KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Convicted killer Letalvis Cobbins has been moved to a maximum-security prison.
The 26-year-old Cobbins was convicted in August of first-degree murder in the Knoxville torture slaying of Channon Christian and facilitating the murder of her boyfriend Christopher Newsom in 2007.
The victims’ families were outraged to learn Cobbins was sent to a medium-security prison to serve his life-without-parole sentence.
After receiving a complaint from state Sen. Tim Burchett of Knoxville, Correction Commissioner George Little decided that maximum-security West Tennessee State Penitentiary would be more appropriate.
Corrections spokeswoman Dorinda Carter says Cobbins arrived Monday at the penitentiary.
Meanwhile, Cobbins’ brother, Lemaricus Davidson, was taken to Riverbend Maximum Security Institution in Nashville within hours of being sentenced to death Friday in the Christian-Newsom slayings.
Soon, we will begin hearing the laments from the ‘social justice’ crowd about abolishing capital punishment.
But…capital punishment is exactly what the juries decided was “justice”. Lemaricus Davidson and the others involved in these shocking and horrendous crimes received a fair trial by jury; which is a lot more than you’d get in any marxist regime. Shannon Christian and Christopher Newsom were not given any compassion from the monsters who tortured them, lit Christopher on fire, and ultimately ended their lives in the most heartless and vicious ways imaginable. May God rest Shannon and Christopher’s souls…and may the perps rot in hell.
