Crescent Security Contractors still missing

And the families are annoyed with the US Government’s apparent ambivelance to their plight. In fact, they’re crying out for help. (Minnesota Monitor, July 15, 2007)

“The government should offer help for all its citizens, not just those in uniform. It seems to me the government plays favorites,” said Young, Reuben’s mother and sister in tow.

Reuben and the other three Americans were all working for Crescent Security. They were kidnapped in November near the Kuwait border. Families said last time they heard about their loved ones was in December, when kidnappers released a video showing the four Americans and an Austrian.

And that’s the last anyone has heard. The American government doesn’t give a damn, Crescent Security has been cagey with the families, and there has been no word.

I can’t imagine would it would be like to be a family member awaiting any kind of word for this long.

The kidnappers demanded $150,000 but a fellow who has taken interest in this case has a contact who said they are now demanding more. He’s even put up a website, and plans to go back to Kuwait at the end of this month to see if he can secure their release.

It’s no wonder the kidnappers upped the anty.

If you want protection from the the US State Dept., you shouldn’t join a mercenary group. That is exactly why the US subcontracts private security forces. Big $$ for it to be someone elses problem, below the radar, without supervision or culpability.
You go to that area of the world knowing the risks, for MONEY. There are plenty of safe places to work in this world. The whining about the US goverment’s ambivalence never ceases to amaze me. Do the family members still think we went over there to liberate the Iraqis? Get a grip. Cote et al were nothing more then war profiteers. I pray for their families sake that they were smart enough to get good life insurance policies, nothing more.
