Republican voters took some strange steps in the voting booth yesterday in some of these races – the 5th District is one of the ones that is incredibly difficult to understand…but then I can’t believe how many voted for Topinka and Kelly, either – in the Comptroller’s race.

Very decisive for Judy 59% – with 429,812 votes for comptroller
I just wonder who those people were…are they people who just vote Republican and didn’t know about Dodge or Kelly…? Is it because she had name recognition and they didn’t?
honestly, i was shocked that he got 22% of the vote, i mean really shocked. like nauseous. i think the key fact to remember is that topinka won with 500,000 votes, in a state that has like, i don’t know 25 million people. Nobody cares anymore.
“william j kelly comptroller” facebook group has turned to “william j kelly rebuild illinois”. i guess its good news for people like me.
My question is “rebuild illinois” a legit PAC? there is a donation button. Can you just ask for the money in the name for “illinois reform”? sounds insane. Also, the website is all written in his signature vague homo gibberish.
I was also shocked that William Kelly got 22% of the vote. I thought that he would receive 30%-35%, since he was the most conservative candidate, in that race.
um…he was Judy Baar Topinka’s stooge/clown act to siphon the conservative votes away from Dodge…which should become evident on her D2′s in about July when her payment to Martin Janis for their services shows up. All of their efforts should get Janis plenty of work down the road. Martin Janis, the outfit his live-in-girlfriend Laura Grock aka Grochocki works with or for, was “representing” Kelly..and seems to do so full-time, despite the fact that his d2′s showed just about every dime of the measly $4,000 he raised went back to them for a six-month period! Something really stinks about that…and although Dodge’s campaign outspent Kelly…Kelly somehow came out on top….after one foolish embarrassing publicity stunt after another.
That stinks out loud. Kelly’s campaign stinks out loud, and the simple fact that people like you are saying he ‘was the most conservative candidate’ also stinks out loud.
The guy’s idol is Hugh Hefner, who is a flaming democrat! He is living in sin with his girlfriend…and he never pays for anything. Those are not exemplary conservative views…this is a 40-something year old guy who is living like Peter Pan. There is nothing “conservative” about that.
PLUS–Mysogny does not go with Pro-Life!
And…if he’s living in sin and both Grochocki and Kelly were brought up catholic…you’d think they would have produced some children by now. Being that he’s “pro life” and all, right?
He’s a 40-something idiot with no accomplishments except – a big flapping jaw that you could drive a train through because he never shuts up.
He was a very successful puppet for Topinka and insured her victory.
conservative candidate. what part, the closeted homosexual, the live in “girlfriend”? the being totally broke, the faux womanizing? the hard core drinking?
oh cao, sigh, this person is only proving my point, look what the tea party hath wrought. a bunch of idiots who don’t look into anything, and follow the buzz word of the moment. i guess that word would be “rino”. “im for freedom, the other guys a NAZI!”. gag. our party will be split, we will get nowhere.
i bet you anything that “conservative veteran” thinks sarah palin is REALLY awesome too. i’m going to throw myself out my window now… talk to you later.
I think it’s society in general…not the fault of any party in particular. I saw a video where girls could rattle off the name of Branjolina’s children but couldn’t tell you the year 9/11 happened.
Is that the fault of a party? I don’t think so.
Cao,
David Ratowitz’ team simply out-worked the other candidates in the race for the GOP nomination for IL 5th CD. His libertarian Republican message made an impact on voters. His ground game was unbelievable.
Rossana Pulido focused too much on illegal immigration, anti-*** rights, and pro-life issues. Those issues aren’t the most important issues for GOP primary voters in IL 5th CD. Otherwise, how did Ratowitz beat her?
The number one issues in IL 5th CD is jobs. Number two is spending. Number three is taxes. Jobs, spending, taxes.
Ashvin Lad didn’t differentiate himself enough from Mike Quigley in my view. He needed sharper talking points about how he’d fix old problems with new ideas. He never shifted gears. Just being a nice guy isn’t a reason to run.
In the race for Comptroller, Jim Dodge ran radio ads that turned-off many Republican primary voters, “Married with 2 children, Jim Dodge is a ‘real’ Republican…” This isn’t a party of bigots. Let’s talk about what you’d do as Comptroller, Jim. Too late.
Thanks,

bwahahaha!
So…in your estimation…Jim Dodge’s saying that he’s married with children…declares him as a bigot???
bwahahahahaha!!!
In whose white-guilt-ridden fantasyworld?
Bill Kelly was seen getting out of Topinka’s car at an event…
Who knows what it was that got Topinka so much of the vote…but Dodge’s “bigotry” isn’t one of them. I think it had a lot to do with Topinka’s paid clown act, Bill Kelly – with Martin Janis’ help.
And I will continue to pursue the long list of NO ACCOMPLISHMENTS of Bill Kelly long after this election is finished…
Because there is a lot more that stinks about him than his fake press conferences with no press present – with inserted applause tracks and inserted sounds of cameras- his fishy affiliation with Martin Janis through his live-in-girlfriend that leads right back to Topinka, the organization called “Reform Illinois” that was never registered – and the fact that the National Taxpayers United – of which he is supposedly a former Executive Director – didn’t endorse him.’
As far as Ratowitz is concerned…he should never have gotten on the ballot.
And Ashvin Lad is a joke; connected with Obama – and the GOP State Central Committee’s Tom Cross.
Jim Dodge did discuss what he would do as Comptroller, something that Kelly NEVER did during his campaign. Jim was reinforcing his conservative values to the voters. Kelly does not have any sincere VALUES of any sort. Your argument against Dodge is ridiculous and unintellectual. Dodge ran a great campaign against a joke and an old hag that never left her couch. How is Dodge a bigot for having a family?
LOL…Kelly’s goal was not to get elected…it was to siphon conservative votes from Dodge to insure Topinka’s win.
ding ding ding!
He was successful.
Cao,
I’m sure you have noticed that the Kelly/Mannis/Grock smear machine continues. With no evidence whatsoever and with many gargantuan leaps to unfounded conclusions, they continue to spout falsehoods against you, Paul Mitchell, Doge, and even Jack Roeser.
There’s one thing I have wondered about Kelly- his web site says he was the former director of Jim Tobin’s group, National Taxpayers United of Illinois. Kelly’s site further claims that NTUI is an affiliate of National Taxpayers Union based in Alexandria, VA.
From a conversation I had years ago with NTU’s former director John Berthoud (regrettably now deceased) I know that NTUI (Tobin’s group) is NOT an NTU affiliate.
I was wondering about Kelly’s “service”as Exec Dir of NTUI so I e-mailed Mr. Tobin and asked him if Kelly’s claim was true and if so, when did he serve as their Exec Dir and what did he accomplish during that time. Unfortunately, Mr. Tobin never replied to my inquiries.
These questionable claims are the basis for Kelly’s supposed 20 years as a conservative activist.
It would be interesting to know conclusively if they are true.
Yes, Kelly’s claims should all be examined; it’s actually funny to me that they haven’t shut up….but I think they have a problem that I didn’t drop the story right after the primary.
They sound just like conservative-hating Topinka….and are behaving like her.
As I’ve said before…there is something weird about the name of that outfit – and the fact that all you need do to be endorsed by them is sign a pledge.
And isn’t it also odd – that Kelly himself wasn’t endorsed by them, being that he is supposedly its former Executive Director?
What I found very interesting was that Kelly was endorsed by organizations either affiliated with Topinka’s lapdogs at Martin Janis – or that succumbed to threats from Laura Grock (a lapdog for Topinka).
Who are some of the biggest critics of Topinka? Jack Roeser and Champion News.
And who did Kelly’s campaign kick in the face? Jack Roeser and Champion News.
Mr. Tucker –
It is no doubt that you are infatuated with Ratowitz based on some of Cao’s past posts being a Libertarian like him. You were just too blinded to see why Ratowitz really won – HE PORTRAYED HIMSELF AS SOMETHING HE’S NOT– a social conservative. He did this to take away votes from Rosanna. Why wait until his last mailer to say he supports “Right to Life?†People realized that Rosanna had lost before, so they wanted to give another “social conservative†a chance now. Much to their dismay as they will no doubt find out, Ratowitz, with his on-going deceitful tactics (see Cao’s earlier posts), and tax issues (as detailed in another blog), was able to fool them all. How soon until he jumps the social conservative ship to go pander to the pro-choice and pro-*** marriage crowd? Remember he is a Libertarian.
Rosanna and Lad both spoke about jobs, spending, and taxes. You were just too in love with your fellow Libertarian to notice. Say what you will about Rosanna and Lad “not shifting gears,†but at least they were themselves this whole time and did not try to be something they were not.
Rosanna and Lad were both the better candidates!
