video of hostages from Crescent Security released

By: Cao, Filed under: Afghanistan, Iraq & Military , General , Terrorism and Islam @ 2:06 pm

This is from about two days ago. I was debating about putting it up, but there are relatives contacting me who are concerned for their guys. According to the Sacbee, the men identified themselves on tape.

The men identify themselves as John Young, 44, of Kansas City, Mo.; Jonathan Cote, 23, of Gainesville, Fla.; and Bert Nussbaumer, 25, of Vienna, Austria, “Paul”, who is Paul Reuben from Minnesota, and Josh Munz, from California, USA.

Jonathan is the only one with visible signs of injury, slight bruising around his nose and red splotches on his face.

If anyone reading knows more, please contact me at cao at superpatriots dot us.

These four men remain in the hands of a little-known Shiite Muslim militant group that calls itself the “Mujahedeen of Jerusalem Company.” They were ambushed on Nov. 16 in the town of Safwan. Experts analyzing the tape say it was taken about a montha go.

The digital date on the recording is 14-4-2006, indicating the captors had not set the timer properly or had changed it.

Only the audio is available at this time.

Whoever the idiot is who is laughing in the background I’m assuming doesn’t realize the disrespectful sniggering is caught on tape. I’m assuming it’s an idiotic journalist who doesn’t realize or care that families are hanging on any word about their loved ones. McClatchy Washington Bureau (whatever that is) is the one that picked up the video and released the audio.

The clip was shown to McClatchy Newspapers in Baghdad on Tuesday night on condition that the provider’s name and other identifying details be withheld for security reasons.

I’m sorry for having a rather cynical view of journalists, but why protect the ‘provider’s’ name and other identifying details unless you’re covering for a terrorist kidnapper?

The provider said the video was shot in response to a demand for proof that the men were alive before negotiations for their release could begin. The provider was confident that the men are still living and remain in the hands of a little-known Shiite Muslim militant group that calls itself the “Mujahedeen of Jerusalem Company.”

Representatives of the U.S. military, the American Embassy and the men’s employer, the Kuwait-based Crescent Security Group, said they hadn’t known of the video and called it the first significant development since the kidnapping.

You can hear the audio here, too. I’m mortified for the families of these men. God bless them and keep them safe, that they return home to their families.

    […] Cao’s Blog has more on this as well–she caught this last week and posted the audio recording. The men identify themselves as John Young, 44, of Kansas City, Mo.; Jonathan Cote, 23, of Gainesville, Fla.; and Bert Nussbaumer, 25, of Vienna, Austria, “Paul”, who is Paul Reuben from Minnesota, and Josh Munz [also age 23 –ed.], from California, USA. Joshua Munns (correct spelling) is my grandson. We have been waiting for over seven months to get these men home. Nothing is happening and we are told nothing. If you can imagine yourselves in our place you can only assume how bad this is for us. We don’t know where to turn. Every place we DO turn to threatens us with reprisals.

  3. Cao Says:

    Good heavens, Carolyn! That is abominable. We must keep the story alive, but there is little to report…maybe I’ll just rehash what we already know to keep it out there.

  5. John Doe Says:

    I think the cameraman was coughing. Calm down. GEEZ!

  6. John Doe Says:

    Anyway, the five men are probably dead. Seven months of silence is obviously not a good sign.

  7. Cao Says:

    You mean the terrorist was coughing?

    Be careful what you say here, the families of the missing contractors are checking this blog. If you say anything that is disrespectful, I will not hesitate to nuke your comment.

  8. John Doe Says:

    Go ahead! Anyway, I’m not disrespecting the families. I can’t imagine what they are going through. I am saddened that the five men are still missing. Also, the group that kidnapped the men are criminals that want ransom. They are not insurgents or terrorists.

  9. Cao Says:

    Wow. Terrorists hold people for ransom, it’s in their playbook.

    Sounds like you know who’s holding them.

    Who is it. Karl Rove?

  10. John Doe Says:

    HA HA, no but you wish I believed that. I don’t belong to any party. Anyway, I’ll leave this far-right nutcase blog.

  11. Cao Says:

    No, I’m just trying to figure out where you’re coming from, :lol:

    And I’ll leave you to your business of dropping troll turds across the internet. :twisted:

  12. John Doe Says:

    You wish! :evil:

  13. John Doe Says:

    Is that a promise? Seems you can’t stay away, knowing the Leftie group isn’t that intelligent. :grin:

    You’re just jealous because your ugly-a$$ ol’ lady isn’t that great looking, and can only hold a spatula from being so weak around you. :mrgreen:

  15. John Doe Says:

    You ******* dumbass, I’m 19 years old. Jesus Christ, grow up. Quit messing with someone because of their political affiliation. I’m not a Democrat. It’s a shame you weren’t killed in Iraq. I would have loved to see your head in an ISI video.

  16. Cao Says:

    Nice language, punk.

  17. John Doe Says:

    You’re welcome. :)

  18. Cao Says:

    I didn’t say “thank you”…:twisted:. You have a problem understanding English?

  19. SSgt Yatahey Says:

    LOL @ John Douche-Bag … at a baby-faced 19, I can see you’re not grown up, as you said you were going to leave this Blog.

    FYI Sweet-Cheeks, I didn’t serve in Iraq and am old enough to be your Daddy — but, I guess you’re too much of a pu$$y and Mama’s BOY to sign up for the military and go do your duty in Iraq, so you can enjoy your freedoms, aren’t you?

    And…they will never see the light of day.

  25. whitney Says:

    can we please keep this in the right subject? we are talking about five people being held prisoner for gods sake. and joshua munns happens to be my cousin.

    i find the post-blasting of others and the discrimination and the jokes to be incredibly disrespectful.

    we need to work on getting our guys home. lets just hope that things arent too late. think about it. as the families, we dont even have an answer as to whether they are alive or if they are not. even an answer would be relieving. but the US Govt cant even give us that.

  26. Cao Says:

    Crescent Security Group is no longer in business…which leads me to believe the government is the only possible entity which can answer questions or has the resources to find out what happened to our guys.

    Cutting Costs, Bending Rules, And a Trail of Broken Lives
    Ambush in Iraq Last November Left Four Americans Missing And a String of Questions About the Firm They Worked For

    By Steve Fainaru
    Washington Post Foreign Service
    Sunday, July 29, 2007; A01

    BAGHDAD — The convoy was ambushed in broad daylight last Nov. 16, dozens of armed men swarming over 37 tractor-trailers stretching for more than a mile on southern Iraq’s main highway. The attackers seized four Americans and an Austrian employed by Crescent Security Group, a small private security firm. Then they fled.

    None of the hostages has been found, eight months after one of the largest and most brazen kidnappings of Americans since the March 2003 invasion.

    Crescent is shuttered, like dozens of other companies that have come and gone in Iraq’s booming market for private security services. The firm leaves behind a trail of broken lives and a record of alleged misconduct. In March, the U.S. military barred Crescent from U.S. bases after it was found with weapons prohibited for private security companies, including rocket launchers and grenades, according to documents and interviews with former Crescent employees and U.S. officials.

    An investigation by The Washington Post found that Crescent violated U.S. military regulations while being paid millions of dollars to support the U.S.-led mission in Iraq. The company routinely sacrificed safety to cut costs. On the day of the kidnappings, just seven Crescent guards protected the immense convoy as it drove through southern Iraq, a force that security experts described as inadequate to fend off a major attack.

    ~~~~~~
    As far as I can tell, the company’s website is not operational right now…I have been able to find little information on it…although Crescent Security’s ‘managing partner’ in Kuwait, Frank Picco, is quoted in the Washington Post saying he believes they’re still alive.
    “The fact is, what reason would they have to kill them, first and foremost?” he said. “And no one has found any bodies, you know? All the information we have tends us to believe that they are alive.”
    Unfortunately as far as I’ve been able to tell from past stories regarding jihadis killing Americans and coalition forces - they don’t need a ‘reason’. If you’re working with or for the ‘occupation forces’, that’s reason enough….
  27. stephen Says:
    I wish inexperienced and unintelligent people wouldnt comment on subjects as serious as kidnapped American hostages. Jon Doe who didnt even have the integrity to leave his real name made a comment on this blog where family members read that the hostages were prob dead, what a moron, do your homework on how kidnappers operate first before you write!
  28. Cao Says:
    Unfortunately there are a lot of inexperienced and unintelligent people who have the time on their hands to make the rounds to the blogs and comment, stephen..thanks for your comment.
  29. stephen Says:
    yes there are Cao, unfortunately there are plenty of people like that on blogs. I am heartsick for the families however recent news is somewhat encouraging relatively speaking. I dont see much concern from the American public, that is bad news. We need to somehow keep the pressure on to keep the story alive. It is very simple, you have various government agencies, ie- Military, FBI,State Dept, CIA, and hopefully private intel corporations looking for these guys. They work much better today then pre-911 however there are still many balls to be dropped. A now defunct private security companies former employees may not be A-1 priority for these bueracracies. The cover story today on MSN had a detailed overview on how the FBI stonewalled the NYPD terrorism task force basically shutting them completely out from all invaluable intel recently. We dont need power plays and giant egos clashing heads in this war, we need to all get along. From what I read some of the family members have had limited contact and support from our agencies. I would be willing to round up some of my own private security guys to go on a SAR mission to seek justice. I can also put the families directly in touch w/ the best k and r guys in the world, these are people w/ 100% repatriation records. I dont know that much about this case, I do believe no ransom has been demanded however k and r guys can still try to find them.
  30. John Doe Says:
    Well, all of them are dead now. RIP guys. :cry: Have a good life Cao/Linda Hamilton. Whitney, I am very sorry about your cousin’s death. :cry: Stephen, do you honestly think that I would be stupid enough to post my real name on the internet? Cao has the capability to track my IP and where I live. :roll:
    Anyway, rest in peace guys. :cry:
  31. John Doe Says:
    By the way, Linda Hamilton. I honestly don’t care what you think. You can call me stupid anytime you want. I may be a jackass but I have a heart. I am very sorry that they all died. :cry:
  32. John Doe Says:
    Anyway, we shouldn’t fight. We should mourn them and pray that the ******** who killed them get caught. They must pay for what they did to John. Joshua, Jonathon, Bert, and Paul. :evil:
  33. Cao Says:
    Idiot. Why would I bother trying to find out where you live? You overestimate your importance in my world.
    It’s leftists who like to do that kind of garbage….they’ve done it to me, they’ve done it to Michelle Malkin, and a number of others, thinking it’s funny.
    Basically “John Doe” is a coward and someone who posts comments that are in incredibly bad taste.
    May God bless and comfort the families and loved ones who were hoping one day they would return home alive.
    And may the terrorist scumbags who did this rot in hell.
  34. Cao Says:
    If you don’t care what I think, then stop coming back and fouling up my comments section.
  35. John Doe Says:
    I’m not overestimating my importance you far-right **** sucker. What’s the matter *****? Are you afraid I might offend you like when I fucked your daughter. She took it in the *** Linda. I must tell you she cummed all over me. It was quite an experience. I’ll **** your sister tomorrow. She loves sucking my ****.
  36. John Doe Says:
    I’ll talk to you tomorrow and we can talk all about my expeirence. You are my ***** so you have to get used to it. You will NEVER get rid of me redneck. I OWN you. :twisted:
    Who’s the idiot now *****? Die slow *****. Die slow. :twisted:
  37. John Doe Says:
    You started this flame war by insulting me and you and I are going to finish it.
    :twisted:
  38. Cao Says:
    I started a flame war with you? You said up there that you OWN me. Just who in the hell do you think you are?
    And I’m “flaming” your moonbatty sense of superiority by pointing out the obvious? That you’re rude, crude and socially unacceptable for saying what you did? Not to mention adding to it in subsequent comments? And who is calling people names, and telling someone to die? It isn’t me.
    GROW UP.
    In essence, it was Stephen that said it, on comment #27….but accuracy is never the strong point of moonbats….just as long as you can sneer at someone and call them a redneck, to make you feel big and important.
    #10, you said you’d leave this blog, and that was in July of 2007. When can I expect you to live up to your word?
    Well this will be easy to finish: All future comments from you will be deleted.
    :smile:
  39. stephen Says:
    Cao- what a relief to get rid of that kid, he has some serious problems, what he stated was blog harassment, unacceptable and completely defamatory. Our company does track down people like this on a regular basis. We need to; the FBI is too overwhelmed w/ cyberscams, fraud, web harassment etc.. Would this kid be able to get away w/ writing these disguisting comments at his high school or his college campus? Most certainly not, he would be arrested for aggravated harassment for starters, blogs shouldnt be treated any different. I want to send my sincere condolences to the grieving family members, may God Bless
  40. Cao Says:
    Sorry about that, everyone.
  41. Loyal Eagle Says:
    Just came by to say hello… “Hello.”
    BTW, I see the walking brain-dead, John Doe, posted. In answer to would he get “away w/ writing these disguisting comments at his high school or his college campus,” that would presume he had schooling. We’ve not discovered intelligent life on other planets as of yet, let alone schools.
  42. Cao Says:
    Hi, LE. Nice to see you.
  43. zgr8one Says:
    So who do the family’s of these young men turn to obtain the life insurance policies held on these young men? One of the reasons they laid their lives on the line was that if something did happen their family’s would be provided for! Come on Franco Picco! answer to these people!
