As per Michelle Malkin, our voices have been heard. She cites this AP news report:
WASHINGTON – The architect of the memorial to a plane downed in western Pennsylvania on Sept. 11, 2001, said Wednesday he would work to satisfy critics who complained that it honors terrorists with its crescent-shaped design.
A poster at Free Republic noted the direction of the crescent, and commented that Murdoch’s denials ran a bit hollow given that the crescent itself faced the Islamic holy city of Mecca.
At the Belmont Club, Wretchard has done the math, and the charts and maps, and documents them all… inviting his readers to follow in his mathematical and geographic footsteps.
I heard that the families of the flight 93 victims–the people who fought back–didn’t object to the design that was chosen, but do you suppose that these details were revealed by the designer who claims the connection between the crescent and the connection with Islam is merely coincidental? These are some pretty ‘coincidental’ equations, wouldn’t you say?
Do you think the families would have objected if they had known THIS?
Waddya know, the “Freeper” knew what he was talking about.
Draw a line between the tips of the crescent, a line perpendicular to it apparently points directly to Mecca.

I wonder if the visitors to the memorial are going to be given a prayer rug and a new qu’ran. Because after all, you can clearly see there’s no connection to Islam.

Of course he did…he is a FReeper!
“Draw a line between the tips of the crescent, a line perpendicular to it apparently points directly to Mecca.”
Huh? the line is nowhere near equidistant from the tips of the crescent.
Blog Power!
Thanks to Michelle Malkin and an army of bloggers we have prevailed in our fight to t have Islamic symbols removed from the Flight 93 Memorial. Paul Murdock the designer of the memorial has said he will rework the plans to remove the crescent.

Congratulations to all those who quickly spoke out, blogged, e-mailed, etc. It feels good see the results. I emailed but hadn’t blogged about it yet. I’m delighted to see the swift results. We didn’t succeed with Michael Graham, have yet to finish the fight with the WTC memorial, but we have this win. Great going everyone!

Today’s dose of NIF – News, Interesting & Funny … It’s Stop the ACLU Thursday
I saw this blog article just as I was getting ready to shut down and leave for work. I delayed my departure just a few minutes to notify my husband and my best friend.
A good way to start the day! I heard that, at certain points, the U.S. Park Service’s web site shut down–so many had been sending in emails to object to the embrace of the [red] crescent.
I’ve been to the site and can testify that other designs will indeed work. We must keep checking on the status of this memorial so as to ensure that no desecration of the site takes place.
