Kelly doesn’t even own a CAR.
A scrub is a guy that can’t get no love from me
And is also known as a buster
Always talkin’ about what he wants
And just sits on his broke ass
So (no)I don’t want your number (no)
I don’t want to give you mine and (no)
I don’t want to meet you nowhere (no)
I don’t want none of your time and (no)[Chorus:]
I don’t want no scrub
A scrub is a guy that can’t get no love from me
Hanging out the passenger side
Of his best friend’s ride
Trying to holler at me
Conservatives in Illinois don’t need this buster; he is doing a disservice to the republican cause.
Kelly’s blowhard objections to Jack Roeser’s supposed “smears” are disingenuous lies.
These mosh ups are not made-up; they are not fabricated; they are not satire with Kelly body doubles-or superimposed images of Kelly’s face on some other clown’s body-they are merely honest collections of clips from Kelly’s OWN VIDEOS. Kelly SMEARED HIMSELF.
Kelly has been at these antics for a good twenty years; it’s always the same old schtick with the same self-promoting stunts. The shame of it is how willing he is to throw people under the bus who have helped him over the years.
The naked truth is that Jack Roeser was a friend to Bill Kelly. Who-other than a friend-would have bailed Kelly out of jail when he was arrested for heckling Clinton? Who-other than a friend-would make contact with the right attorney to exsponge Kelly’s record so his Clinton stunt wouldn’t leave him with legal bills and a legal battle for the rest of his life? Who-other than a friend-would put up the money so Kelly could start his production company? Roeser also put up the money to purchase air time for Kelly’s radio show, which lasted about a year. Jack Roeser also gave Kelly even MORE MONEY to bail out his production company, and shortly after that he came out as a surprise candidate for Comptroller.
How Kelly is going to live with himself after the primary….after what he’s done to former employees and friends remains to be seen, but I don’t imagine it’ll be very pretty for him. No campaign should be worth the kind of backstabbing Kelly has engaged in here. One wonders if Kelly is so blind that he doesn’t realize the bridges he’s burned.
Attacking the very person who helped him all these years is-at the very least- very unproductive. What is he accomplishing in all this except to prove himself slimey and untrustworthy? This latest episode speaks volumes about Bill Kelly’s lack of character and throws his ability to serve in the capacity of Comptroller even further into question.
The conservative blogosphere does not do the conservative cause any favors by enabling this clown. In fact, what it is doing is helping Judy Barr Topinka. Kelly is a laughingstock. He didn’t even have enough sense to take down those videos off his YouTube channel. Then, after he was burned by them, he made a Christmas video dancing with four young women entitled “Bill’s Phat, Drunk, and Merry Sing-A-Long….with supermodels”. That isn’t available now, but I hope you can see how ridiculous this is rapidly becoming.
He is the candidate with the most flaws, who is about to go down in flames, discredit the movement and himself, split the conservative vote between him and Dodge-and ultimately lose to Judy Baar Topinka in the process. The one who has the most to gain from all of this is Judy Baar Topinka.
The problem with Kelly is-he has destroyed his own credibility and the credibility of everyone around him. No one can trust the political judgment of people supporting Kelly in this election, especially after he published those videos.
Let’s connect the dots.
Question: Who is financing the PR Firm Martin E. Janis & Associates and its involvement in publicizing Kelly’s antics?
It’s a fact that both Martin E. Janis & Associates and Martin Janis personally, have a longtime relationship with Judy Baar Topinka. Janis & Associates was the PR firm for John Cox’s 2004 Senate campaign. In fact, Topinka and Janis are so thick that Janis resigned after Cox called for Topinka’s resignation as State Party Chair. Janis told Cox’s campaign they would not have their long standing relationship with Topinka damaged by Cox’s resignation call.
Back in November, Jack Roeser called Kelly to use his past relationship with Kelly to get him out of the comptroller’s race. On three separate occasions, Kelly assured Roeser he was getting out. Kelly said he did not have the financial resources to run a credible statewide campaign and he was disappointed he was not receiving more support from conservative groups. Jack Roeser speaks of this in SEGMENT 5 of his Sunday radio show.
http://www.championnews.net/article.php?sid=2198
Jack Roeser arranged a meeting between the Dodge and Kelly campaigns at Kelly’s request. Kelly wanted Dodge to voice support for certain issue before he quit, and offered to endorse Dodge in exchange. Anybody who has been following this has seen Kelly drinking and making a fool of himself on his youtube channel(s). The guy is a trainwreck. Topinka and the Dems would have been ready to use those videos, too.
The Dodge campaign then offered a statement from Dodge expressing respect for Kelly and support for his issues. Everything else would be ironed out during the Roeser-arranged meeting. But shortly before the meeting, Kelly cancelled, saying he wanted to meet with his “people” to get their issues straight beforehand. In the meantime, Kelly assured Roeser he was withdrawing.
It finally came out at a candidate forum that Kelly had no intention of withdrawing. With both Dodge and Topinka present, Kelly issued an over-the-top slam to Dodge that Dodge’s campaign was spreading the vicious rumor that Kelly was getting out. He followed it up with even more outrageous statements in a press release, from his Facebook, and his website. Roeser called Kelly for an explanation, and Kelly explained that Martin Janis & Associates talked him into staying in. Kelly really didn’t really want to stay in the race, and I’m inclined to believe what Roeser says is true; everyone but the blindest of the blind – or someone working for Topinka can see the handwriting on the wall for Kelly’s campaign – with the videos alone.
It will benefit Topinka if his lunacy continues.
But then you have what he did regarding the atheist sign in Springfield.1 It was completely over-the-top and illustrated that Kelly not only can’t distinguished fact from fiction, he can’t get his facts straight.2
“As a candidate for comptroller, I believe it is absolutely wrong for Illinois’ officials to be spending tax dollars to denigrate and mock good people of faith.”
That’s interesting, Bill…all of the displays are privately funded. Is this the kind of due diligence we can expect from you as Comptroller? Pathetic.
What is interesting is how long this Laura Grock person has been involved in the PR work for the Kelly campaign and how nobody is asking questions about it. She is not just an employee at Martin E. Janis; she is Vice President, and is devoting her precious expensive time to the Kelly campaign.3 4 5 6 7 Someone sees value in paying resources from Martin E. Janis-including one of their top people to work on Kelly’s campaign. Not even Bill Kelly believes he will be the next Comptroller, so they are not working for free in the hopes they’ll be the next PR firm of the Comptroller’s Office in 2011…but there is a good probability that they are being paid to be the PR firm under a Comptroller Topinka. Kelly can’t afford yesterday’s newspaper, let alone a political campaign; anyone close to him or his staff can easily see that. $25 movie night fundraisers might raise enough cash to run for Chicago Republican ward committeeman, but certainly not State Comptroller.
Kelly threatened to sue anyone who comes out and tells the truth about him, alleging that it’s ‘defamation’ and ‘libel’ if they dare to do so. But it’s not ‘defamation’ or ‘libel’ when it’s his own actions and bad choices that brought him here. It’s not “defamation” or “libel” if it’s the simple and unadulterated truth.
In his call to protest Dan Hynes in January, he pulls another devastatingly stupid move, declaring:
For years, Dan Hynes has believed that being the comptroller was being a rubber stamp for any spending the governor or speaker wanted. What else do you expect from a career politician who never had to work a day in his life? And now he says he wants to be governor?!? As a small business owner, I know something about accounts payable and accounts receivable. I know something about true competition, transparency, accountability and efficiency. These are the values I will bring with me to the comptroller’s office to balance the budget.
As a small business owner who didn’t raise the money to get himself started, who has been “bailed out” by someone else, Kelly is representative of someone who needs to grow up. I don’t want him anywhere near the state treasury. He has no accomplishments to speak of, is competing with Jim Dodge purely on the basis of pulling outrageous publicity stunts with prodding from Martin E. Janis & Associates; which appears to have an agenda that is in nobody’s interest except that of Judy Baar Topinka.
Kelly’s having not paid people or reimbursed them for their expenses-going back on promises made-betraying friends who’ve helped him out over the years-and threatening lawsuits demonstrates quite the opposite of the ‘transparency, accountability and efficiency’ that he brags about.
He puts those videos up to BE SEEN, but when people point out what they’re seeing in those videos, it’s a SMEAR? Sorry, Bill, you’ll have to do better than that.
On qualifications alone, Dodge beats both Topinka and Kelly, hands down; which is what Topinka is afraid of. What she is hoping for is to take out both her opponents and let them have a slugfest while she stands knowingly stoic out of the fray. Dodge has an MBA from one of the best universities in the world in Economics & Finance (sort of important in the comptroller’s office), is a 6 time winner in local elections (Kelly has never won squat), a VP at Nielsen, a worldwide corporation with over 30,000 employees, a National Guardsman, and a member of METRA.
Kelly is a joke. He should have made good on his promise to Jack Roeser to step aside while he could save face and walk away with his dignity intact.
Next time Kelly calls you because he got himself in another jam and needs your help, and your first reaction is-like so many others before you-’what did he do NOW?’– think twice before helping him out. It’s about time that something called “natural consequences” hit him up the side of his head. There should be no more bailouts for William J. Kelly. Let him take the hit and LEARN SOMETHING FROM IT.
Topinka should be taught a lesson, too- at the polls in February. In the meantime, voters and representatives worth their salt ought should be discussing the pension problem and how to address pensions – like Topinka’s -that are somewhere in the neighborhood of 130% of their previous salary.

Bill Kelly should do the honorable thing and drop out of the IL Comptroller GOP nomination campaign. If he truly wants to help our party succeed in 2010, he must do so soon.
Don Castella
Chairman
Vernon Township Republican Central Committee

Dear Cao,
The firm of Martin Janis & Co. has a long and honorable history of representing conservative and Republican candidates. The firm has on the national level done media support for many Republican administrations. It is wrong – without any facts – to just slander our firm this way. It is not journalism or responsible blogging. What you have stated about our firm is wildly incorrect. We are currently representing Mr. Patrick Hughes and Mr. Kelly and have no other Illinois affiliations – as much of our work and connections is now national, not local.
Mr. Kelly is a very energetic candidate who does not believe in being a traditional candidate. He may be right to believe so – when so many Republicans and conservatives have failed in Illinois. Given that Mr. Roeser was featured on Upscale TV – Kelly’s Emmy award-winning TV show that was approved and aired by FOX for over three years – I find Roeser’s and Doug Ibendahl’s attack video pieces on Kelly very hypocritical and deceptive. It is a TV show, not real life. If you are willing to attack Kelly on this basis, are you also willing to attack FOX for approving and airing the show? Or Roeser for appearing on it? The TV industry isn’t easy – especially for a conservative. The politics of syndicated TV are very difficult to survive and Kelly has. Shall we just cede TV and entertainment to the liberals? Kelly has been a bold conservative – and taken incredible risks for years. I am surprised that you would so quickly turn on him in favor of those that haven’t done anything other than attack other conservatives.
Best,
Laura Grock
VP
Martin E. Janis & Co.
Dear Laura,
To begin with, I’ve never claimed to be a “journalist”. And I seriously think you should do some research as to what blogging is. There’s nothing “irresponsible” about reporting the facts. Bloggers are the citizens’ response to “journalists”, LOL…and I think we do a pretty fine job.
What your firm is doing is despicable and I feel sorry that Kelly is caught in the middle like this.
It is perfectly reasonable to conclude that someone that doesn’t have a pot to piss in couldn’t possibly be paying for your time…and the long relationship your firm has with Judy Baar Topinka is well-known, as is the fact that your firm stepped down from representing Cox after he called for Topinka’s resignation. If you want to push the issue, I’ll play your silly game.
There are many people who can be called witness to this and swear to it in court. Do you really want to engage in a legal battle over Bill Kelly? I would gladly do that if it would open up your books to full disclosure (which it will, in the discovery phase) over who is paying you for the time spent on his campaign, and about who all is living at that high-falutin’ McClurg Court street address of yours.
Slander–Slander is the oral communication of false statements that are harmful to a person’s reputation. If the statements are proven to be true, it is a complete defense to a charge of slander.
The information I have published here is TRUE and will easily be proven in any court of law- and my lawyers and my witnesses will back it up with sworn affadavits.
C’mon, now…people aren’t that stupid.
How do you think your firm got those national contracts? It was through Judy Baar Topinka who was the state republican chair at the time. You really need to check your own firm’s background there, dear.
Best,
Cao
Thanks for your comment, Don – I completely agree.
Laura Grock is the live-in girlfriend of Bill Kelly, and VP of Janis & Associates. Topinka has been close personal friends with Martin Janis for years and even hired Janis.
Lets run this theory by you conservatives. Judy Baar Topinka last summer wants to run a comeback and knows she has a problem with the conservative majority of the Republican Party. She also hears that a bright, great candidate in Jim Dodge is gearing up for the fight. She needs a useful idiot to take votes from Dodge so her usual 35-40% will be enough to win.
Topinka calls her old friend Janis who has a VP living in sin with such a useful idiot. Suddenly, Bill Kelly, who was having a unhealthy obsession with a certain Greek man currently the treasurer and a candidate for senate, now wants to run for comptroller. Didn’t make any sense until now.
Kelly’s girlfriend, told Bill he had to run for comptroller to protect Janis’ best client’s rear end. It is obvious, KELLY IS A STOOGE FOR TOPINKA.
Spread the word of this Judas!
LOL…the plot thickens
cao, i think your politics suck, but i think you are a really good writer, and more of a “journalist” than most. and on this topic, you are right on. Plus, thats a foxy thumbnail photo of you.
To “A Vote for Kelly is a Vote for Topinka” (btw, thats a long name to address, make it easier next time), your theory sounds plausible, except, it blows my theory that bill kelly is ***. Look at those videos, you think thats a straight man? Maybe, but I call that “overcompensating”.
WOW! Great column! Very good work connecting dots.
That Laura Grock is as much of a disgrace as Bill Kelly. Both cry and moan about “smears” – when the truth is they are the ones doing all the smearing and all the lying. Both are pathetic and both are laughingstocks statewide.
Keep up the great work Cao!
cao,
so, isn’t this brand of ‘fixing’ illegal? are you allowed to create your own crummy fake candidate to water down the oppositions votes? i don’t know, maybe its not, but it seems illegal, on top of being slimy & trashy.
It seems that way to me, Chris, but I’m not an expert. Maybe an expert reading this post can help with that.
I meant to post on this, and probably will today some time…but Bill Kelly used some lawyers who specialize in drug trafficking and DUI’s to file an injunction to prevent the Gitmo terrorists from being transferred to Thomson until there was a public hearing about it.
Today the news arrives that his Bid For Thomson Injuction Flopped – because he showed up in court without legal representation.
Of course, when asked, Judy Baar Topinka declined to comment. bwahahahahaha!
My only problem is that I have looked and looked and have found no official connection between Janis and Topinka. I even have the Janis client list and Topinka is not on it. I have also looked for political donations by Janis and Grock and no Topinka donations appear there. This is the part of the story, the part where it is claimed Janis works for Topinka, that I am having a hard time certifying.
And note the law firm Kelly enlisted has only 3 lawyers, all appearently family members. And yes, they specialize in criminal defense, *** crimes, DUIs, drug cases, etc.
The lead guy, looks like the dad, crows that he was John Wayne Gacy’s lawyer. That ended well. Hope he got the fee in advance. LOL
If the primary wasn’t less than 4 weeks away, this would all almost be funny. As it is, Topinka is the only one laughing.
Bill Kelly, Laura Grock and the rest of the idiot squad should leave the state in shame after this.
Someone with experience in Illinois politics-well outside my area of experience- will further reveal and explore the links between Janis and Topinka very soon, I can send you the link when that is published if you like, and will probably be posting it in comments and posting an actual blog post about it.
Warner, it’s definitely true. Marty Janis (the head of that media company that employs Laura Grock) and Topinka are VERY close. Have been tight together going way, way back. In fact they are so close, it’s possible Marty may not even charge her. The relationship is more friendship, even more so than profit motive. So I would not be surprised if it’s hard to find evidence of money changing hands.
In my view, that just makes the connection stronger.
Of course it’s also possible Janis is looking for state work down the road, via a constitutional officer.
But whatever the case, the fact remains, Marty Janis and Topinka are very tight. Those who have been around Topinka will tell you she consults Marty on most everything. Don’t forget, Topinka herself isn’t very bright.
Excellent. I’d love to see it.
I doubt it, TOTT…Bill can just go back to living in his mother’s basement.
Will flip it over to you, WTH…
I’d also like to know what Laura Gherle’s relationship is with Kelly…I think there may be some confusion between the two Lauras.
well, it appears that rush limbaugh, and fox news, is promoting this twit.
http://kellytruthsquad.wordpress.com/
gross.
Rush Limbaugh isn’t supporting him – Limbaugh reported on his clown act back when he heckled Clinton and was later arrested for it. It was forgiveable-about 20 years ago when he was a punk kid; he’s no longer a punk kid.
Not that he ever has been or will be a responsible adult…he’s the beneficiary of a trust fund daddy set up-because he saw fit not to leave anything to William J. Kelly directly, because he knew he’d piss it all away. The William F. Kelly Trust was executed on May 6, 1994, prior to the execution of his father’s will….
And that’s something that’s being investigated further…it doesn’t add up that somebody – even a Principal in Chicago’s school system – who makes a hundred or so grand a year–would have enough money in the end to leave a TRUST….the property at McClurg Court is in that Trust…which is why his Dad shows as 80-something years old when in reality he passed away in 2006.
Here’s the record of Janis contributions to Judy Baar Topinka (see the screencaps at this link)–- part of what shows there are these, but there is much more.

its pretty amazing that you dug this kind of info up, i mean, i know the information is out there, internet and all, still. very good digging. and its weird, i feel sorry for his dead father, i think about how bad i would have to screw up to have my father lose all trust in me, sad.
ps, you are still wrong about palin
executive experience, my eye, governor of that crummy state for a year and a half, she couldnt serve a full term? Even in that small amount of time, corruption charges abound. But shes a regular joe right!?! You betcha!
I expect that before 2012, you will have a change of heart on dear old hockey mom.
shut up about Palin, Chris – that is not a part of the discussion here. Read here, and leave comments arguing your points about Palin there–I’ll engage you on the subject, just not in discussions about Kelly.
I’ve read all this with great interest and I think I do believe it. Something’s not right about this time around with Judy Baar.
In her race for treasurer, she had the newspapers print a story quoting her that her Democratic opponent was under investigation. How ironic that the story ran just before the election. Well, it was close, but she won. Then after the election she was “oh, my bad. I guess I had wrong information and he wasn’t under investigation afterall.”
This time around she’s much too quiet. She isn’t traveling anywhere. And I read her Trib endorsement forms….my word…for someone with a degree in journalism (ah…that could be the reason for the newspaper endorsements), she sure doesn’t know how to use a spell check program. You can download it from the Trib site. It’s loaded with typos and misspelled words. Lazy and sloppy.
Ok, before I digress too much….my point is that being quiet during an election is not Judy Baar’s style. But I think her advisers have advised her to keep her mouth shut…..just run on her name. So, instead they picked Kelly to be her stooge. I do give her credit though…they picked a fine stooge. The end result…..Kelly gets all this free publicity for his cable tv show and Judy wins the race. It’s a no brainer.
Only I see one little detail they forgot about. Judy will get swallowed up by the Democrats in the November race. She talks a big game about combining the offices of treasurer and comptroller knowing full well it’s a constitutional mandate….something she just can’t do on her own. Besides, she held the treasurer’s office for a number of years….why didn’t she do it then.
I’d say it’s because her pension wasn’t large enough then. And if she’s so concerned about saving the Illinois taxpayers some money, she ought to re-visit her pension. What is it, like $143,000 a year???? Her campaign people say she’ll give that up if she wins. Hah..like it’s her choice. Of course she would stop getting a pension if she’s back working. But….after a little while in office again….what in the world would her pension be then? $200,000 a year? She’s one smart cookie.
But, I’m hoping Illinois voters can see right through her and her stooge. Neither of them have the financial background to efficiently and knowledgeably run this office. It’s a shame. She’s playing this game again…and in the end…..she’ll lose in November.
She sure spent a lot of money on consultants during the last two years…just sayin’ – And the connection to Janis does not show up in the filing at the Illinois State Board of Elections for this last period. Why should it? He’s “giving” Laura Grock to handle Kelly’s campaign doesn’t have to show up, then! Perfect! Business as usual for Judy Baar…when did Grock move in with Bill Kelly…? Is that entire relationship a set-up?
Their one mistake is that they didn’t realize how big of a clown Kelly really is.
I wonder if any of those consultants figured out what a Plan “B” would be.
Meanwhile, Kelly is hysterically calling people “ranting” that I’m attacking his dead father…making himself an even bigger joke. I called and left a message, saying that all three of them have my contact information – if they have a problem, they should contact me directly; and sent them the same thing through email. Roggiero and Kelly were the only two on the email list, but Grochocki is sending emails from Bill’s email account.
