Leftist hate speech

Patterico has an interesting post up here. about Greenwald’s assertion that the only leftists who leave hateful remarks are trolls who leave anonymous comments on blogs. He has a very comprehensive list and is collecting more, as long as you provide a link and the precise quotation.

Here are some examples, but I think he makes his point very well: Greenwald isn’t exactly being honest with his glossing over the truth.

* National Public Radio legal affairs correspondent Nina Totenberg:

[I]f there is retributive justice [Sen. Jesse Helms] will get AIDS from a transfusion, or one of his grandchildren will get it.

* USA Today syndicated columnist Julianne Malveaux, on Clarence Thomas:

I hope his wife feeds him lots of eggs and butter and he dies early like many black men do, of heart disease.

* Washington Post syndicated columnist Richard Cohen:

For hypocrisy, for sheer gall, [Newt] Gingrich should be hanged.

* Comedian and (former) talk show host Craig Kilborn [Caption under footage of George W. Bush]:

Snipers Wanted

* Members of the St. Petersburg Democratic Club:

And then there’s Rumsfeld who said of Iraq “We have our good days and our bad days.” We should put this S.O.B. up against a wall and say “This is one of our bad days” and pull the trigger.

There’s more, but you get the point. What I’m surprised about is the fact that nobody has quoted Amanda Marcotte at Pandagon. Is he just collecting hateful comments by journalists? Would you consider Marcotte a prominent leftist figure? She became prominent, after all, when she blogged for the Edwards campaign.
