“When they get back from deployment, the first thing all troops must do is enter what could be called the ‘politically correct’ room, where they surrender their weapons†says Larry Pratt, from Gun Owners of America.
“Almost all of America’s massacres have taken place in gun-free zones, primarily schools, government buildings and now an Army base. If we are going to protect life, we must permit the disarmed to be armed. We must Arm the Army! Otherwise, Jihadists will continue to single out soft targets where they will be able to kill the greatest number possible.â€
From Special Guests – “CLARION CALL TO ARM THE ARMY! Hasan Knew Ft. Hood Tragic Flaw: No Guns Allowed on Base (Larry & Erich Pratt interview from DC or by phone)”
Although Bill Mann writes at the Huffington Post that Fort Hood illustrates that our gun laws are a disgrace, he doesn’t mean that people should be armed. Quite the opposite. Mann uses the Fort Hood incident as more reasoning for more strict gun control laws. But as this incident clearly shows, it’s people who BREAK the law that obtain weapons with the intent to kill. When citizens (whether on a military base or off) are unarmed, they are sitting ducks.
The fact remains, that if the soldiers at Fort Hood had been able to reach a firearm, Hasan would not have been able to kill so many people. It was a woman police officer who stopped him with bullets from a gun.
Update: One of my contacts who served in IOF for the Army tells me that the army took their weapons from them before they boarded the plane to come home; and that there was a shortage of ammunition when he was there.
