Welcome Melanie Morgan readers from- MelanieMorgan.com! And a big thanks to Mel for mentioning what we’re doing. You know I love you, and all those wonderful folks at Move America Forward and MAF Freedom PAC, too. Read on-this post will remain at the top of the blog for a few days-
The Marine of the Day story is at Cass’s website, Villainous Company, here. If you haven’t started crying by the time you get to the video, I’ll wager watching the video will push you over the edge.
What you need to know is-we are raising funds for VALOUR-IT, a Soldiers Angels project, for the Marine Team. Bloggers have chosen to join a team named after a branch of military service, and we are engaged in a friendly competition to raise funds for this worthy cause.
The widget above shows how we’re doing in comparison to the rest of the teams. Right now, the small scrappy Marine team comprised of a little over 65 bloggers is in the lead, with the Army following close behind.
If you can find it in your heart to spare a few bucks, please support the rehabilitation of our warriors through a small monetary gift (click here to donate.) to the Soldiers Angeles VALOUR-IT project. When injuries to the head, face, eyes, hands and/or arms and other parts of the body are bandaged, there is little to do but lay there. Your money is an investment in HOPE and INSPIRATION TO MOVE FORWARD; much more than a simple piece of hardware. Plus, it gives them the ability to connect with their fellow soldiers, and all the people in their lives they were in contact with before- instead of sitting in isolation, focusing on their injuries.
A Voice activated laptop helps a wounded warrior to realize that life is not over. It is one of the first normal everyday things they did before they were injured that they can do while they’re recuperating. It gives them a much-needed sense of independence, wholeness, and a whole lot more.
These miracles of technology such as the WII whole body game systems and personal handheld GPS, allow them to be more mobile; connect with their buddies; have fun; and put their focus on living life again. It has an amazing affect on their attitude and their speed of recovery as well as their outlook for the future.

This fundraiser will end on November 11, 2009. Dig deep, our boys deserve our thanks for their sacrifices.
**People have asked me what got me involved? Well, to tell you the truth, the idea of my son coming back from Iraq wounded got me to thinking I would be grateful if a Soldiers Angel was sitting at his bedside when he woke up. That never happened to him-but it has happened to thousands of boys who have had the experience of awakening to find a Soldiers Angel sitting next to their beds. Imagine what a difference that can make to a young man when he didn’t have friends or family nearby that could be there. Those are the kinds of things Soldiers Angels do…Valour IT is just one of the many things they do for our service members. And I joined the Marine Team in years past and this year-as a tribute to my dad is who is a former marine, and my Uncle who is a former Marine, and my younger son, who went to the Marine Military Academy in Texas. Melanie Morgan and Debbie Lee are both aware of all of this-my love goes out to them both.
