I was born in Cuba and an American by choice when I became a citizen in 1977. I love this country and I do not consider myself a latina or a hispanic. I detest those terms I am an American and I do not support illegal immigration and the protests. I don’t even support the wet foot dry foot law. My family and I came to this country legally in 1962 and I am not an immigrant I am a political refugee. My family and I are not the same Cubans that come to this country today and a year and a day later are back in Cuba on vacation. We have not been to Cuba in 44 years. I don’t understand why Americans can’t understand that illegals have no rights and if it is so bad here why are they fighting to stay. Anyone that speaks or undertands Spanish (and is honest about it) can tell you that these people want to “take back” the country that they think is rightfully theirs. They seem to forget that they lost the war. President Fox has to different views of his northern and southern borders. Anyone that they catch coming into their southern border is turned away immediately. My concern is what about terrorists. When they see that they can give some dollars to these poor people and they can cross the border and harm us they will definitely thake advantage of it and it will only be a matter of time.

Actually, Yat, Zoe is making a very important point. She has assimilated, and her family doesn’t ‘cherish’ Cuba, and they haven’t been back there in 44 years.
That says a lot.

Don’t listen to SSgt Yatahey. Guy sounds like he was hit to hard as a child, not being able to make distinctions.
Zoe, I know the difference between political refuge and what is really out there in the dark. Thank you and thank your family for assimilating.
The guy in the video, how can we help him and his family and his apprentice and his family? His work looks good. If I was a contractor I would want him on the job site.
I know many people at the college I attend that can’t determine the difference between legal and illegal, let alone whether a person is an American or an immigrant.
Its the things that this guy said and what Zoe said in her commentary that remind me why we are so God-damn close to losing this country.
And as I’ve said in private, when the American people know what their politicans have done to them, what the Big Business and Big Labor and all the many little groups that are serving to pull us apart as a people have done to them, it will not end well for them.
