(THE ARTICLE: In a show of party unity, Republican State Sen. Bill Brady kicked off his campaign for governor Sunday with a rally in Addison. Brady was joined by the men who opposed him in the primary, as well as the rest of the state GOP ticket. All of Bill Brady’s rivals attended the event, except Andy McKenna. ABC7 is told McKenna had a prior family commitment. But most notably, Kirk Dillard did attend. He and Brady ran neck-and-neck leading up to the primary election. Dillard lost, and now, Dillard says he is a big supporter of Bill Brady. More than 200 others also came to help Brady kick off his campaign. Because the central Illinois state senator is not well known in the Chicago area, Brady decided to launch his statewide campaign in the northern corridor of the state. He played it safe by having the rally in relatively conservative DuPage County. Brady is against abortion, even in the case of rape and incest. He also has said he plans to ban same-sex marriages. But the candidate never mentioned those views Sunday, and instead, he talked about how to get Chicago out of the financial mess. “We have to make Illinois competitive again. We over-tax and over-regulate and over-litigate, and it is going to stop now, for the future of our children and grandchildren,” Brady said. “I am committed to getting my friend and colleague Bill Brady elected as the governor of the next state. We need a Republican governor so badly in Springfield,” said Dillard. Kirk Dillard also said that during the last three days, he actually spent time with Bill Brady campaigning. Brady was expected to launch a listening tour Monday, which will begin in Elk Grove Village. His challenge is to get his name out there in this part of the state.)

(THE ARTICLE: Addison, ILL – St. Sen Bill Brady brought his campaign for governor to Gov. Pat Quinn’s backyard on Sunday, and introduced himself to the biggest bloc of voters in Illinois. Before a cheering crowd in west suburban Addison, the Republican candidate rallied Sunday with his supporters and all but one of the candidates he defeated in the February primary. The Republican primary election was filled with candidates from Du Page county, but it was Brady — the state senator from Bloomington — who won. “[Quinn] is the party of old, the party of uncontrolled governmental spending building on the backs of our children and grandchildren,” Brady told a sign-waving crowd. “We are the party of living within our means, of making do for the future generations of this great state.” Brady also got the vocal support of St. Sen Kirk Dillard, who missed being the party’s nominee by a mere couple hundred votes. “You know, unlike Pat Quinn, Bill Brady has a plan to cut the state budget by 10 percent,” Dillard told the crowd to applause.” A Rasmussen poll released last Tuesday shows Brady leading Quinn by 10 percent statewide, but to win in November, he will have to boost his name recognition in the Chicago area. Brady knows where votes are concentrated — and said it’s no co-incidence today’s rally was in the heart of Pat Quinn country. “Two-thirds of the people live up here. I want to represent them in the governor’s office,” he said. “I look forward to getting to know them better, they’ll get to know me better and I think that will prove successful for November.” Governor Quinn’s campaign did not return our request for a comment on Brady’s northern offensive. Only one Republican candidate for governor did not attend the unity rally. Andy McKenna used to be the state Republican party chairman. Brady said McKenna skipped the event because of family obligations.)

(THE ARTICLE: We will take back a government that has overspent, overtaxed and damaged the credibility of the state of Illinois. That was the message trumpeted by Republican gubernatorial candidate Bill Brady during a DuPage County rally on Sunday. Addressing a crowd of nearly 400 rabid Republicans all waving Brady campaign signs, Brady and the other members of the statewide Republican ticket, said when elected they will break from the politics of the past to bring ethical and open government to Illinois. “We need policies that will allow businesses to flourish in Illinois,” Brady said. “Not only will we fight against tax increases, we will fight for tax reduction!” To roaring applause and chants of “Brady,” Brady said his administration will end irresponsible fiscal policies in Illinois and protect the future of the state. He said state government must live within its means and not borrow against future generations like Gov. Pat Quinn is proposing in his budget plan. Over the next eight months Brady said he plans to travel the state and listen to the concerns of the people. Brady said he’s never won an election without reaching out to independents and conservative Democrats. He said he plans on continuing that practice in this statewide campaign. “We are here for the people of Illinois, not our own self interests. Politicians do not know everything and it is important that we hear from the people about their concerns,” Brady said. Jason Plummer, Brady’s running mate, seconded Brady. He said his campaign is not about winning glory, but rather about returning Illinois to prosperity through sound fiscal responsibility. He said the days of irresponsible spending are over. “The people are speaking across this nation. They spoke in New Jersey, then Virginia and then in Massachusetts. I’m looking forward to being the next Massachusetts and getting all our Republicans elected,” Plummer said. DuPage Republican Chairman Dan Cronin kicked off the rally by touting Republican chances in November. Cronin said the Republican Party across the United States is as united as ever. “They said a year ago that we were done, that we were gone forever, but look at us now,” said Cronin. Cronin said the people are looking for the Republican Party to lead the state and nation back to prosperity. He said the party has “the formula and the answers” to the nation’s concerns. Cronin said Democratic leadership has ruined Illinois through poor fiscal and ethical management. He said electing a Republican slate will bring principled leadership back to Illinois. In a show of unity all the Republican gubernatorial candidates took the stage and publicly touted the Brady campaign. Bob Schillerstrom, current Chairman of the DuPage County Board, said it’s time to bring back “the Republican principles that work so well” to Illinois. Each of the former candidates touted themes of lowering taxes, fiscal responsibility, creating a pro-business environment, personal responsibility, ethical leadership and family values. Ill. Sen. Kirk Dillard of DuPage County, who lost to Brady by less than 300 votes, said he is committed to getting Brady elected governor. He said there is no better fiscal conservative currently serving in the Illinois Senate than Bill Brady. He said unlike Quinn, Brady would be tough on crime and not grant early release to dangerous criminals. Dillard also said he the people would be better served if a victorious Brady took the lead on legislative redistricting rather than leaving the critical map drawing to career politicians like Speaker Mike Madigan.)
ILLINOIS REVIEW
(THE ARTICLE: State Senator Bill Brady launched his 2010 bid for governor Sunday afternoon in Addison, joined by other candidates on the IL GOP ticket in November — State Senator Dan Rutherford for Treasurer, Robert Rodriquez for Secretary of State, Jason Plummer for LG and Steven Kim for Attorney General. Not in attendance was Judy Baar-Topinka, candidate for State Comptroller.)
(DIERSEN: Yes, but what if all the churches that you might possibly attend have been invaded, infested, corrupted, if not destroyed a) by advocates of homosexual activity, Marxists, socialists, communists, totalitarians, and worse and/or b) by the anti-religious Democrats who preach that you get into HEAVEN by voting for the anti-religious Democrats?)
CHICAGO TRIBUNE
(THE ARTICLE: Republican governor candidate Bill Brady promoted support for his candidacy from former rivals Sunday as he launched an effort to win over suburban moderate and independent voters unfamiliar with his record and background as a central Illinois state lawmaker. Brady also said his pro-business background could help the GOP expand support to an African-American and Latino community looking for private-sector job creation and educational improvement and contended Democrats “turned their backs on the needs of minorities.” Speaking at a unity event at the Alta Villa banquet hall in west suburban Addison, the Bloomington state senator received a show of support from his Feb. 2 primary rivals for governor– five of whom have ties to DuPage County including state Sen. Kirk Dillard, who recently conceded a 193-vote defeat to Brady. “I do know there’s a lot of people that need to know more about what I stand for, what our ticket stands for and what our party stands for,” Brady told several hundred people at the rally. “It’s going to be important that we reach out and sell that message.” While Brady wants to campaign as an anti-tax increase, budget-cutting conservative, Democratic Gov. Pat Quinn will seek to paint him as far to the right on social issues such as abortion rights and church interaction in public schools. On Sunday, Nancy Brady, the candidate’s wife, introduced her husband as “the person that I pray will be the next governor of the state.” Brady, however, said he’s never been able to win office dependent upon Republican votes alone-even in his conservative GOP base of McLean County. “This election is our time. It is our time to reach out, to reach beyond traditional Republican boundaries and borders, to reach out to independents and Democrats, to reach out to minorities – blacks and Latinos – -and share the vision we have for the future of Illinois,” he said. “Minorities are not, in this state, dependent on government jobs They’re looking for private-sector jobs,” said Brady, a real estate developer with other business interests. “They understand it’s private-sector principles that will bring big-box construction jobs, permanent jobs and affordable quality food to their communities.” Joined by many of his statewide GOP ticketmates, Brady decried Quinn repeatedly as representing “the party of old” and called him “a candidate who refused to recognize the sins of the last eight years that have blackened the eye of Illinois on every late night talk show”-a reference to indicted former Gov. Rod Blagojevich whom Quinn replaced in January 2009. But as he attacked Quinn’s recent call for a 33 percent increase in the state’s income tax-moving the personal rate from 3 percent to 4 percent-Brady also said he would not use his position as a state senator to sponsor his own budget plan. Brady has called for 10 percent across-the-board cuts in spending as well as a $1 billion reduction in taxes in a state which faces a $13 billion budget deficit and has a backlog of $5 billion in unpaid bills. He has declined to offer budget specifics that go beyond those broad outlines. “It doesn’t need to be put in legislation. It’s not complex,” Brady said of his fiscal plans. “We’re not going to play (the Democrats’) game. They’re all about politics and game playing.”)
DAILY HERALD
(FROM THE ARTICLE: State Sen. Bill Brady renewed attacks on the governor’s call for a tax increase Sunday in Addison and promised to increase private-sector jobs as he officially began his campaign to be the next governor of Illinois. With running mate Jason Plummer and other GOP office candidates at his side, Brady said Gov. Pat Quinn’s idea was nothing more than borrowing from the future to pay for the past. . .The location of the event was no coincidence. Brady struggled during the primary campaign in the Chicago area, picking up just 23,579 of the 406,655 Republican votes in Chicago and the collar counties. With two-thirds of the state’s population in the area, Brady acknowledged that it is important to do well here. One component of that, he said, was to make sure voters come out in November, saying the 23 percent voter turnout in the primary was disappointing. He also said that the time was right for the GOP to seize an opportunity given to them by Democrats. “This election is not only about Republicans,” he said. “We have to reach out to independents, Democrats, minorities – blacks and Latinos – and share a vision of the future of Illinois.”)

GOPUSA ILLINOIS urges the Brady campaign to seek to use for its DuPage County campaign headquarters the beautiful centrally located highly visible $2.9 million 20,278 s.f. Webb Dodge Building on 2.56 acres at 285 Roosevelt Road in Glen Ellyn – Dave Diersen.
http://www.gopillinois.com
With many thanks to Brad Webb, since December 8, 2009, the Milton Township Republican Central Committee (MTRCC) has had free use of the showroom area of this outstanding building. MTRCC has used that area for assembling campaign materials and distributing them to precinct committeemen, for its December 9 Christmas Party, for its January 13 monthly meeting, and for its February 24 monthly meeting. But sadly, from the beginning, MTRCC’s new chairman Chris Heidorn, his handlers, and his supporters have been extremely critical of the beautiful building and of its huge parking lot — outrageously, they have abandoned it. Sadly, Heidorn, his handlers, and his supporters a) argued that MTRCC should do less rather than more to promote Republican turnout for the February 2, 2010 primary election, b) argue against MTRCC developing, approving, or using a budget, and c) argue that MTRCC should devote less rather than more money and effort for elections headquarters. Sadly, Heidorn has not appointed a chairman for MTRCC’s election headquarters committee, he has canceled MTRCC’s March meeting, and he has scheduled MTRCC April 14 meeting at the Wheaton Bowl Banquet Hall – MTRCC has to pay $150 to use the Wheaton Bowl Banquet Hall for one of its meetings. Sadly, Heidorn has made it clear that his top priority if not only priority is to stop me from sending out GOPUSA ILLINOIS daily emails, to get me to resign as the chairman of TAPROOT, and to get me to resign as precinct committeeman. Sadly, Heidorn has made it clear that he will punish any precinct committeeman, any candidate, any elected official, any party leader, and contributor, any anyone who does help him punish me. Happily, for information on the Webb Dodge property including a map and detailed demographic information on the population, population change, housing, income, and retail sales volume within 1, 3 and 5 miles of the property, visit: http://www.buildingsearch.com/IL/Glen-Ellyn/Retail-Space/285-Roosevelt-Road/568550. Again, GOPUSA ILLINOIS urges the Brady campaign to seek to use the building for its DuPage County headquarters. In the February 2, 2010 primary election, 5,246 in DuPage County voted for Brady — 1,198 (23%) in Milton Township, 817 (16%) in York Township, 811 (15%) in Downers Grove Township, 720 (14%) in Lisle Township, 485 ( 9%) in Naperville Township, 404 ( 8%) in Bloomingdale Township, 310 ( 6%) in Winfield Township, 287 ( 5%) in Wayne Township, and 214 ( 4%) in Addison Township.
GOPUSA ILLINOIS
– NOVEMBER 22, 2009 FLASHBACK: OUTSTANDING: MTRCC to use the showroom area of the $2.9 million 20,278 s.f. Webb Dodge Building on 2.56 acres at 285 Roosevelt Road in Glen Ellyn for its primary election headquarters – Dave Diersen
http://www.miltonrepublicans.org
Starting December 8, 2009, MTRCC will use the showroom area of the highly visible $2.9 million 20,278 s.f. Webb Dodge Building on 2.56 acres at 285 Roosevelt Road in Glen Ellyn for its primary election headquarters. For many months, MTRCC Chairman Mike Formento has asked all Republican candidates, all Republican elected officials, all Republican party leaders, and all Republican precinct committeemen who represent or seek to represent all or part of Milton Township to suggest owners of high visibility properties in Milton Township who might let MTRCC use their property for its primary headquarters at no cost or at a substantially reduced cost. The Webb Dodge Building is very large and it has extremely high visibility. Needless-to-say, MTRCC is extremely thankful that it can use the showroom area of the building for its primary election headquarters. For information on the property including a map and detailed demographic information on the population, population change, housing, income, and retail sales volume within 1, 3 and 5 miles of the property, visit: http://www.buildingsearch.com/IL/Glen-Ellyn/Retail-Space/285-Roosevelt-Road/568550. Lori Carlson serves as the Chairman of MTRCC’s election headquarters committee. I have volunteered to help with the headquarters. If internet access can be set up in the building, I could spend some of the 10 hours a day there that I spend putting GOPUSA ILLINOIS daily emails together each day while at the same time being available to help with voters who come in. Earlier this year, MTRCC was moving toward renting space in the 370 West Front Street building by the Wheaton train station at a rate far below what a commercial tenant would pay. Outstandingly, candidates had pledged $2,400 to help cover the cost of renting that space. Outstandingly, Ann Jorgensen pledged $1,000, J.R. McBride $500, Ron Sutter $300, Dave Diersen $300, Sandra Pihos $200, and Mark Kmiecik $100. However, before a lease could be finalized, the owner of the property accepted an offer from a commercial tenant.
