Fellow Republicans:
News clips and upcoming event information:
TOWNHALL
(DIERSEN: DuPage County is at the heart of the Illinois Republican Party, Milton Township is at the heart of DuPage County, and Wheaton is the heart of Milton Township. It is beyond outrageous, it is beyond disgusting, it is beyond treasonous that so many Wheaton, Milton Township, DuPage County, Illinois, and United States “Republican” leaders have let anti-religious Marxists take over Wheaton College. As everyone knows, for decades, outrageous, disgusting, and treasonous Wheaton, Milton Township, DuPage County, Illinois, and United States “Republican leaders” have spent most, if not all their time, effort, and money driving conservatives, that is, platform Republicans, that is, the base of the Republican Party, out of the Republican Party. Of course, those “Republican leaders” see no problem with what has happened at Wheaton College.)
(THE ARTICLE: There’s hardly an evangelical who doesn’t know about Wheaton College. Alma Mater of the Reverend Billy Graham, Wheaton boasts a student body of superior intellect and an education rivaling much of the Ivy League. Wheaton College graduates can boast of presidential speech writers and Speakers of the United States House of Representatives along with doctors and executives and professors and missionaries and pastors across the globe. But Wheaton is different. Founded by an anti-slavery father and son, Jonathan and Charles Blanchard, Wheaton was established as a chain in the Underground Railroad to help runaway slaves. Wheaton’s distinctive has always been to educate students not only with knowledge but with wisdom. All truth is God’s truth. The knowledge of God brings greater understanding, not less. . .the acknowledgement of Him brings order from chaos in science, mathematics and economic systems. To be a Christ follower can bring the highest of intellectual pursuits, not the Bible thumping ignorance Hollywood would portray. So imagine the dismay of many to learn that, in an effort to educate its students, Wheaton has moved to the left, so much so that in a survey by the Wheaton Record, 60 percent of its faculty voted for President Barack Obama, the most pro-abortion, pro-homosexual agenda, spiritually confused president the nation has ever elected. How can this be? Perhaps much of it can be attributed to a movement widely embraced by the campus known as “social justice.” In its truest form, justice is synonymous with Christian teaching. Why else would Christians through the ages have left the comfort of their home and culture to go to remote villages and treat the sick and preach the “good news” of a universal savior, Jesus Christ. Why would the William Wilberforces and the American abolitionists have sacrificed so much to eliminate the slave trade? Why would most hospitals trace their beginnings to founders compelled by their faith to treat the sick? Soup kitchens. . .homeless shelters. . .inner city missions the same? Why if not for the cause of justice? But as is often the case for the Left, words are co-opted and meanings changed. To be “gay” is to be homosexual. To abort a baby is to exercise “choice” and to exercise “social justice” is to identify the oppressed and the oppressors and define all of history past and present as a series of injustices. Whites oppress blacks. . .even 6-year-old white children are intrinsically racist. Big business oppresses the working man. . .even business owners who are honest and generous. To be successful in business is to oppress and the score must be evened to obtain justice. Heterosexuals oppress homosexuals with no allowance for moral objection. According to this definition of “social justice,” the oppressor and the oppressed must be identified and actions taken accordingly. In the current document known as the “conceptual framework” of the education department at Wheaton College which must be endorsed by each of its faculty, the thinkers cited include among others, the father of the social justice movement, Brazilian Marxist, Paulo Freire and former Weather Underground terrorist Bill Ayers. Just a glimpse at Freire’s foundational treatise “Pedagogy of the Oppressed” will clearly display his sources: Marx, Lenin and revolutionary murderers Mao Tse Tung, Fidel Castro and Che Guevera (see, “Pedagogy of the Oppressor,” March 28, 2009, in National Review by Sol Stern). Professor Bill Ayers, co-founder of the Weather Underground, wanted the violent overthrow of the United States Government. Now elevated as a teacher of teachers, Ayers publicly states he has no regrets for his violence and only wished he had done more. The overthrow of the capitalist society was the goal of all these men and violence was their method. Today’s radicals condense their rage into college curricula under the guise of “social justice.” The method is more cunning, but the goal no less sinister. Why would Wheaton College embrace such a philosophy? “. . .these are people you can learn from because they’re going to teach us Christians that maybe we have some blind spots here, that we’ve been oblivious to certain areas of injustice,” said President Duane Litfin. Dr. Jillian Lederhouse, chairman of the department of education defended the conceptual framework by saying “we don’t teach our students to be afraid on an ideology as long as we give them a critical perspective. We do not have a list of people we do not read. Our goal is to produce a thinking Christian teacher.” And that is as it should be in an institution of higher learning, except for one thing. Lederhouse went on to admit that the people who were foundational to Wheaton’s conceptual framework were all on the far left. There is deep concern by Wheaton graduates over the current trajectory at Wheaton. They are lobbying the board and the administration to make the deep changes necessary to pull Wheaton back from academic fads that threaten its future and guide it back to its true foundations, the wisdom of the ages displayed beautifully at the entrance to the campus: “For Christ and His Kingdom.”)
WHEATON COLLEGE
- BEYOND OUTRAGEOUS BECAUSE THE DEMOCRAT PARTY PLATFORM IS SO OUTRAGEOUSLY ANTI-RELIGIOUS: College Democrats To educate students about the Democratic Party, particularly from an evangelical Christian perspective; to promote a desire for social justice by supporting the democratic party at local, state and national levels. 2

(DIERSEN: A major reason why many Christians are not a member of any church is that most churches have already been or will soon be invaded, infested, corrupted, and destroyed by those who promote a) “social justice,” otherwise known as Marxism and/or b) homosexual activity. A major reason why many conservatives have left the Republican Party is that most Republican political organizations have already been or will soon be invaded, infested, corrupted, and destroyed by Democrats, Libertarians, RINOs, etc. who a) reject some, most, or all of the Republican Party platform and/or b) promote homosexual activity.)
TOM ROESER
(THE ARTICLE: One of the first things handicappers use as they compare notes on viable candidates is the question: Can he raise dough? Up to now the answer on Bill Brady the all-but-declared-victor of the Republican gubernatorial nomination is decidedly no. All his primary campaigns were run on shoe-string budgets and this is no different from others. I’m not even sure he had a campaign manager during the primary although reportedly he has one now. This is an important disadvantage for Brady. One of the first things that seasoned handicappers liked about Kirk Dillard was he can raise dough. . .not in the lavish amounts Andy McKenna, Jr. did through his old man’s deep pockets and bottomless contacts but satisfactorily enough to get through a general election. To be successful for governor a candidate should have $10 million either on hand or available for the scooping into his cache. Of course idealistic right-to-lifers. . .some of whom endorsed Brady. . .think of nothing else but a 100% voting record aren’t interested in the ability to raise campaign money, essential to win elections. Not for them. Their scratch sheets showing 100% pro-life voting record is sufficient. For them big dough is what they shell out at a silent pro-life auctions in church basements: $50. Let’s be polite and say that Brady is not nearly even in the distant neighborhood of collecting a couple million today–while Pat Quinn has coffers full from Big Labor and other liberal interests. For which we can all say: Thanks, Jim Ryan and Andy McKenna for your unpredictable entry into the primary which put us in this spot when without your entry there was a distinctly good chance Republicans could capture the governorship.)
DAILY HERALD
(THE LETTER: It came as little surprise, but I was still disappointed, when the Daily Herald obediently followed the Republican establishment endorsements of Andy McKenna, Matt Murphy, Judy Topinka and Mark Kirk despite its editorializing throughout the past year for new and fresh candidates who could sweep corruption and bring needed change to Illinois. McKenna, Murphy, Topinka and Kirk were hand-picked by the Republican establishment and then promoted and supported financially, in its mistaken belief that retreads and left-of-center candidates are the way to go for a winning Republican ticket in the November general election. There was some good news for Illinois conservative voters, tea party movement people and pro-family voters who have long rejected the dictatorial approach of the establishment in handpicking candidates. Their votes did make a difference. Andy McKenna went down in a yet unsettled race for governor, leaving pro-life senators Bill Brady and Kirk Dillard in a tie for the governorship candidacy. Jason Plummer, a fresh new face and also pro-life, defeated Matt Murphy as the Republican nominee for lieutenant governor. My biggest disappointment was the selection by Republican primary voters of Mark Kirk to represent Illinois in the U.S. Senate. Is it possible for a candidate who strays far from Republican values to be supported by conservatives and tea party movement people in the November general election? Pragmatic individuals will vote for Kirk for the sake of electing a Republican, even if that Republican is objectionable to them. For others, Mark Kirk only defiles the name of the Republican Party in his rejection of the principles outlined in both the state and the national Republican platform. As such Mark Kirk is looked upon as a classic RINO, or a Democrat in sheep’s clothing. Kirk’s voting record speaks of an individual where there is little daylight on issues between Giannoulias and himself. Even if Mark Kirk should win the U.S. Senate race given that Illinois has twice as many Democrat as Republican voters, and that Democrats will surely mount a brutal and nasty fight to keep the Senate seat in the Democrat aisle, Democrats will still win as Mark Kirk, for starters, is a reliable Democrat on social issues. This question remains, will Mark Kirk generate interest from real Republicans in the Nov. 2 general election, the base of the Republican Party, to win his Senate race, or will Republican conservative voters opt out of casting a vote for U.S. Senate candidate Mark Kirk, as well as Judy Topinka as a matter of conscience? Conservatism is alive and well in Illinois. It will only falter if conservative Republicans give up and allow the establishment to call the shots. The Nov. 2 general election will be an important one.)
- DIERSEN HEADLINE: Victor Darst of West Dundee blames people who were elected as Republicans for: “a disastrous decision to invade Iraq at a tremendous cost both in lives and money; a bungled prosecution of the war in Afghanistan; illegal electronic surveillance of Americans; a laissez-faire economic policy that resulted in an economic crisis; huge job losses; a collapsed housing market; a failure to address the problem of health care cost; the loss of billions in personal wealth; and a failure to deal with illegal aliens.” 6

- DIERSEN HEADLINE: Cathy Bieber of Arlington Heights argues that because Al Turner received the second most votes, the Illinois Democrat Party State Central Committee (SCC) should select Turner to fill the Scott Cohen vacancy. - DIERSEN HEADLINE: Cook v. Venturi: Lake County Republican Precinct Committeemen to elect party chairman by weighted vote on March 3 10
(THE ARTICLE: Venturi has challenger County GOP post – Jim Newton Lake County Republican Party Chairman Dan Venturi is facing opposition for his post at the county Republican Party Central Committee’s biennial convention Wednesday. Bob Cook, a former Wauconda Township Republican chairman, is running against Venturi. Venturi, the Lake Villa Township supervisor, is seeking his third two-year term as head of the county GOP. He said he is running on his record of accomplishments and believes he has united county Republicans. “I think that’s something I’ve done pretty well,” Venturi said. “There were some (divisions) when I took the job four years ago.” Cook said he was approached by members of the county Republican’s executive committee and asked to run for the post. He indicated he believes local Republicans could be getting better results at the polls. “When a team is underperforming, you can’t fire the team. So you fire the coach and get a new coach,” Cook said. Cook said he wants to emphasize supporting all of the Republican candidates in the November election, and that competition for the chairman post shouldn’t distract from that. After Wednesday’s election at Midlane Golf Resort in Waukegan, he said, “We all get on the same page for November.” A third candidate for the local GOP chairmanship, Don Castella, announced this week that he was withdrawing from the race to support Cook. “I will work to ensure that Bob Cook wins election as Lake County Republican chairman and that his tenure as chairman brings a new era of success to the Lake County Republican Central Committee,” Castella said. The Lake County Democratic Party Central Committee will also hold its convention Wednesday evening, but likely with less drama. Incumbent party Chairman and state Sen. Terry Link of Waukegan is seeking his 10th two-year term at the post. Link, who joked he should get a watch after 20 years of service, said he plans to address the convention at the Waukegan Ramada Inn to help rally the troops for the general election. At the conventions, precinct committeemen cast weighted votes to elect county chairmen.)

(DIERSEN: There are tremendous similarities between Blagojevich and his supporters and George Ryan and his supporters. By their actions and by their inactions, tragically, the Illinois Republican Party, the DuPage County Republican Central Committee, the Milton Township Republican Central Committee, and many other anti-conservative organizations in Illinois continue to make it clear that they are dominated by George Ryan supporters.)

Illinois Democrats have posted a job application to their Web site in hopes of finding a good No. 2 to run with Gov. Pat Quinn in the fall election. The application requests basic contact information and asks those interested to answer four questions: Why are you a Democrat? Have you previously held elected office? If so, which one(s)? - Quinn more concerned about stray dogs than people of Illinois While millions of Illinoisans are suffering under record unemployment and a state on the verge of bankruptcy, Democrat Gov. Pat Quinn is worried about. . .stray dogs. According to Michael Sneed, Quinn is on the war path over Republican gubernatorial candidate Bill Brady’s legislation that would allow stray dogs in shelters to be euthanized. Quinn went so far as to channel Rin Tin Tin in his comments. A bit hypocritical since Quinn and his party, who have long controlled every lever of government in Illinois, are effectively euthanizing jobs, education, transportation, and all our futures with their left-wing public policy agenda. 22
- Bloated state of Illinois hosts obesity prevention hearing You can’t make this stuff up. Nanny-staters in Springfield, will hold an initial hearing today on obesity and how to prevent it in Illinois. The Department of Public Health wants to “talk about policy and personal changes that are needed to help people get to and maintain a healthy weight.” The next hearing will be in Springfield on March 8 and in Carbondale on March 15. Presumably because there are a lot of fat people in both locations. IDEA: How about all the state agencies “talk” about how they can go on a budget diet and leave the rest of us alone. U.S. NEWS & WORLD REPORT
- DIERSEN HEADLINE: Peter Roff argues that during 2010, a “Republican War of Ideas Is a Good Thing.” Diersen disagrees. Political parties exist to defend and advance their platform. The Republican Party had a “war of ideas” in 2008 while it was putting its platform together. Ever since that platform was approved at the Republican Party convention in 2008, Republican candidates, elected officials, party leaders, contributors, etc. should have been working hard to defend and advance the party’s platform. Instead, beyond outrageously, beyond tragically, many RINO candidates, RINO elected officials, RINO party leaders, RINO contributors, etc. who reject some, most, or all of the Republican Party platform have again used the failed “big tent” policy to drive conservatives, that is, platform Republicans, that is, the base of the Republican Party out of the Republican Party. Obviously, tea parties formed because of the success that these platform-rejecting RINOs are having in destroying the Republican Party. 39

– DuPage County Republican Precinct Committeemen to elect party chairman by weighted vote on March 3 – Dave Diersen
http://www.gopillinois.com
On February 8, 2010, GOPUSA ILLINOIS urged DuPage County Republican Party Chairman candidate Dan Cronin to take the following actions:
– Schedule a major DuPage County Republican unity event as soon as the gubernatorial primary election issue is resolved.
– Immediately post on the DuPage County Republican Central Committee’s (DCRCC) website a) the Illinois Republican Party (IRP) platform; b) DCRCC’s by-laws (now posted in searchable PDF format on the www.gopillinois.com Files page); c) information, including hyperlinks to campaign websites, for all Republican candidates who will be on November 2, 2010 ballots in DuPage County; d) the names of the Chairs and members of all DCRCC committees; e) etc.
– Publish the names of those he wants to serve as the IRP State Central Committee (SCC) members for each of DuPage County’s three congressional districts, DCRCC Secretary, DCRCC Vice Chairman, DCRCC Treasurer, DCRCC Chairwoman, DCRCC Committee Chairs, DCRCC Committee Chair members, and DCRCC employees.
– Invite all precinct committeemen and elected officials to attend monthly DCRCC Executive Committee (EC) meetings, post the agenda for the meetings well in advance of the meetings, include an open comment period in each of the meetings, and limit items discussed in executive session to only those items traditionally discussed in executive sessions. According to Article V, Section 5 of DCRCC’s by-laws, those invitees who “can contribute to the ideals and welfare of the Organization” can attend monthly county party meetings as “observers.”
– Send out an email on the first of each month to all DuPage County Republican precinct committeemen and elected officials that a) summaries the minutes of the DCRCC EC meeting during the month just ended, b) lists DCRCC’s accomplishments during the month just ended, c) lists what DCRCC will do during the month ahead, d) reports on township party meetings held during the month just ended, e) lists the schedule of township party meetings for the month ahead, f) provides hyperlinks to major articles posted during the month just ended that directly impact DuPage County, g) lists funds raised and money spent during the month just ended, h) summaries the DCRCC Chairman’s report on the Republican County Chairmen’s Association meeting during the month just ended, i) summaries reports from the three IRP SCC members that represent DuPage County, j) etc.
– Provide DuPage County Republicans with information on the party’s financial condition. According to the Illinois State Board of Elections, during the last 6 months of 2009, the party raised $49,226.36 (including $375 from Diersen), borrowed $25,000.00, and spent $93,550.96. It began the period with $70,718.28 on hand and ended with $51,393.68.
– Report on efforts by individual township parties and their success in a) having an active elected precinct committeeman in each of their precincts, b) maximizing Republican turnout for each election, c) maximizing attendance a monthly township meetings, d) having the best possible election headquarters, e) etc.
– Announce when and where the first “annual coffee” for DuPage County “Constitution Club” members will be held.
– Per Article V, Section 8 of DCRCC’s by-laws, appoint and establish an Advisory Committee that would suggest ways to reach out to DuPage County conservatives, that is, to DuPage County platform Republicans, that is, to the base of the DuPage County Republican Party.
– Propose that the DCRCC adopt a resolution similar to, if not stronger than, the one that the RNC recently adopted — “RESOLVED, that the Republican National Committee urges that no support, financial or otherwise, be given to candidates who clearly do not support the core principles and positions of the Republican Party as expressed in the Platform of the Republican Party.”
– Make it clear that he will not appoint or reappoint anyone to any DCRCC position who a) endorses Democrats, b) gives money to Democrats, c) accepts money from Democrats, or d) demonizes or denigrates conservatives.
– Go back to supporting SB600 like State Senator and 14th Congressional District candidate Randy Hultgren did.
– Respond to the aforesaid suggestions at TAPROOT’s February 20 breakfast meeting, or sooner, if possible.
