Air Force. 21 years worth. Was in the process of retireing in 2001 (growing a beard & stuff) and was “Stop-Lossed” due to 9-11. Did another year and change before actually retireing. I was Officially a “Cummunications Systems Operator”…a.k.a. Radio Operator…on the E-3 AWACS.

Ok, presumably you flew on one of these modified Boeing 707/320 commercial airframe with a rotating radar dome to provide all-weather surveillance, command control and communications for our US Air Defense forces (as a communications operator). Is this correct? Woah, that’s important work. I’m sure glad to know ya!!! Just out of curiosity, what was your rank when you retired?
