Supposedly he is the only one of the candidates who has the money to run an ad.
Click here for just some of the reasons why this ad is so disingenuous – other than the stupid tag line ‘hair today gone tomororw’ which is, in essence, blaming Blagojevich for Illinois’ troubles.
This approach – of claiming to be an ‘outsider’ just brings all of their history in Illinois politics and being bedfellows with Chicago democrats clearer into focus.
It should be noted that Matt Murphy is in his second term in the Illinois House, and dropped his own bid for governor in order to sign onto the McKenna campaign to fill the empty office of Lt. Governor.
Dubbed by many within the Republican Party a “rising star,” Matt has earned a reputation as one of the leading advocates for taxpayers and business in the senate. He is the only senator to author legislation to cut corporate and personal income tax and roll back the Cook County sales tax hike.
Matt was recently tapped by his colleagues to lead the Deficit Reduction Committee where he identified more than $3 billion in waste, fraud, and abuse in the budget. He also serves on the Senate Judiciary, Redistricting, and Revenue committees, as well as the Commission on Government Forecasting and Accountability.
Matt has a 100% voting record with the NFIB during the 2007/2008 legislation session and has earned awards for his voting record in support of businesses in the state. He received the Illinois Chamber of Commerce’s Friend of Business Award in 2009 and the Illinois Civil Justice League’s Friend of Fairness Award in 2007.
Matt is a graduate of The John Marshall Law School and is a practicing attorney with Brian J. McManus & Associates. Matt and his wife, Julie, have four children and live in Palatine.
He’s no “outsider”, either, but Matt’s record is at least more in line with what voters are looking for….except for the lawyer part. How many more lawyers do we need in government? I’d like to see some REAL FRESH FACES in there – people who’ve come from other walks of life – and have experience in the private sector.
But…being that McKenna is the headliner and would take the lead role as Governor, the only thing they have going for them is that McKenna can run ads and none of his opponents have the money.
Yet.
I’m not even sure that TV is such an important factor when there are so many other venues, methods and approaches a candidate can put to use that don’t cost very much. The other thing is – I think some of these politicians who’ve created a blanket of security around themselves have forgotten who it is that got them there: THE VOTERS. AND WE CAN VOTE THEM OUT.
This is hunting season for RINOs like I’ve never seen it before…and it’s time to clean our own house.
How many conservatives and/or republicans or just plain voters- watch TV, anyway? So many folks – who haven’t lost their jobs yet – are busy working and raising their families and barely have enough time to keep track of politics.
It is high time, though, to expect more out of the GOP leadership and our elected officials than what we’ve experienced in recent years. Those who’ve betrayed their conservative constituents should understand it when the voters kick them to the curb.

Cao,
I agree with you on all points in this posting. The work we need to do is to get this message out on behalf of those good conservative candidates, those real outsiders, who don’t have the money to buy ads the way McKenna has. We need to talk about this with our friends and loved ones and be bold enough to bring this to them all. Thanks for doing your part on this blog.
Thanks, Lidia. People in Illinois were very vocal during the townhalls and the tea party protests. The politically connected elite repugs are about to find out that there are still conservatives in Illinois and hedging their bets was a big mistake.
Let’s make sure everyone knows about the billions of dollars that the repugs have helped the democrats piss away like drunken sailors on leave!!!
