Federal court restricts sonar to defend America
What an interesting editorial from Investors Daily the other day!
Environmentalism: A federal court restricts the Navy’s use of sonar to defend America. Never mind that missiles fired from enemy submarines will harm the environment more than the sonar used to detect them.
Environmentalists are completely wackie…they also want to cut down trees and bury them to eliminate naturally occurring CO2 from invading the atmosphere. Their logic doesn’t make sense, although they’re reliably anti-war.
If any marine mammal comes within 2,200 yards of a ship using sonar, the Navy will have to cease its use immediately. In addition, the judge forbade the use of midfrequency active sonar in the Catalina Basin, an underwater canyon between Santa Catalina Island and the Navy-owned San Clemente Island.
Her order comes as the Navy is conducting training exercises involving active sonar that can find the superquiet submarines now in use by the navies of 41 nations.
The Navy argues that without training on this system, a sailor’s ability to detect enemy subs in real-life combat situations could be severely hampered. Active sonar, at various frequencies, has been developed over the past two decades to detect the diesel engines that have become quieter and harder to detect with passive sonar.
But they never pay attention to what the military says about time-tested training, time-tested interrogation techniques, how well the surge is working, or anything else. People nowadays are so insulated from what’s going on in the world, they think SNAFUs like this won’t have a detrimental effect. The courts should get out of the business of telling the military how to do things.

More tree hugging jurisprudence brought to you by the fruits and nuts in California!!!!
What a crock! I still think the Navy bases should be moved to Washington State, Oregon and even get an agreement with Mexico to put one in Baja!!! It doesn’t pay to put American tax dollars back into the economy and pockets of Californians obviously! (Kender must be very, very lonely there, being one of the minority of sane people!!!)
