On Mad Cows

By: Cao, Filed under: General , Health @ 8:13 pm

Just wanted to mention that recently while we were out to dinner with my parents, I had an Ostrich burger and my husband had a Buffalo burger, and we got into a brief discussion on Mad Cow disease.

The government, my parents concluded, is covering up the existence, prevalence or even epidemic of Mad Cow Disease in the United States. They personally know of two people who died from it, and it’s a horrible thing to watch as it progresses.

It’s about time they’re ‘looking into it’…but as my parents already concluded, it’s not in the national interest for the truth to be uncovered, so is there any doubt that it will be glossed over as non existent?

Here’s a link to a mad cow. Be careful, he’s pretty mad and he swears. I think the ending is pretty lame, though.

:neutral:A lot of people think this way. A lot of other people think Alzheimer’s Disease is really MCD. I don’t know. WHY would the government cover up this horrible disease but not others? Some people also think the government has cures for AIDS, cancer and other killer diseases; but won’t announce the cures so that the drug companies can continue getting rich. I have heard an MD say that high cholesterol isn’t responsible for heart problems! Who knows.

I was told right after Desert Storm that would not be able to donate blood because I had been shot up with Anthrax and Botulism vaccines that “tainted” my blood. My daughter went to give blood a couple of years ago and they informed her that she could not give blood because of the years we lived in England. My eyebrows went up a bit hearing that so I checked. Yep…not only am I banned because of the Antrhax and botulism, but becuase I lived in England in the early eighties…and that is the period Mad Cow apparently ran rampant in British beef…I cannot give blood…ever. So I guess I spent 3 years eating beef during one of the first M.C. breakouts, I’m just not gonna worry about it now. Besides, I determined that it’s inevitable that my time on earth will end by me being taken out by a “blue hair” in a Buick. They try just about every day.

What is it with blue hair, anyway? The first time I met my son’s girlfriend, she had a skull cap on, and coming out from it was blue hair. It turned out to be blue dred lock type extensions, but she projected a pretty far out image to her boyfriend’s mom!!!

Strange thing about Mad Cow Disease, I don’t know what to think. My parents are very smart folks, I was surprised that they were so matter-of-fact with their conclusions on the subject. Does anyone know how long of an incubation period it has? If you eat tainted beef do you start to die right then? Yeesh I can’t believe I’m even thinking about it.
