People ask me, on occasion, what the heck is that name “Caoilfhionn”? How do you pronounce it? WHAT IS IT?
It’s my pen name, carefully selected some time ago on a discussion forum to reflect my irish heritage. It’s Irish Gaelic-not Scots. (I am of Irish and German heritage.) It’s pronounced “KWEE-lin” or “KEE-lin” and it means “fairhead”–because I’m blonde. It also means ‘fair and slender’. It’s also a girl’s name. People get sick of spelling it out so they’ve shortened it to “Cao” which is pronounced “key”.

You must have read my mind, ’cause I was wondering. Gaelic names are absolutely beautiful - but hard to figure out how to pronounce. LOL
Our family is in Cork County - the O’Leaghry’s (if I spelled it right even).

Melinda and I are going to Ireland for our honeymoon in January. I’m not Irish, but I love the country. Yes, I know it will be cold.
Very interesting about your name, I too was curious about the pronunciaton.

well you’ll have to warm each other up, then.
It’ll be absolutely beautiful countryside, Uncle Jack.
Actually I have to figure out where I put all that research, lol…

I will have to get ahold of my Uncle, they were over there not too long ago to hang out with my Cousins and brought back phenomenal photographs.

Paul Gallagher has some awesome and breathtaking photographs of Ireland. I’ve spoken with him, ordered a digital burn of that Connemara photo and have it up in my dining room behind a faux window with shutters. It’s amazing.
My Grandmother met my Grandfather (oh you should see the photo I have, I will post it in my blog today just for you) on the trip over to the US. At least that’s what I’ve been told! She used to cuss at me in Gaelic when I was naughty.
Yea, I like you more and more too, Cao!!
