Cao, you know it. I have just lost so much faith in our justice system. It makes me sick. Between all the pay offs and the political point scoring, this case smelled of rats from the beginning and will end the same way. Michael Schiavo murdered and got rewarded. That’s it.

Dave, she is near-death and Michael said he was going to cremate her right away. I haven’t seen any people on Michael’s side of this who were applauding him for that decision, doesn’t it sound even a LITTLE BIT weird to you that he would cremate her immediately upon her death, considering all the allegations of abuse against him? Most of us don’t want to see him get away with this, and I know to some people who are overly sensitive this whole case was a terribly nasty ordeal, but…it’s reality.
For Terri’s sake, and for that of the Schindler’s, justice should be dealt to Michael, in abundance. IMO, forensic evidence will do it’s job just as it has done in innumerable cases that have been solved way after the fact.

As a result of the altered autopsy, the forces that were responsible for her death could no longer be held responsible. I suspect it will be the same in this case.
Terri’s own father said about the judicial system that sentenced his daughter to a slow, agonizing death by starvation: “What I think you’re seeing now is a display where the judicial system is…flexing their muscles. I’m so tired of the slanerous comments and allegations levelled at Michael Schiavo. Nobody knows for sure what he is thinking. I know that I wouldn’t want to live in that condition. The decision could not have been easy and now people create stories to demonize him. Cowards hiding in the anonimity of the internet.

I’m sorry you’re not aware of things like this and this. There is plenty of evidence to suspect Michael of wrongdoing, DFS opened an investigation which is currently pending.
Hearsay is not fact. Let the actual evidence speak.

Just like the media where one person makes a false statement and then retracts it but other media outlets continue to quote the original false statement without including the retraction.
I want to be fully informed of all of the facts and not incomplete reporting based on an agenda.
By all means embrace life but respect the will of the individual.
My advice is if you agree with the right to die is to save everyone a lot of pain and soul searching by having a living will and by making sure your loved ones know your explicit wishes. I believe it is possible Terri Schiavo stated her lack of desire to exist in such a condition but without explicit proof we cannot know.
It is all supposition and speculation for those of us who never knew her or had the chance to talk to her on this subject.
Yes indeed, let’s have the facts. Ok, Terri was in a vegetative state and feels nothing, check, I got it.
Starvation is painless and Terri will actually feel euphoria (a feeling of well-being or elation.)

Terri was given morphine near the end. A pain killer? Was this to combat pain and discomfort or was this to deny her the euphoria?
So the result is, kill her now and ask questions later.
That’s all I’m talking about, facts. The people who deny all the evidence against Michael Schiavo either haven’t read the reports and affidavits or are just paying attention to the media reports. Either way, it’s breathtaking blindness. Psychiatric experts have testified he fits the same personality profile as OJ Simpson–someone who is capable of going into a blind rage which might explain how Terri wound up with her head/neck injury to begin with. Michael Baden, the forensic expert, has testified that her neck injury is consistent with strangulation and so has Dr. Hammesfahr, after looking at her CT scan.
Witnesses to Michael’s abusive behavior and solid evidence like the 1991 bone scan are not hearsay. Code Blue Blog has a good analysis of the CT Scan.

News reports state allegations of abuse are unfounded. So far only blogs are claiming abuse as fact. Just real facts please. If He did abuse her then charge him but let the authorities do their job.

Hammesfahr is a reputable neurologist who works with brain damaged patients to rehabilitate them, not kill them like Dr. Cranford. Interestingly, Dr. Cranford’s testimony is what Greer solely relied upon. I could say the same thing about Cranford, his expertise is in killing his patients so if that wasn’t the goal in Greer’s courtroom, he should have allowed some other kind of expert testimony. But he did not. Anyway, discrediting Hammasfahr is not necessary, there are plenty of other experts who agree with his assessment.

Almost 50 neurologists all say the same thing: Terri should be reevaluated, Terri should be reexamined, and there are grave doubts as to the accuracy of Terri’s diagnosis of PVS. All of these neurologists are board-certified; a number of them are fellows of the prestigious American Academy of Neurology; several are professors of neurology at major medical schools.
I’m sorry you don’t want to acknowledge that information, but neither did Greer and that’s why there is a problem. It’s not only coming from bloggers….but bloggers are bringing the issues to the fore. Code Blue Blog has more, and so does Sue Bob’s Diary on the legal issues. There are plenty of experts to call upon, I don’t have to be a doctor or lawyer myself to see the injustices served in this case.

I’m not picking a fight with you. In fact I applaud your willingness to engage in this. You can check out quackwatch.org if you choose. As far as authorities saying the abuse allegations are without sufficient basis I say let them do their job and if they find sufficient grounds to charge him then I am with you in seeing justice served. I just want to see justice served without bias or some inappropriate agenda. Having been accused of something I didn’t do I wait for everything to be shown before judging anyone. At least you will discuss and provide some backing info. Too many have jumped to conclusions and I find that a bit scary.

Hey. I found the website, and thank you for keeping your comments civil. I didn’t find the article you were referencing, but I think you are too trusting of the people who are in authority and too willing to hand over decisions like this that are important to all; not to just one woman. There are over 17 disability groups who are very concerned over this as you can see here.
I think the whole reason we all got involved was that we saw a serious injustice being handed to an innocent woman at the hands of a man who fits the psychological profile of an abuser. If there was even a question as to that man’s character and what his motives were, IMO, he should not have been allowed to be her guardian.
That just makes sense, but what seems to make sense to normal people did not happen in this case…with just a cursory glance you can get that impression, but the deeper I delved into it, the more I was thinking “what the hell is going on here” and “why isn’t anyone stopping it?”
If you couple that with the fact that Judge Greer acted illegally as both Guardian Ad Litem and the Judge in this case simultaneously (at one point), and many other facts that indicate conflicts of interest, it just seems as though Terri did not get due process. She never had her own attorney! I have never heard of such a thing.
She should have had her own attorney. When a person cannot communicate their wishes Then they should have a legal advocate.
As far as some person fitting a psychological profile of an abuser doesn’t guarantee they are one. It does give one cause to look deeper.
I’m not sure of your views on right to die issues.(I don’t believe many people are anti-life) I have a health issue which may leave me in a position where I would not want to be kept alive. As long as I have enough strength to live I will.
I mentioned in a previous post that I believe a person should have a living will to make their wishes known.
Anyway I have a different perspective on some things but probably share more of your views than you may think.
As far as trusting the authorities goes I can be a bit of a cynic but I prefer to put my trust in law. The alternative can be pretty scary.

As many disabled people have said, as a young person never having been faced with those issues, a person might say those things. But once you’re tube fed like many people with Crohn’s disease, it doesn’t mean you’re a disposable person. Being that Terri was a catholic, her family sincerely doubted that she would have said such a thing.
The ruling was based purely on hearsay; something he suddenly remembered after getting over $1.6 million dollars in insurance money to rehabilitate her.
Many of us have personal issues I don’t like to air mine here. Suffice it to say I have personal experience with dealing with these kinds of issues and a living will might have circumvented this, I don’t know.
The fact that Michael was awarded over $1 million for her rehabilitation and once he got it started using that money to end her life, that is of deep concern. It was at that point that the Schindler’s and he had a falling out.
Up until that point she was receiving therapy, beginning to talk, and was walking with a walker. He ended all her therapy 15 years ago and illegally put her in a hospice 5 years ago.
When you enter a hospice, in order for Medicaire to pay for your payments, you must provide documentation that you’re terminal and are going to die in 6 months. Michael provided no such documentation, because she wasn’t terminal.
The only thing that made her case terminal was the Judge ordering her food and water to be withheld from her. Which was a gradual case of bait and switch. The documents said at first “artificial life support”, and then “artificial life support/tube feeding”, to “tube feeding”, to Nutrition and hydration. At the end, the Judge ordered Michael Schiavo to stop providing her with food and water; it was a killing order.
This was not law that was passed by the legislature, this was bait and switch language all done in a probate judge’s courtroom. Terri had no attorney, and the judge served as the jury; there was no jury. If you read all those counts at the petition to impeach judge greer, you might have some idea of some of the things he did inappopriately.
The Suncoast Hospice owes the federal government over $14.8 million on fraudulent medicare payments for over 100 patients who were admitted much in the same way as Terri was. It is known as a death factory.
The Empire Journal has more. Apparently a Texas Businessman is filing a formal complaint against Judge Greer and now the petition to impeach him has over 35,000 signatures.
I think the only “authorities” here that have claimed there is no abuse is that One Judge. Various different people in the Dept of Children and Families claim there was abuse — but the judge says there wasn’t, and he won’t let anyone examinate.
