Leftist Columbia U and Jack Idema

If you’re looking for pieces on Jack Idema and his team, please click on this link.

I’m playing around with different views of the tremendous Jack Idema story. My affliction seems to be deriving a certain amount of pleasure analyzing and put together data. I’m developing quite a file on this. Actually, I’m developing several good files of information all related to the Jack Idema case. You may wonder what the connection between Columbia U and Jack Idema is…I’ll leave that for him to tell….but uffice it to say, there is a documented connection between those who are attacking his military record, his history with special forces, and at least one website which was created for the sole purpose of discrediting Jack Idema. So, I thought I’d do a little research–because that’s my “thing”.

This article at AIM dated June 2005, talks about Victor Navasky, co-owner of the notoriously leftist publication The Nation, who apparently took over running the Columbia Journalism Review, even though he’s not listed on their “masthead”.

Of course, the people who uncovered this little tidbit weren’t writers for the New York Times or the WAPO, they were bloggers. Read the article at AIM. Think about the incredibly leftist spin at CJR and the plain and simple fact that there are no conservative columnists in the leftist rag coming out of Columbia U, and think about what that leftist spin really means.

Sounds to me as though Navasky is going to great lengths to make certain that a point of view other than a leftist one–never hits the airwaves.

I had a commenter swing by and say this about Idema:

I am a left wing, bleedin’ heart liberal. But the obligation of a liberal is to protect the weakest of the weak. To insure the Consitution remains intact and the Bill of Rights is handed down to the next generation in the same condition I received it. The liberal agenda is to vehemently protect and advocate the rights of the accused as innocent until proven guilty in a court of law, with due process and a jury of peers. The liberal agenda is to be willing to fight and bring to justice anyone who threatens those rights. I for one have strong disagreements with the way our Commander in Chief has conducted the War on Terror, but I realize that to bring about change, we must operate on the orthodoxy of or consitution and that is the Bill of Rights. If I must stand side by side with Bill O’Reilly to save American lives and those of our allies, I will do it. Because the liberal agenda means striving for the greater good over personal gain. As my Granny always said: “There are three sides to every argument, the right, the wrong and the truth.” The truth will prevail, and Jack, and Brent and Ed will all be freed. Peace and love Y’all.

This is an example of a guy who hasn’t drifted over to where the people at Columbia are sitting, obviously. He still understands the true meaning of “patriotism”, and supports Jack’s efforts to hunt down Bin Laden.

Let’s just bear in mind that there are leftists–EXTREME LEFTISTS– who are hellbent on destruction and terrorism, like those members of Green Peace and the Ruckus Society who are defined by the FBI as domestic terrorist groups. These people are way, way to the left on the political spectrum and conduct terrorist training here in the US, where they learn the art of rappeling down the sides of buildings, setting cars on fire, how to provoke police to violence so they can claim to be “victims” of “police brutality” at protests, etc.. These are the people we are now facing; like Zach Exley (*previously of Moveon.org fame and a Ruckus trained online expert), who took over as the online guru for John Kerry’s campaign.

Let’s also bear in mind that these extremist groups are vehemently ANTI-MILITARY, and which Rocco DiPippo describes at Frontpage in this article entitled “The Left’s War Against the Military At Home”

Faced with a flagging anti-war movement, leftist agitators have shifted gears and are now subverting the War on Islamist Terror by trying to destroy America’s ability to maintain a fighting force.

It would seem to me as though attacking Jack Idema would fall directly in line with this strategy. Regardless as to whether or not he’s active military, that’s really not the issue here, although they try to make it one, spinning their little web of lies–even bringing DynCorp into the discussion as though it even had any relevance. This is not only a good case of “bait and switch” on the part of these people, this is “do as I say not as I do”.

But…I digress.

Interestingly, Mariah Blake’s career at CJR was short-lived. Her name is no longer visible anywhere at CJR. It’s a shame, because I’m certain there are a lot of people who would love to talk with her. And FYI for the Cabal–I never said that Blake was running that other website. Quite the contrary, what I’ve been maintaining all along is proving itself with the leftist hysteria, the introduction of Kathryn Cramer into the mix, (who is also a graduate of Columbia U), and many other factors.

All of the adventures the Wide Awakes have had with leftists in the blogosphere have culminated to this shining moment; and the trolls that are showing up are recognizable from the past, and we’re all laughing about it. The invisible thread that once connected them is now becoming more and more visible, and this is a triumph-not only for Jack, but for the due diligence of TWA members and the members of the Free Jack Idema blogburst.

Here is some more information that I stumbled upon over at David Horowitz’s Frontpage Magazine. Whenever I stop by, I always find something interesting, and this morning I was searching for information on Columbia Journalism Review and/or Columbia U. David’s group never disappoints.

Discover the Networks has more, and they even have a blog post entitled Political Sleaze at the Columbia School of Journalism at Moonbat Central.

I’ll just take a couple of excerpts from each. First, from Discover the Networks (which exposes individuals and organizations for their leftist ideology and “accomplishments) here are some highlights worth noting about Columbia U’s school of Journalism:

# The only journalism school among Ivy League universities
#”All my professors come from The Nation and the Village Voice. There is not a single identifiable conservative on the Columbia Journalism faculty.” — Columbia School of Journalism student

#Graduates of the Columbia Journalism School have populated America’s establishment print and broadcast media and disseminated its values.
# Faculty includes Victor Navasky, Todd Gitlin, Eric Alterman

Some of this should be absolutely no surprise when you carefully go over what these people have written, claiming only professors have the ability to ascertain what is true and what is not. The Ivy League elitist graduate or student is so thoroughly brainwashed, they see no problem with this rhetoric.

This faculty includes the leftwing publisher and editorial director of The Nation magazine Victor Navasky; a well-known anti-war leftist and former president of the New Left Students for a Democratic Society Todd Gitlin; the President and Executive Producer of Bill Moyers’ Public Affairs Television Inc. (and former Dean of the Journalism School) Joan Konner; a former Clinton/Gore speechwriter who worked with fellow Clintonite Rick Kaplan on ABC television documentaries and with Bill Moyers, Andie Tucher; Eric Alterman, author of Whose Liberal Media? and columnist for The Nation, MSNBC and other entities (as temporary adjunct faculty member); and other faculty members equally and without exception on the political Left.

And then from Moonbat Central:

Our good friends over at the David M. blogspot and the Mediacrity blogspot have been doing a truly phenomenal job of exposing the political sleaze in the Columbia School of Journalism. CSJ is the school of journalism at the Columbia Madrassah on the Upper West Side. Yes, the same campus in which Joseph Massad jihads and Edward Said pouted.

I have blogrolled David M. annd Medicacrity, I would love to see more exposure of the leftist spew coming out of CJR.

Navasky is a leftwing extremist who defended Joseph Massad and denounced those who criticized him as “McCarthyists”, denounces patriotism and patriots, including in the movies, and is the country’s leading anti-anti-communist. Navasky equates anti-Communists with the followers of the late Senator Joseph McCarthy. According to Navasky their real agenda is “to discredit the left-liberal project today.” Some people see “The Nation” as a propaganda mouthpiece for communism.

So this is where they get that obnoxious “how patriotic are you?” and “very patriotic of you!” You know, you really could take a trip over to Romania to see how it’s done….or perhaps all you have to do is read Soj over at KOS.

Well now I have a clearer understanding of what really lies in the dark recesses of these small elitist minds. And now I also have an idea of where these “secret agents” going to Kabul to “pay Jack a visit” may have graduated from. I never heard about that dinner engagement, and it was rather rude of them not to RSVP when Jack extended such a nice invitation for dinner and drinks. *sigh* Well perhaps they’ll get another opportunity soon. I know he’s looking forward to it.

Hero’s of Sniggering From The Left …

Not only are various members of the right hemisphere blogging on Jack Idema, the lefties have taken up the cause … in their own special way, as viewed through the looking glass …

Quoting from “moonbatcentral” makes your argument totally lose credibility.

“Graduates of the Columbia Journalism School have populated America’s establishment print and broadcast media and disseminated its values.”

That would be damn compelling if it were totally true, however you may be surprised to find nearly as many Columbia grads at historically conservative news sources (such as fox news) as you will at any village voice, or the like. Its core values aren’t to spread some evil doctrine, but rather to let its students become damn good journalists. And hell, every institution has its kooks, that doesn’t mean the entire university believe those bats. I’m a Columbia student and am no closer to following Navasky as I am to Stalin!

And I’m not elitist, thank you.
