How do we get the public – private sector workers informed of how educators , local/state governments are getting these salaries and pensions. Communicated with Naperville District 203 and they could care less about these problems. They , along with Teachers Union are the roadblocks to quality education at an affordable cost

I realize that there are teachers in school districts in the state of Illinois who make enormous salaries. However, in central and southern Illinois the salaries are not enormous. We have teachers in southern Illinois who are using food stamps to supplement their retirement. Most of the small schools beginning salaries are $20,000/ year, which averages around $13-14/ hour. When you stated that teachers begin at $40,000/yr, that’s what my salary is now after 17 years of teaching w/ a Master’s Degree. Personally, I see these enormous salaries from large school districts especially above I-80. However, I know the cost of living there is so much higher than down state. Please when you are lumping salary information that ALL Illinois teachers are making these huge, huge salaries you are mistaken, don’t make encompassing statements such as ALL teachers, because we certainly don’t!
