Border Control Agents

I’m late to the party on this one, but Bear to the Right has a great piece up at the Wide Awakes, which gives a great overview of what happened in the case of Border Patrol agents Ignacio Ramos and Jose Alonso Compean.

This is an unbelievable story because instead of Aldrete-Davila, the drug smuggler racing any time for his crime, it’s Ignacio Ramos and Jose Alonso Compean who are facing some serious time.

Aldrete-Davila was, in fact, given ‘immunity’ for testifying against the border control agents! On top of that, Aldrete-Davila didn’t think much of his immunity deal, because he tried it again in October of 2005 with over 1,000 pounds of marijuana.

I had forgotten about the February incident after it happened, because it was a clear case of a drug dealer running away from authorities who got shot in the ass because he didn’t stop running. It seemed to me he deserved to be shot, and his injury didn’t prevent him from running, so how serious could it have been? What I didn’t realize is the ridiculous restrictions there are on border control agents which makes it virtually impossible to ‘control the border’. What does a criminal do when faced with authorities after a crime? He runs! Why does he run? To avoid arrest and/or confrontation which could lead to jail. It appears that the only way the border control police can do their jobs is if an illegal walks up to them and says “I’m illegal, so would you please handcuff me?” And even then, they could get in trouble because criminals now have a ‘civil right’ to be ‘free from detention’.

The perp, after he ran back to Mexico, cried to his mother, who turned to the mother-in-law of a Border Control agent, who then spoke with a member of Homeland Security, who travelled to Mexico to offer the drug smuggler immunity for his crimes in exchange for testifying against the border control agents who shot him in the ass.

He was given free medical treatment for his injury (one bullet), and then, because the drug smuggler received immunity for his crimes, he is now free to sue, so there is now a case against the federal government for $5 million, for a ‘civil rights’ violation. Something about his ‘civil right’ to be ‘free from detention’ or similar language. I didn’t know that illegals had any kind of rights at all, and I didn’t know that the government would ever turn a blind eye to drug smuggling, particularly when this guy was a repeat offender.

So in this alternative universe, criminals have a ‘civil right’ be ‘free from jail’. It’s like they have a permanent get out of ‘jail free card’. That must make the cops feel like what is the use to go to work every day? Either that, or they should resign themselves to eating donuts while illegals swim across the Rio Grande to the US side, and disappear for the safety of America, which will help them get a driver’s license, a bank account, and whatever else they need. Illegals have few restrictions and a lot of help these days.

Now if it isn’t in sane to talk about a drug smuggler’s ‘civil rights’ to be ‘free from arrest’ it’s even more in sane when you look at this ridiculous restriction:

Assistant U.S. Attorney Debra Kanof explained to the Sun, “It is a violation of Border Patrol regulations to go after someone who is fleeing.”

Ok, so you have ‘border control’ agents, but they’re really not being allowed to …’control the border!” Or…do their job. As Ramos said:

“How are we supposed to follow the Border Patrol strategy of apprehending terrorists or drug smugglers if we are not supposed to pursue fleeing people? Everybody who’s breaking the law flees from us. What are we supposed to do? Do they want us to catch them or not?”

The obvious answer? NO! And if you actually have the nerve to chase after the running illegals, the government will come after you, claiming their ‘civil rights’ have been violated, allowing them to sue the government for pain and suffering and whatever else they can cry about, and maybe even slip a little racist complaint in there, too. In the case of these two border agents, it appears as though they’re both hispanics, so that doesn’t fly, but if they were two white guys, can you imagine what they’d be facing?

Isn’t it bad enough that we’re a society turning into a sniveling bunch of idiots who support the rights of criminals and demonize, arrest and imprison the people we hire and pay who try to enforce the law? Stephen Pearcy, the anarchist, is all for this, he believes we should ‘hire more teachers’ and do away with ‘police’ altogether.

What ever happened to ’stop or I’ll shoot!”? I guess the police are being held to a ‘different’ standard. A standard from another dimension, where criminals, rapists, murderers and pedophiles get shorter sentences than people who are trying to uphold the law. This is, in effect, what has happened to Border Patrol agents Ignacio Ramos and Jose Alonso Compean, because they are now facing 10 years for shooting an illegal alien drug smuggler whose drug smuggling of over 700 pounds of marijuana was swept under the rug in favor of going after the cops who were pursuing him.

Which begs the question, why the hell doesn’t the Bush administration give a damn about the borders issue when it’s plain that the majority of Americans do not agree with abolishing the border to Canada and the border to Mexico and oppose NAFTA, CAFTA and the FTAA? And when it’s plain that we’re perfectly happy to have over 700 pounds of marijuana stopped at the border? And when we’d liike to see perps like this guy sent to prison with a hefty sentence-for not only being illegal-but for trying to bring with him illegal drugs?

[…] The President has pardoned drug dealers but for whatever reasons ha allowed some departmental policy to override the common sense that Americans deserve to protect their border. Why would anyone really want to be a border agent? They criminals just might be asked to testify against you when they came here in the first place to do harm to our society. Why is there even a delay on this is beyond most of us. Unless the message is… don’t protect the border. In addition we don’t want you to harm any potential voter that might come across. Why else would the National Guard be put on the border without guns? Thanks to Cao’s Blog for the hat tip. Feedbacks on this entry via RSS 2.0 Please leave a Comment or discuss via Trackback! […]

It’s a disgusting case. I am appalled at all the perks and benefits illegal immigrants get over American citizens. For those whose job it is to protect our borders, this is a screaming atrocity! We should set up a blog burst for this!!

Lou Dobbs raised a good question the other day on his news show, “Lou Dobbs Tonight”,

“Where’s La Raza and other groups that promote latino awareness on this issue?” For that matter wheres Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton?

Nobody important is coming out on this issue except for local representatives. Shame on them!
