Tsunami Help
Michelle at a Small Victory has a list of charities who are helping the Tsunami victims here.
The UN has pledged to “help”, but I don’t have any faith in those incompetents, with news like this. Honestly, US membership in that organization is a total waste of money and we should just get the hell out while the gettin’s good.
Of course that’s unlikely to happen with Bush’s pledge here.
Beth at My Vast Rightwing Conspiracy came over and shared this blog: here It’s called the The South-East Asia Earthquake and Tsunami blog, and you can get the latest ’skinny’ on what’s happening with that disaster over there. Thanks, Beth!

Cao we won’t leave the UN as long as it serves our purpose to be there. I admit that the UN leaves a lot to be desired. What do you think (on another subject) of the Patriot Act?

It’s not serving any purpose except for the globalists who want one world government. IMHO, we have no businesses making partnerships with socialists and communists. I read this morning that we have given up on the idea of 2 Chinas–so in other words, little free Taiwan is history. Or is soon to be history.
The Patriot Act was something we hastily rushed into in response to 9/11. Much like the 9/11 Commission report (which discounted the testimonies of the whistleblowers who were trying to call attention to what went wrong inside our intelligence community), we took action without much discussion or really looking at the ramifications for ordinary citizens.
In essence, I believe we’ve (not necessarily you and me but Congress) increased government and the power of government at the expense of our liberty. I hope that answers your question.

What’s sad is that the US is probably going to throw them a crapload of cash and bear the brunt of the relief effort…and the world will STILL hate us.

That’s why I’m starting to think-if socialism is so damned great, why don’t they do a little bit of that ‘redistributing of the wealth’ they’re always talking about–you know the kind where it’s according to each person’s need?

Socialism is a grand idea…unfortunately, human nature does not agree with it one bit…which is why it will forever be destined to fail.
December 28th, 2004 at 3:23 pm
Agreed. I have nothing to add on that score. I guess I was being sarcastic. It’s the socialists who complain we don’t do enough.

I heard Bush is committing $15 mil to the flood response. Compared to the $30-40 mil that is going to pay for his imperial benediction, I mean, inauguration.
December 28th, 2004 at 5:31 pm
click here–he added $26 million on top of the $15
Mr Powell emphasised how the United States has already given or promised about $US15 million ($19.58 million), sent nine P3 reconnaissance aircraft and 12 C-130 transport planes loaded with relief goods to the stricken nations around the Indian Ocean.

I agree, Teresa Heinz-Kerry comes to mind here. Instead of supporting groups that work to tear the Constitution up, put the billions she controls to work where it can really do something positive in this world.

Why stop there? What about Kofi and the Oil For Food money? What about Mrs. Arafat or Mrs. Hussein? There are a lot of people with literally billions of dollars who could do something.

Another place for everything tsunami-related is the The Southeast Asia Earthquake and Tsunami blog. Spread the word!
And you’re right, the UN is a ******* joke. They’re too busy lining their own pockets and flinging monkey poo at “stingy” Americans to be bothered with any of this messy business.
We ALWAYS, ALWAYS carry the lion’s share of the relief effort in every disaster, no matter who the victims are (i.e. the quake in Iran), and they still hate us. But that’s what makes us Americans and “them” jealous.

So true, Beth. So very true. That was hilarious, btw. And thanks for the heads up on the blog. What a bit of great old fashioned ingenuity–a blog devoted to all the news and information!
