what is the real goal behind Watada’s court martial?

Is the real leftist goal of Watada’s court martial to make ‘conscientious objectors’ legitimate? It would seem to me that is what they are striving for, but this is interesting:
As his court-martial got under way, military judge Lt. Col. John Head refused to allow almost all defense witnesses to take the stand. Head previously ruled that Watada’s attorney, Eric Seitz, could not debate the legality of the Iraq war in court.
With that strategy out of the way, I wonder what other legal maneuvers his lefty lawyers will pull.
It’s good to see that there are people countering the anti-war people:
Outside the base, a small group that included actor Sean Penn demonstrated in support of Watada. A few others demonstrated against him, including one man who carried a sign calling Watada a “weasel.”
Look, if our nation is in a military conflict, and our fighting forces are volunteer, I don’t see how you can expect to sign up and not be sent to the Middle East. Most, as a matter of fact, support the war, and that’s why they volunteer. Watada’s family has a history of ‘dissent’, which pro Castro Leslie Cagan characterizes as “patriotic”. heh. That is an definition of an anti-American position, but fits in with the empty slogans.

Conscientious objectors are legitimate. I have respect for, say, the German Quakers who wound up in concentration camps because they refused to fight for the Nazis.
But. How the hell can someone be labelled as a ‘conscientious objector’ when they’re already in the military??? Bluffer’s tip: if you don’t want to fight, don’t join an all-volunteer army at a time of war.
I have a nasty suspicion that this bloke is involved in some kind of anti-war stunt. They ought to throw the book at him.

Well, Rotty, I think Ward Churchill calls it ‘fragging’.
Thanks, Angel! I DO enjoy reading over there. It’s one of my new daily reads.
