the story will be promulgated that he died gloriously in battle, when in reality he died a coward in an underground bunker chewing on khat–like Hitler, who was medicated by his physicians up until the end.

On Saturday, police Brig. Gen. Said Ahmed al-Jubouri said the raid was launched after a tip that top al-Qaida operatives, possibly including al-Zarqawi, were in the house in the northeastern part of the city.

There is a similarity between this current story about Zarqawi’s demise and the deaths of Saddam’s sons.

During the intense gunbattle that followed, three insurgents detonated explosives and killed themselves to avoid capture, Iraqi officials said. Eleven Americans were wounded, the U.S. military said. Such intense resistance often suggests an attempt to defend a high-value target.

Ho-hum. Another boring news day. I will believe this when I see it…these bodies were all burned beyond recognition which is why they’re going to do a DNA analysis. In the meantime, I’m not going to hold my breath.
