It was pointed out by Kurt Erickson at the Herald Review that “Republican Figures Don’t Add Up, Either”.
Although the Democrats have messed things up pretty well, Republicans running to become the next governor aren’t offering much of a solution.
This is something I’ve noticed, time and again. Dillard talks the talk, but he has no backbone where standing up to Democrats is concerned – he’d rather ‘go along to get along’. I am somewhat taken aback about Jim Ryan’s involvement – or as he calls it ‘guilt by association’ with the problems associated with the Teachers’ pensions and pocketing money for his campaign from some of the crooks who were involved in that. The tea party protests have established a fact that is an ever-growing problem to the politicos in this state: people are getting involved in their government and want to know beyond the flowery words and promises, exactly what is your plan, should you win your election bid?
Among those entertaining the idea that Illinois can cut its way out of its mess is political newcomer Adam Andrzejewski, who is vying for the GOP gubernatorial nomination in February.
The Hinsdale Republican says the state should undergo a “forensic audit,” which he believes would reveal all sorts of ways to save taxpayer dollars.
Andrzejewski says such a move could save an estimated $3 billion to $5 billion.
That’s a pretty impressive amount of savings. How did he arrive at that number, though?
Andrzejewski told us he based his estimates on reports out of other states, in which audits found savings ranging from $1 billion to $8 billion.
Based on the size of two of those states, Andrzejewski estimates Illinois’ savings would fall somewhere in the middle.
I asked him what specifically was found in the audits of those other states that might be applicable to Illinois, but he said he didn’t have any examples.
In other words, his estimates are based on the same kind of inexact science Democrats use.
A forensic audit is merely an activity. But to what end? We don’t know what the destination is, or if there even IS one.

Saving money would be the end. I saw this comment that my friend posted.
Adam has obviously focused primarily on the Illinois Budget and could read off dozens of solid cuts to the budget as you may have heard in his interview on WBBM am 780 -At Issue with Craig Dellimore and Joe Ryan
This criticism is irrelevant because he is asking Adam to identify the specifics of the audits from OTHER STATES that saved them billions of dollars. The fact that Florida and Texas saved that much money and still have an employment and economic growth rate much better than Illinois in this recession is proof enough to show how useful a forensic audit would be.
