bathtime!

Lately I’ve fallen in love with the idea of a luxurious spa-type of bath that I can jump into at home. A luxury of my own making, if you will.

I stumbled across the idea of bath bombs on Amazon the other day - and a company called “Lush”. Lush makes some incredible-sounding bath bombs and other bath and body items - that are fresh and delicious-sounding. Some of them have a shelf life of only a few months because of the ingredients, which I like seeing. I hate the idea of having something on hand that will last forever…it reminds me of something preserved in formaldehyde.

A bath bomb is a modern-day item, which stems from the old-fashioned bath cube that would sit on the bottom of the tub and bubble a little bit. Bath bombs are more out-and-out decadent. For one thing, they come 2 1/4 or larger, and in various shapes and sizes. You can have a globe, a heart, or a tablet-looking thing like a giant aspirin. But they’re always fun-looking and the descriptions are scrumptuous.

romanceinastone.jpgthis one is called ‘romance in a stone’, by lush. the description is “overflowing with rose petals, reviving orange oil and a love poem. romance in a stone will fill you and your bath tub up with happy thoughts of love.” sounds tempting and intrigueing, doesn’t it? One of the comments on this one was:

This ball fizzes entertaininly and releases romantic rose petals. You feel like Bathsheba or Delilah in your tub. You have to put the bath bomb in a net bag or the petals get on the tub sides when you are done or— HEY YOU ARE CLEOPATRA SO LET THE SLAVES CLEAN IT OUT!)

These make wonderful gifts for your bathoholic friends.

I just like reading the descriptions! But I couldn’t help but order a few for my little ole’ self.

And you can make your own bath bombs. I haven’t tried it, but there are a number of interesting-sounding recipes out there that would make it a fun project. I’m a girlie girl and love fragrance, so I can envision myself at least for a short period of time attempting to master the art of creating my own bath bombs. Lush’s bath bombs go for about $4.00 and up. I’m sure they could be made more inexpensively, and with fragrances and skin softening agents of my own choosing.

The problem, of course, is time. That’s why…it might be just simpler to bite the bullet and order them.

And then there are bath melts, body butters and message bars.…oooh….so many products there that I can just browse for a long time, imagining the possibilities.

Lush appears to be a big company. Here is the website. You have to pick what country you’re in…

    Greetings!
I just ‘happened’ upon your blog via “And Rightly So!”. I am thrilled for you that you have discovered LUSH products. Please be forewarned though, once you receive your items and begin to experience the luxury that they offer, you may have a hard time stopping! I am just recovering from a serious addiction to their products. If you have a chance to visit one of their stores, do yourself a favor and check out as many products as possible. There are a great number of their items that can handle epidermic ‘ills’ that most consumer skin products cannot touch. You will indeed love the bath bomb you purchased and I can almost guarantee you will go back for more, regardless of the price. BTW - love your site and thanks for spreading the conservative word. All the best! Jonah S.

Well I definitely can use a little help with skin problems…! Rashes and that sort of thing. I ordered the face bar that has calamine lotion in it, so I’ll be reporting back what my experiences are with the stuff.

    Sure looks like heaven!
