Saudi Elections Feb 10 but women aren’t allowed to vote

Foreign Minister of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Prince Suud Al-Faisal has said women will be given the right to vote in the next elections.

Currently in Great Britain for an official visit, the Minister said the Election commission had proposed that women could vote and that he would not be surprised if this is put into effect “by the next elections”.

In the partial local elections held on February 10 in Saudi Arabia, only men voted and the second and third rounds of the polls will be held in March and April. However, it is not known whether the Prince referred to these rounds or an election in the future when he said, “next elections”.

Even though Saudi laws do not legislate against women voting, and every citizen over 21 has the right to vote, legislation is necessary to encourage public opinion to accept the idea of women casting votes.

It seems a bit quiet here on this one. I wonder where the progressive citizens of the world stand on this one.

They’re too freaked out by all the posts on Terri Schiavo. I haven’t posted to bait frenchie lately and most of the trolls come over with Mr. & Mrs. Frog.
