Camp Pendleton 8
The outrage about the treatment of our guys continues as we watch three republican senators argue about how many rights we give terrorists under the Geneva conventions when the terrorists don’t recognize them and would never sign them. Does that make any sense to you?
This goes far beyond the Jack Idema story right now to OUR OWN soil in the story of the Pendleton 8, 7 marines and a navy corpsman, who’ve been held in the brig at Camp Pendleton awaiting the trial of their charges of alleged kidnapping and murder.
Now here we have guys who are facing charges being held in shackles, and their defense attorneys are being denied any of the evidence that could be used to clear them!
The charges are according to the accounts of 52-year old Hashim Ibrahim Awad’s neighbors in a terrorist neighborhood called Hamdaniya. Supposedly these marines and the corpsman grabbed him from his house, put him in a hole, shot him repeatedly, and rigged the scene afterwards to appear as though he was a terrorist planting a bomb.
What’s the U.S. government afraid of in terms of allowing the defense attorneys to see the evidence? Might it reveal the guy was really a terrorist and the neighbors are terrorist sympathizers? It’s not as though we’ve never heard of a case like that before, is it?
Read this by Rick Amato at Townhall.
And Beth’s Blue Star Chronicles. They are now facing court martials, and what I’d like to know is…are our guys’ defense attorneys ever going to be allowed to see all the evidence?

Have you ever sat in on a military trial? Military courts play by different rules compared to civilian courts — if they would take this off-base, the Prosecutors would have no choice, other than to share ALL evidence to the Defense.

So in other words if I get this correctly…in a military court, the defense isn’t allowed to see the evidence or to face their accusors?
September 28th, 2006 at 9:37 pm
No; you misunderstood me — the Defense Counsel is allowed to see whatever “evidence” JAG wants them to see; but, yes — “sometimes” the accused get the chance to face their accusors; provided it doesn’t jeopardize any evidence that may / may not surface.
Kinda sucks green donkey dicks, doesn’t it?

I appreciate all of you taking the time to report on this and I look forward to reading more at your sites.

This has to do with an individual who only pimps her own posts and blog; and does little to help others. It’s not really for the sake of helping Americans, because it’s not applied across the board. If someone supports the rights of some American and ignores the rights of others, then I have a problem with that inconsistency.
I also have a problem with someone who is outraged when I block her in instant messaging, so she comes to my blog to pimp her sorry self, even though her blog is supposed to be in the top ten mil blogs according to the army times. She’ll never be big enough, she’ll never be good enough, she’ll never be popular enough, and she’s not beneath picking fights and exposing private conversations because she has little respect for anyone but herself.
Are you seeing a trend here?
This is a personal conflict with someone who can’t or won’t leave things private. She can’t stand that I don’t hold her opinion, that I disagree with her, because I guess in her world, everyone should agree with her because she’s so damned right all the time. For example an instant messaging conversation. She pulled it out and printed it for everyone in the WAR Radio hosts group to read, who had nothing to do with the original conversation. She’s a loose cannon, in my opinion. Hysterical.
I would venture to say that most people don’t behave that way, her celebrity is turning her into a monster. Or perhaps it’s her craving for celebrity. Either way, I don’t have much use for it.

Wow, didn’t mean to step into a personal fight. Sorry. I’ll come back some other time…
September 30th, 2006 at 9:35 am
I’m sorry you feel that way. If you’d like to discuss, you know where to find me.
September 30th, 2006 at 9:36 am
You know I feel that way, Kit, and you brought this on yourself. So shut the hell up and stay away from me.
September 30th, 2006 at 9:50 am
It’s Kit who brought this here, I wouldn’t have mentioned it.
September 30th, 2006 at 10:01 am
Umm, Cao, you do realize other people are reading this, right?
September 30th, 2006 at 10:15 am
Yeah she knew I would react, right after I blocked her in instant messaging. The timing of her comment is impeccable considering she hasn’t left a comment here in ages; I haven’t seen her cross post to a single post of mine here, EVER (except for the one about Uncle Jimbo being a fake and that was naturally to ***** about me). But she insists my readers go over to Euphoric Reality.
Supporting one another’s posts on stories like the Innocent 8 is a good thing. But when it’s completely one-sided I have to turn off the switch.

“Euphoric Reality” — from what we’re reading, she needs to change the “Reality” to something that suits her mental state by the way she attacks you!
So, Kit — this Bud’s for you !!!

I was under the impression that this was a post about the P8 and how we can help them. I did not realize this would turn into a Jerry Springer blogfest.
NC Patriot, thanks for the link, I will be sure to check out the site and the information. Our troops deserve our support ABOVE ALL OTHER THINGS.

That should then include Jack Idema and Brent Bennett, but that isn’t a subject Kit Jarrell would touch.
So this weekend, as we await news to of Jack Idema’s life or death situation, I would ask that people consider that this is a difficult time…I am, at this moment, waiting for word on Jack’s death, and Brent Bennett’s location and/or condition, since I understand he left his posessions and clothes, and was half-dressed and gave a good fight, and was beaten in the process at one point in the Al Qaeda part of the prison.
At least the Innocent 8 are not facing the Taleban and Al Qaeda, or the Afghan National Army, and aren’t contemplating their deaths; they’re contemplating their court martials and legal expenses.
Jack Idema might not be fortunate enough to come out of this alive, and Brent Bennett, according to the American Embassy in Afghanistan, isn’t at Pulacharke and isn’t in Afghanistan anymore. We don’t know who has him, I spoke with some members of his family last night, and they are worried sick. I’ve spoken with Idema supporters also, and they are extremely upset over all this, too.
Brent and Jack are Americans, and that used to mean something. But that doesn’t matter to some people, I guess. To me, the situation with these guys is not that different than the Innocent 8; they deserve our gratitude and support for what they’ve sacrificed and done. They deserve our support for having the balls to fight. The similarities between the cases are interesting, too, and I think it’s a damned shame.
We should all rise above, but in actuality, some people only support some Americans some of the time.

BigDog — you’re correct about the entry pertaining to the CamPen8 … it’s unfortunate that one whining individual prefers the “Jerry Springer” show.
Let’s go forward, and hope we read some good news involving all of this!
September 30th, 2006 at 4:37 pm
News reports indicate that Brent Bennett, is, in fact, on his way home. So at least we can set our minds at ease about one of our American POWs. But we’re still awaiting news about Jack.
The story about the P8 will continue, I’ll keep watching.
September 30th, 2006 at 7:20 pm
Cao — thanks for the update on Brent … I don’t have a good feeling about Jack.
September 30th, 2006 at 7:26 pm
I keep praying about it. For some reason I just feel as though…this is the real live in-the-flesh Jack Bauer. If anyone will live to tell this tale, it will be Jack Idema.
September 30th, 2006 at 8:42 pm
Oh, and by the way, Bennett did not leave voluntarily, it took 25+ soldiers to take him. Obviously he was unarmed since no one is dead. You need to interview him on what happened.
“Leave No Man Behind” is right. He was fighting the whole time to stay, and Banderes has returned to the prison and is refusing to leave Jack.
But I really think you need to get the story from someone of how Idema held off 50+ soldiers. That is freakin hysterical. A tale I will tell my grandchildren.
My bets are it won’t be long before Bennett is back with Idema and Banderes continuing their fight together again.
September 30th, 2006 at 9:19 pm
You know, Dan, someone else said that to me today about Brent going back…
