Too many psychos, too little time
There have been some horrific news stories that I couldn’t believe.
This is the first one that drew my attention this week.

We’re assuming the woman in this photo is the victim. The victim was dragged behind a truck for over a mile, leaving a trail of blood on the pavement. Her body was recovered in a quiet bedroom neighborhood; an autopsy was conducted on the body; cause of death was determined to be asphyxiation and head injuries from being dragged behind the vehicle. Her face was mutiliated beyond recognition. The man in custody appears to be the man in this photo; this photograph was recovered next to the body, so I think just about everyone is assuming that the woman in the photo is the poor woman who was dragged to death behind that vehicle. This happened in Colorado.
Update: The dragging victim has been identified. The woman was a mother of three, all of whom are in Mexico, and her name was Luz Maria Franco-Fierros. She was a 49-year old resident of Glendale, Colorado, her family in Mexico is being notified. She was allegedly the girlfriend of Jose Luis Rubi-Nava. Jose is a 36-year old Mexican immigrant who was charged through an interpretor with first degree murder. He is also wanted for immigration charges, so I’m assuming he’s also an illegal.
Next, we have a couple who ‘kidnapped’ their full-grown daughter and tried to force her to have an abortion. That’s right, and apparently racism was the motive? The girl is pregnant with a black man’s child, allegedly, and the parents assumed she wasn’t in her right mind and went to extraordinary lengths to get her to end the pregnancy. She apparently ‘escaped’ the evil clutches of her parents, and they are now in custody in Maine.
Next, we have a strange battle between feuding inlaws which ends at a baseball game and three people end up dead. I was reading the news reports on this one, and apparently the man who opened fire was the grandpa. The child that was playing at this game was the pawn in a game between feuding parents over custody. The father had been awarded custody, and the mother apparently has some headaches of her own. She’s pregnant, and has a new husband, but this didn’t stop her daddy from opening fire on her former inlaws. The poor grandson was walking among their bodies…with absolutely no expression. The kid’s name is Austin Shands…his paternal grandparents are dead, his father is in the hospital having sustained some serious injuries-and it was apparently his maternal grandfather who pulled the trigger. This happened in Dandridge, Tennessee at a baseball field called “the Field of Dreams”. The whole episode gives me the creeps.
More here, here, and here.

Lastly, I’m going to add the bizarre story of Anna Nicole Smith’s son’s death. He was reportedly visiting his mom, Anna Nicole Smith, in the hospital where she’d just given birth to a baby girl (whose father, freelance reporter Larry Birkhead, recently gave an interview with Victoria Recaño for an Entertainment Tonight broadcast.), “Hannah”. Where this story takes a left turn if it isn’t already weird, is Anna Nicole Smith sold pictures of herself, Daniel, and Hannah for an estimated $650,000. These are pictures of Daniel just hours before he passed away. The circumstances around his death remain a mystery, the cause of death not yet determined.
Hey, wait, we have another one, courtesy of Conservative Culture! This one can hardly be believed. A woman in San Francisco threw her children to their deaths in the San Francisco bay off a peer where tourists stroll along the waterfront. She stripped them first, and her youngest laughed, because he thought it was a game. She is claiming innocence e.g., not guilty by reason of insanity. Her children were ages 6, 2 and 16 months; and according to one report, she described how she STRUGGLED WITH THEM before she threw them into the chilly water. One of their little bodies has been recovered. Supposedly she did it because ‘God commanded her’ to. She’s also allegedly a paranoid schizophrenic. What in the hell was this woman doing with her children alone if she’s mentally ill, and was she taking her medication? Didn’t anyone see warning signs? Supposedly she’s talking to herself, rocking, laughing, smiling to herself, exhibiting classic signs of mental illness.
These are just more examples of a world gone completely mad…I can barely comprehend what would drive any of these individuals to do these things.

The dragging story stunned me for about 10 minutes this morning. Mostly from the horror of it all, but because I don’t see Jesse Jackson or Al Sharpton protesting in the street or Blaming Bush for it happening.

I live in Maine, and the weirdest thing about the case is the DA is now saying she’s in no rush to file charges against them. Unbelievable.
