News clips and upcoming event information:

ABSENTEE AND EARLY VOTING HAVE ALREADY STARTED AND THE ELECTION IS ONLY 7 DAYS AWAY

CHICAGO TRIBUNE

(FROM THE ARTICLE: At his inaugural address a little over one year ago, President Barack Obama appealed to a sense of commonality in the challenges facing Americans. “What is required of us now is a new era of responsibility a recognition on the part of every American that we have duties to ourselves, our nation and the world; duties that we do not grudgingly accept, but rather seize gladly, firm in the knowledge that there is nothing so satisfying to the spirit, so defining of our character than giving our all to a difficult task,” Obama said then. “This is the price and the promise of citizenship.” One year later, the view of the president from street-level is more polarized, on average, than that of any president since the Gallup Poll started measuring such things in the 1950s. The 65 percentage-point gap between Democrats who said they approved of Obama’s performance during the first year (88 percent) and Republicans who said they approved (23 percent) is “the largest for any president in his first year in office,” Gallup reports today. Prior to Ronald Reagan’s term, Gallup reports, this gap had never been wider than 40 percentage points. Since then, only the divide over George W. Bush has averaged less than 50 percent during the first term.)

(FROM THE ARTICLE: A Wheaton mother faces criminal charges after police said they found her two children home alone in a roach-infested apartment without electricity. Arezou Khamissi, 28, who appeared Monday in bond court, is charged with criminal neglect of a disabled person and endangering the life of a child. If convicted, she faces up to five years in prison. Khamissi also would be eligible for probation. Prosecutor Mary K. Cronin said two of Khamissi’s neighbors called police before 2 a.m. Sunday to the apartment complex on the 1300 block of North Main Street to check on a crying child.)

(THE COMMENTARY: What is it with the Republican Party nationally and locally here in Illinois, where they are afraid of offending the homosexuals? Ooooh, they have a lot of money (true that they seldom have kids, except what a corrupt court of law would give guardianship to a homosexual before they would a hetrosexual couple). They can ruin a campaign or contribute to the Democrats. . .some RINOs say. I’ve got news for RINOs. 90% of all homosexual money is given to the Democrat Party, you only have a trickle of it. One thing is for certain, you are selling out and weakening the Republican Party for your own personal gain. Do us all a favor and stop making the Republican Party into Democrat-Lite. You can get 10 times the amount of contributions to become a Democrat, so, please leave our party. When you take a campaign contribution, you are beholden to that group if it is queers, abortionists, or illegal alien communist lovers! This is politics! Have a spine, just say no, and don’t fear the queer!)

(FROM THE ARTICLE: Republicans in Illinois hold no statewide offices, carry minorities in both chambers of the State Legislature and struggle some years to recruit viable candidates even at the top of the ballot. But the election last week of a long-shot Republican, Scott Brown, to the Senate in Massachusetts, a similarly blue state, has breathed new life into Republicans here and suddenly turned next Tuesday’s statewide primaries – the first in the nation this year – into a pep rally for November and a possible window into what is to come nationally as the 2010 primary season unfolds.”Illinois is next,” Pat Brady, chairman of the state Republican Party, declared. “The political environment is worse here for Democrats than it was in Massachusetts.” Representative Mark Steven Kirk, the front-runner in the Republican primary for the Senate seat once held by President Obama, has even taken to talking like Mr. Brown. “No one should make the mistake by calling this the Obama seat,” he said in an interview. “This is the seat of the people of Illinois.” . . . Some argue that Mr. Kirk, as a five-term congressman and a moderate Republican with centrist-leaning views that have irked conservatives, may not benefit from voter unrest. (Democrats also have their eyes on his district in Chicago’s northern suburbs.) “In a key way, Illinois is Massachusetts in reverse,” said Kathleen Strand, a senior adviser to Illinois for the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee. “Here, the Republican candidate is the Washington insider that voters are angry at, not the Democrat.” In the view of some conservatives, Mr. Kirk, who supports abortions rights, fits right in with the Democratic candidates, and, they say that while he may gain unhappy Democratic voters and center-leaning independents, he will lose the votes of a different segment – some who consider themselves part of the Tea Party movement, anti-abortion advocates and others. Conservatives often cite Mr. Kirk’s vote in favor of cap-and-trade legislation intended to reduce carbon emissions; he has since reversed course, criticizing the legislation and saying he would vote against it as a senator. They also do not appreciate what they see as his effort to swerve to the right; some mocked his campaign for trying to win some supportive words from Sarah Palin when she was in recently Chicago. “Mark Kirk has absolutely no Tea Party support,” said Diane Benjamin, an organizer of a Tea Party group in McLean County, two hours southwest of Chicago. In the primary, there are several lesser known candidates, including Patrick Hughes, who has drawn support from some conservatives here and some Tea Party supporters (though not Ms. Benjamin), but most analysts say opposition to Mr. Kirk has not amounted to a movement unified and motivated enough to defeat him.)

– QUESTION: Sadly, what often happens when negative news comes out about a Republican candidate, elected official, party leader, contributor, endorser, advisor, staff member, volunteer, operative, etc.? – Dave Diersen

http://www.gopillinois.com

As everyone knows, Republicans are held to much higher standards than Democrats or RINOs are. QUESTION: Sadly, what often happens when negative news comes out about a Republican candidate, elected official, party leader, contributor, endorser, advisor, staff member, volunteer, operative, etc.? ANSWER: Sadly, they often act like Democrats and RINOs and do everything they can to suppress the news including threatening and bribing those who share information, including your GOPUSA Illinois Editor Dave Diersen. They argue that the negative news is false and malicious. They argue the negative news should be covered up. They argue that the negative news is not significant or relevant. They demonize and denigrate not only the source of the negative news but anyone who refuses to suppress it. Here is one example. When news came out that Sheila Dreisilker, who at the time was the Milton Township Republican Central Committee (MTRCC) Vice President West and in line to be MTRCC’s next Chairman, had moved out of her precinct, and therefore, was no longer eligible to hold her MTRCC position, nasty MTRCC RINOs did everything they could to suppress that negative news including threatening and bribing those who share information, including your GOPUSA Illinois Editor Dave Diersen. They argued that the negative news was false and malicious. They argued the negative news should be covered up. They argued that the negative news was not significant or relevant. They demonized and denigrated everyone who refused to cover up and suppress the negative news. They argued that Dreisilker should be allowed to break the rules because she “paid her dues.” They blamed me for all the problems Dreisilker had. What if those who knew about George Ryan’s criminal acts had not covered them up, but had instead, immediately reported them?
