former Korean hostages freed by the Taliban apologize

I’d be curious to know if the Korean government paid a ransom for them to be freed, since Korean officials were ‘negotiating’ or ‘talking’ with the Taliban which resulted in their release.

September 2, 2007 — Nineteen South Korean Christian aid workers freed in the past week by their Taliban captors have apologized to their countrymen for the trouble they caused.

The group arrived home earlier today amid controversy over their release, including allegations that the South Korean government paid a ransom to free them.

I’ve read news reports, very few mind you, of the raping of the hostages and that the 2 who were freed told the Korean officials and that’s what lead to a possible ransom payment.
