I'd like to also be clear that Terri Schiavo's situation is NOT, repeat NOT, in the catagory of Oregon's "Death with Dignity" law. Terri does not have a terminal illness, nor is there anything in writing between Terri and her physician, nor is she on any form of life support. Terri is like a prisoner, so if it becomes legal to remove her food then I guess all those thousands of death row inmates can have their food supply stopped as well. Heck, let's include all rapists and violent criminals as well. Let Terri eat - how stupid is this going to get? Excellent post! In fact, if I were to try to starve one of my horses to death, (I would kill to protect my hroses so starving will never be an issue for anyone that may think I am saying I would), as I was saying, if I tried to starve my horse I would lose my horses and Go To Jail!!! With a (well deserved) felony no less. The sad fact is that we're starting to treat people like dumb animals... Like shooting horses when they're in pain or putting down dogs when they have an incurable illness. Death is part of the human condition. Pain and sorrow associated with death and how we and our families deal with that is what seperates us from the rest of the dumb brutes on this planet. Absolutely fan-damn-tastic post!
