Swooning supporters fainting for Obama

Candidate prepared with water bottle, call for EMTs – fakery or fanaticism?

One unidentified poster to a Seattle Post-Intelligencer article on the fainting spells, made a connection to ’70s spiritual guru Jim Jones, who led his Bay Area followers to South America where over 900 died in a mass suicide:

“No one, other than Jim Jones – founder of the People’s Temple, has captivated crowds like Obama. This has nothing to do with the ‘Kool-Aid’ party Jones foisted on his people. Watch footage of his sermons at the People’s Temple, while in San Francisco. Same crying, passing out, etc.”

Oh I beg to differ…this is a koolaid drinking crowd, for sure.

From the Obama Campaign Website

The Obama campaign and media fixers together put together a virtual cartoon character for a candidate…one who can do no wrong…and his followers can’t see anything but the ’savior’ for America, regardless as to the reality of the situation…and that includes his wife, Michelle Obama.

We have lost the understanding that in a democracy, we have a mutual obligation to one another — that we cannot measure the greatness of our society by the strongest and richest of us, but we have to measure our greatness by the least of these. That we have to compromise and sacrifice for one another in order to get things done. That is why I am here, because Barack Obama is the only person in this who understands that. That before we can work on the problems, we have to fix our souls. Our souls are broken in this nation.

Feelings….woah woah woah feelings…

People are definitely loosing their grip on reality here.

Ed at Captain’s Quarters:

Government doesn’t exist to save souls; it exists to ensure domestic tranquility and provide for the common defense. If I feel my soul needs saving, the very last place I’d look (in the US) for a savior would be Washington DC or Capitol Hill. I’ll trust God and Jesus Christ with my soul, and I’m not going to mistake Barack Obama for either one.

Jay has a lot more on this Barack as “Mender of Souls” business.

  1. What Da Hell Says:

When to talk to 20,000 people 2 to 3 times a day and when the people that see him talk wait outside for another 2-3 hours, statistically speaking, it happens. I go to baseball games and at every game, someone passes out.

Man, you really hate this Obama guy.

Interesting - who are you supporting or are you just anti-Obama?

  2. Cao Says:

    No, I don’t hate him…I don’t hate anyone.

When Republicans talk about broken souls in the context of civil society, the nutroots start screaming about the obliteration of the church-state line.

When the Obama campaign uses the same rhetoric to get him elected to the White House, everyone swoons. -Michelle Malkin

I’m looking at this realistically instead of with all that emotion. Obamamania is a religion, it looks like…he’s being offered as the ’savior’ of America.

Sister Toldjah on Michelle Obama’s stump speech for her husband and “change”:

This is, in a nutshell, the radicalized, stripped-bare-of-the-platitudes version of any speech you’ll hear her husband make. America sucks, we’re not “sacrificing” enough for each other, our souls need be “healed,” and the only man who can do it is … Barack Obama. He is the “only man” in the race who has dealt with the toughness of the “streets” as a “community organizer.” Go here to listen to the speech, and Hugh Hewitt’s commentary in between clips, where he takes her to task for everything she asserts. The whole segment is about ten minutes long, but please, please, listen to it - and send it on to your friends, family, anyone who is even remotely interested in this election.

She talks a lot about “change”. There are a lot of change agents in the 20th century - Fidel, Mao, Pol Pot, Che - change you don’t want. Where is she on the change spectrum - from those who want to change their shirt - to those that want to change natural laws? She talks the John Edwards ‘two Americas’ stuff. This whole divided us versus them; two countries marxist stuff…’we have to measure out greatness by the least of these’ - that we have to ‘compromise and sacrifice for one another to get things done.’ ‘Our souls are broken’. If someone from government says ‘we’re going to fix your souls’ - be VERY AFRAID. Nobody believes outside of the hard-core marxist left - that government has the power to ‘fix your soul’. Not Barack Obama, not John McCain - nobody can fix your soul. “I am married to the only person in this race who can HEAL THE NATION. This is stunning. Modesty isn’t in large supply at ‘team Obama.’ Barack worked as a community organizer helping young mothers find their voice - because ‘government had forgotten them long ago’. John McCain spent 6 years in a North Vietnamese prison camp…now-that’s commitment.

It’s beginning to sound like General Zod. Bow down before Barack! He will HEAL YOUR SOUL! Since when do presidents HEAL SOULS? We can change the world! YES WE CAN! YES WE CAN! YES WE CAN! She gets the whole crowd chanting…!~ This is scarey…!

YouTube has clips from her UCLA speech - it’s the one where she spoke alongside Oprah and California First Lady Maria Shriver.

For anyone on the fence about whether or not to support Barack Obama, this speech should throw up red flags and have the alarm bells ringing. But, some might say, this is his wife speaking, not him. Bzzt: With all due respect, get a clue - as I noted earlier she’s saying the same thing Barack Obama does when he speaks, only he does it in platitudes and pretty words, all the while also promising to “heal this nation.”

LaShawn Barber: Why Barack Obama is Overrated

As far as I could tell, Obama was just another infanticide-supporting liberal who white journalists — not black people, mind you — declared the “great black hope.”
