blogger notice: need your help in battling the bots

If you notice anything wonky about my comments section or anything else having to do with the technology that is fueling the blog – please let me know. I installed some plugins for comments and want to know that they’re working properly, it would be a big help as I battle the bots behind the scenes here.

Since I installed Captcha, I haven’t received a single bit of comment spam. Akismet is sitting there EMPTY.

Captcha works fine but you could have people register to comment and then log-in to comment. Still it’s a PITA but worth the aggravation. There is a setting in the control panel for wordpress to do just that. The nice thing about this is if you had someone commenting and wanted to stop that there is a command to block it.But then you would have to spend time regulating what was being done. A catch-22 situation no matter how you look at it. So captcha has it’s benefits.

As I mentioned, I have absolutely nothing in the queue now so I see no need to do anything more; problem is solved.

Looks good. I can live with the captcha, but I won’t register to comment anywhere just because I’m too lazy. :)

There’s no reason to do it if captcha does the trick….unless you just want to keep people away. I want people to comment about the stuff I’m putting up. Out of thousands of comments, there are only a few hundred loony ones that I have not published…
