The Progressive Left

From David Horowitz at Frontpage Magazine: Click here for America’s Wars and the Progressive Left

During our lifetimes the so-called “progressive” Left opposed:

1. The War Against Hitler (until June 1941 when the Soviet Union was attacked) (1939)

2. The Cold War to save Turkey and Greece from Communist conquest (1947)

3. The Korean War (to save South Korea from Communist conquest) (1950)

4. The Vietnam War (to save South Vietnam and Cambodia from Communist conquest) (1964)

5. The War in Afghanistan to liberate Afghanistan from a Soviet Invasion (1979)

6. The War in Grenada to liberate the island from a Communist dictatorship (1983)

7. The War to liberate Central America from Communist dictators and guerillas (1983)

7. The War in Panama to liberate Panama from the rule of a narco thug (1989)

8. The Gulf War to liberate Kuwait from Iraqi conquest (1990)

9. The Balkans War to liberate Kosovo from Serbian rule (1999)

10. The War against the Taliban (2001)

11. The Bush Administration’s plan to finish the War to liberate Iraq (2002)

Conclusion: The progressive left has opposed every war that America has fought in living memory, and it has found ways to sympathize or actively support every enemy America has faced. What does this seamless and unbroken record tell you about the progressive left?

Reference these two posts: here and here and now here. In a dicussion forum at that last link, one refers to conservatives as full of “rage and venom”.

And here’s a link to the post that is being circulated like a virus in the leftist underground: Top 10 Leftists Americans

Cao that list pretty much exposes the Left in America for what is ! Cudos !

  2. Cao says:

Thanks, Paul, I think it does, too.

  3. Irate Savant says:

I know that I, for one, hate America. How could I not hate a country that opposes my atheist, communist, Muslim homosexual lifestyle?

  4. Cao says:

Great coherent argument, Idiot Savant. WOW I am impressed by that witty meaningless comeback.

BTW, I’m not a Ku Klux Klan member like Robert Byrd, I didn’t kill a woman like Ted Kennedy, and I was never accused of rape by Juanita Braddrick on NBC News within weeks of being impeached like You-Know-Who. Since my side doesn’t accept Klansmen, murderers or rapists, I don’t have to be on the defensive…but it really cracks me up that THAT is the BEST you’ve got.

  5. Carl says:

    This is a good post.

A mandatory read and a good basis for discussion.

  6. Heather says:

I see you’re already getting flack for that post. Truth hurts some doesn’t it? Great post! I was just reading Sean Hannity’s book, and he was saying the same thing. If the liberals had their way, America wouldn’t be what it is today because we would have been attacked left and right, and they still wouldn’t have gone to war. We’d all be living in concentration camps or something to that extent. They want appease every evil entity out there rather than defend out way of life.

  7. Irate Savant says:

I know that I am constantly on the lookout for an evil entity that I can try to appease. Too bad I didn’t live at the time of the “Greatest Generation” (all Republicans, no?) because I could have had great fun trying to appease Adolf Hitler.

  8. Cao says:

Ah, the greatness to which you aspire, it is daunting.

  9. hooter says:

Why worry about the pacifists when we should be gearing up for the next war!!! Who should it be? Iran? N. Korea? How about Saudi Arabia? Somalia? The problem is, there’s too many choices. Maybe it’s best to leave it up to our president. He sure can pick ‘em!

  10. Cao says:

Heather, I missed your post. Thanks for your comments. Yeah, it really is quite laughable. The Democrats’ concept of a “plan” is like the liberal fantasy that there’s a room somewhere full of unlimited amounts of “free” money that we could just give to teachers and hospitals and poor people and AIDS sufferers and the homeless, and the sufferers of this tsunami-if only those bad greedy Republicans would give us the key to that room! Republicans should claim the “plan” is in that room, in a lockbox.

It’s weird that after we finally got liberals to give up on seven decades of “planning” the economy, now they want to “plan” a war. Needless to say, the Democrats have no plan of their own, unless “surrender” counts as a plan. That’s why John Kerry speaks french.

  11. Cao says:

Wow, hooter, that’s a hoot. The demand for a “plan” tends to suggest there is something called “The Plan”, which would magically prevent bad things from happening–especially something as totally unexpected as this situation in Iraq. Violence in the Middle East constantly comes as a bolt out of the blue to liberals. Hey, news bulletin: we’re at war with Islamic lunatics. They enjoy blowing things up and killing people. What further insight do libs have about this war? Bush said deposing Saddam Hussein and building a democracy in Iraq was an essential part of the war on terrorism. He didn’t say that invading Iraq would instantly end all Muslim violence and rainy days that make all liberals blue.

A war is not as predictable as, say, a George Clooney movie (although it’s generally more entertaining). Historian Stephen Ambrose described General Dwight D. Eisenhower’s genius as a soldier, noting that “he often said that in preparing for battle, plans were essential, but that once the battle was joined, plans were useless.” Transforming a blood-soaked police state dotted with mass graves into a self-governing republic might take slightly longer than this week’s makoever on ***** Eye for the Straight Guy.

Apparently it is urgent that we replace the best fighting force in the world with an “international peacekeeping force”-a task force both feared and respected worldwide for its ability to distribute powdered cheese to poor children. Inconsolable that their pleas to “work through” the UN didn’t stop Bush from invading Iraq and deposing their hero, Saddam Hussein, now the Democrats are eager for the Un to get involved. Since we didn’t let the UN lose the war for us, the least we can do is let them screw up the peace. The idea that we would involve those swine in the postwar occupation of Iraq is so preposterous it’s under serious consideration for Howard Dean’s next campaign slogan.

So naturally the dems are rooting for an “international force” in Iraq. The democratic logic on national defense is: As soon as anyone in the military gets his hair mussed, we must pull out and bring in “international peacekeeping forces”. Our boys are in harm’s way! People are dying! Bush Lied! Let’s run! That’ll show ‘em. It was not lost on Osama bin Laden that it only took eighteen dead in Somalia for the Great Satan to pull out. It should not be lost on Americans that this is what the Democrats are again demanding we do in Iraq.

  12. Raven says:

#7: Did you learn your history well? It doesn’t appear that way. England, France, Poland-ALL played the appeasement game back in the late 1930′s. It was JFK’s father-Joe Kennedy-who wrote the book on appeasement. Look where it got them: France taken over; Poland torn apart; and England left in shreds. England chose to fight for it’s survival and they were looked upon much the same way America is looked upon now.
The winds of war were well known in Europe back in those days-yet the liberal appeasement freaks of that generation almost led themselves down a path that would probably have made us all German colonies under a true facist rule.Go back to school and re-learn what really happened in the not too distant past.

  13. Cao says:

I think idiot savant is just posting to piss people off. I’m just ignoring it. Although, I’m aware there are a lot of holocaust denyers out there like Chomsky, for example-

My dad has a friend who was from Latvia and was one of those unfortunates, caught as a small boy, in a concentration camp. I know the terrible reality of what those animals did, from him and others I’ve met.

When you meet someone face-to-face with one of those tatoos and hear just some of their stories–it’s a life altering experience.

Skokie is a suburb of Chicago where a lot of jewish people live. The nazis marched in Skokie, and I have a real personal knowledge of what those poor people went through when the brownshirts were here. Many were afraid to come out of their homes.

It is either utter stupidity or just plain ignorance for people to deny that it happened.

As a matter of fact, on behalf of Friends of Israel, we will be doing a blogburst acknowledging the liberation of the prisoners left alive in Auschwitz on January 27.

  14. ThaSickness says:

HAHAH! “Auto Pen”.. great work, Cao. And don’t worry about Idiot Savante. Have you seen his blog?? Yeesh!

  15. Raven says:

    Cao what is autopen??:shock::?:

  16. Cao says:

Autopen is what Rumsfeld is using to sign the letters to the families of the fallen in Iraq. The liberals are complaining that Rummy should sign each letter himself. Click here and here. It’s a huge issue for the democrats, who don’t have enough to complain about–EVER. Instead of fighting the war on terrorism, liberals would prefer a Cabinet-level Department of Closure to handle issues like “presidential apologies” and “autopen”, with headquarters in a building shaped like a giant hug and Dr. Phil as the Secretary of Closure.

WOW, can you imagine? A war where the numbers of the men killed in the line of duty are small enough where you could even consider such a thing.

That’s why I’m putting my signature in “autopen” everywhere.

  17. Raven says:

    How do you do it??

  18. Cao says:

Thanks, TS–I know not everybody “gets it” it might take a little while. After a while the joke will get old, and I’ll move onto something else. But for now, I think it’s damned funny. Thanks for appreciating my warped sense of humor

I write it and save it as a jpeg or a bmp, and then upload it as an image. I do it in powerpoint, save it into “paint” and create a bmp that I can upload. I’m sure there’s probably an easier way to do it, but that’s the way I’ve been doing it.

  20. Cao says:

You’re quite welcome! Nice to meet you, Amy, I suppose you could say I’ve been searching for conservative blogs in Illinois to link to and found you–I think it was on Archpundit’s website. Although–I think a lot of the conservative links were not good. I’ve been doing a lot of searches, too.

I’m following your blog and like what I see there! It’s great to have some blogs to follow what’s happening in Illinois. I know bloggers all over the world, but it’s nice to have some blog pals in my own backyard.

  21. Amy Allen says:

Oh, thank you so very, very, much. It is absolutely my honor. You, ma’am, are a truly exemplary blogger. It is my honor and thank you very much. Your blog is always a very elucidating and enlightening read. Thank you very, very, much.

  22. Cao says:

Thank you, Amy! Do I detect you might have a military background? Honestly, there is no need to brace for me. The only guys who brace for me are my sons.

  23. Cao says:

Hey TS, I just about died laughing-I went over to Idiot Savant’s website and found an apology for a post it/she/he pulled that was written while drunk.

I have no idea why, idiotic-even criminal behavior never bothered Ted Kennedy, why start now?

  24. Amy Allen says:

Well, thank you very much, ma’am, but no, I have not served in the military. Those who so do are certainly deserving of highest commendation. Thank you very much. Its my honor that you linked to me.

  25. Cao says:

So tell me where you get this “ma’am” stuff because it’s exactly the kind of thing my one son learned in the Marine Corps and my other in the Army. I thought I taught them well, but the Service taught them better.

  26. RightToCarry says:

Idiot Savant – Move to Russia, see what they think of your lifestyle. You would enjoy the beatings. So would the Russians.

  27. Cao says:

RTC, I suppose there’s enough there for the FSB to have a little fun with

  28. Amy Allen says:

Thank you very much! Its my honor!
