Bible verses plugin
The Bible verses plugin is now engaged! I got it from Imagine Kitty.
Now bible verses will look like this:
Romans 16:17Now I beseech you, brethren, mark them which cause divisions and offences contrary to the doctrine which ye have learned; and avoid them. - King James Version

This is so cool, but for some reason it’s only working on the hard-nosed skin. So I’m going to have to figure out how I get it to work properly, with the frame or border around the quote, on the other skins. Thanks for the great plugin! And Merry Christmas!

Cao - how does this work? Are we able to use the beginning / ending tags, and just insert verses, or is this just something only you can use?
December 23rd, 2006 at 11:24 am
I’m putting it here with spaces, don’t use spaces to do it. [ bible]John 3:16[ /bible]

John 3:16For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. - King James Version
It only works on the hard-nosed skin right now.

Kewl - thanks, Babe!

One question - do we need to include all of the text, or will it automatically populate the text based on the scripture typed in?
December 23rd, 2006 at 11:43 am
It automatically populates it with the text; there’s a huge database fueling this plugin.

Ephesians 5:15-1715See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise, 16Redeeming the time, because the days are evil. 17Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is. - King James Version

Luke 2:1-71And it came to pass in those days, that there went out a decree from Caesar Augustus, that all the world should be taxed. 2(And this taxing was first made when Cyrenius was governor of Syria.) 3And all went to be taxed, every one into his own city. 4And Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judaea, unto the city of David, which is called Bethlehem; (because he was of the house and lineage of David:) 5To be taxed with Mary his espoused wife, being great with child. 6And so it was, that, while they were there, the days were accomplished that she should be delivered. 7And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn. - King James Version
Luke 2:8-178And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night. 9And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid. 10And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. 11For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord. 12And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger. 13And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying, 14Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men. 15And it came to pass, as the angels were gone away from them into heaven, the shepherds said one to another, Let us now go even unto Bethlehem, and see this thing which is come to pass, which the Lord hath made known unto us. 16And they came with haste, and found Mary, and Joseph, and the babe lying in a manger. 17And when they had seen it, they made known abroad the saying which was told them concerning this child. - King James Version

The perfect Christmas message, Yat. Thanks.

You will have to change the style.css file in each skin to include the .quotehead, .verse, .nohead, .noverse, .copyright and sup definitions.

That podcast link is awesome! You’ll have to get me more information on that.
If you have any more questions about the Bible tags you can ask over at the development forum at: http://www.eaglesnestministries.com/test

The podcast link is automatic on every post, it’s a plugin, too. It’s called TALKR. I had to sign up and register an account with TALKR and install the plugin (from rayz.notdesign.net) to get it all to work. People are pretty good with putting out clear instructions to follow on these things, so adding these features has been fun. As far as I can tell, TALKR works off your RSS feed.
Every now and then I like to put something up in German, French or Italian, so it would be nice to know how to put bible verses up in different languages. I’m not quite ready to tackle that yet, though. Thanks for including that information in comments on this thread, it will be easy to remember where it is for reference!
Wow, I just saw that, I’ll go back and add that to the css files on each skin and see what happens, and probably test in comments on each one. Nope, that’s not necessary, already I change it on one, now I need to do it on the other two.
DONE! Thanks, Mark!

Way to go!!
If you want to post in german you will have to install a german bible on your server. Then just use the name of the bible in the tags like this:
[ bible= luther]John 1:1[ / bible]
December 23rd, 2006 at 7:18 pm
Whoops. it should look like [ bible=schlachter]Johannes 1:1[ /bible] but without the spaces
December 23rd, 2006 at 7:21 pm
Hmmm. Cao, I see some errors over on the right under Categories and Recent Posts and such. Did you use the same database that your blog is stored in to put all the bible text in?
It works better with a different database and a different username/password for that database. Let me know if I can help.

Yeah, there are still problems we’re working through back here. Thanks, Mark.
