Illinois GOP and SB 600

SB 600 is the move that Chris Lauzen courageously fought for, and it makes total sense. When my mom and dad explained this to me, my dad was kind of chortling about it because the powers that be didn’t take this very well. Understandably so; it would remove some of their power and put it in the hands of the voters – where it should be.

SB 600 would allow GOP voters – not an elite few -to have control of who is in the Central Committee. At the TAPROOT breakfast meeting this past Saturday according to David Diersen…

Brady made it clear that he opposes SB600 and that the only thing he will do for the millions of SB600 supporters in Illinois is to promise to give the issue a fair hearing at the 2012 IRP convention. Given that, sadly, everyone can expect that the IRP will continue to promote candidates, elected officials, and party leaders who oppose SB600 and that the IRP will work against candidates, elected officials, and party leaders who support SB600. Sadly, by its actions, the IRP continues to say to the millions of SB600 supporters in Illinois either drop your support for SB600 or leave the party. Brady’s opposition to SB600 better explains why the IRP State Central Committee, which vehemently opposes SB600, elected Brady as IRP Chairman so promptly.

GOP Voters need to get very strong and vocal on this if we are to expect true change, cleanup and representation in the GOP in Illinois. This is ridiculous.

Senator Chris Lauzen is a hero in my mind for championing SB 600.

PASS SB 600 and let the voters chose! State Central Committeeman members were elected under “Alternative B” in 2006. Their terms expire in 2010 and that’s why it’s so important.
