Today is the Marine Corps’ Birthday. It’s Marine Corps tradition to observe the Commandant’s Birthday message; it is played at every Marine Corps Ball and at any place where Marines gather all over the world. This is last year’s message from the Commandant and Sergeant Major of the Marine Corps. It makes the point that Marines have been at the forefront of the war on terror for over a quarter of a century:
The Marine team is within sight of our 35K goal, but we need your help to get there! I can’t think of a better way to celebrate the birth of our Corps than to boost the Marine team to its first victory ever.

The men and women of the United States military have given their all to defend the values we Americans hold dear. For the price of a few sixpacks of beer or some dip and chips, you can tell them that you honor their sacrifices and their service. Please give generously. They did:
GO MARINES!!!
This is the 234th Birthday of the Marine Corps. This is the 2009 message from the Commandant:

“…the Marine Corps has never experienced a mutiny. Marines in England were revered for their loyalty to the crown, just as United States Marines are now revered for their downright fanatical dedication to each other, their service, and their country. Using Latin to characterize this quality represents its legitimization–its codification. Significantly, for Marines at least, it also provides a caste–a group that is separate and unique from any other–a group that has no desire to be like any other.
What is left unsaid in the motto is also notable. The phrase is “Always faithful.” It isn’t “Sometimes Faithful.” Nor is it “Usually Faithful,” but always. It is not negotiable. It is not relative, but absolute.“
Jules takes a stroll through Hahvahd Yahd and finds a few surprises:
It’s always easy to poke fun at the World’s Greatest University across the Charles, all the more so in recent decades as, like much of academia, it sank in a wretched swamp of America-bashing leftism while continuing to survey the world down its superior nose.
Did you know that Harvard can now boast no fewer than 16 Medals of Honor among its alums? Thanks to the efforts of some veterans who have long treasured their university’s military traditions and dug into military records and Harvard archives, the university can claim the highest known number outside the service academies.

No Sheeples has General Conway’s Birthday message.
The Marines have given a lot for us. Ercille has thoughts on how you can pay it forward. Bonus points for the dynamite Arty photos!
Speaking of which, the C-Square has page after page of wonderful photos of Marines doing what Marines do best. “Just keep scrolling”, as the saying goes.
Thanks to Cass at VC for the canned messages to pass on – it’s extremely helpful to me to piece something together like this to convey the message.

It is spelled Valor in America unless you are from England.
Stay in school.
It’s a charity, you dingbat. It stands for Voice Activated Laptops for Our Injured Troops. Not that you took the care to pay any attention to the content of the post in your rush to depict me as an uneducated toothless redneck. You might want to followed some of the links, too before you turn yourself into even more of an elitist ***…You’d better quit school; you’re too full of your high fallutin’ edumication to navigate through anything having to do with common sense or charity.
Yes, you are ignorant and proud of it – I get that.
If you are going to use the King’s English then why did we have that war with King George for?
I find it amusing that you use the comments like a chat room. I think this access to the Internet thing is a bad thing because it allows foil hat wearers like yourself to speak their “mind” …. which is actually is the sound of crickets.
I hope you convince more people to go far right – that way you doom the Republican party forever.
Coward – you delete comments that prove the point you are like a rock – only dumber.
My apologies – you haven’t deleted comments so you are not a coward.
I still think you are like a rock – only dumber though.
I’m busy writing, you imbecile. Have patience and know that I am not here to do your bidding or satisfy your juvenile need for attention…I have other things to attend to and in the future when I see your comments, I think I’ll wait a week or so before I let them through rather than approve them right away.
Liberals…so insecure and demanding!
And here’s a bulletin for you…I don’t care what you think. This blog is about what I think.
For someone who doesn’t care what I think you sure spend a lot of time responding and editing your comments.
It is actually ironic.
What’s ironic is how much time you have spent reading here if you think I’m dumber than a rock, LOL
What is the purpose of hanging out on the blog of a writer you can’t stand?
There are millions of blogs out there.
Now shoo! Go and find some other person to pester!
This is a sign of someone who is obsessed. Seriously.
What’s the matter, “RED MARK”? Cat got your tongue? LOL!! And guess what? I didn’t have to do anything to “make you look stupid”…you did it all by yourself. “RED MARK” contradicts himself when he says he’s been a republican for 30 years, claims I’m pulling the ‘usual rightwing’ trick, but uses Saul Alinsky tactics.
The truth is you’re pulling the same old LEFTWING TRICKS that leftists use in comments all the time, LOL. I’m merely experienced at responding..and I merely exposed the magnitude of your hypocrisy; in a total of three return visits, you spent more than FOUR HOURS HERE.
That’s pretty good! Your hanging out a blog for over 4 hours where you said the writer is as ‘dumb as a rock’, LOL…
So what does that make you?
