A call to arms

For you folks who don’t recognize this banner, it’s the banner that was used in 1860, for Abraham Lincoln during the Civil War days. “Union” does not represent trade unions.

We’re inviting you to join a coalition of conservative blogs that is dedicated to spreading conservative ideas and ideals on the net.

First, it has come to our attention, and I’m sure yours, that we’re getting attacked by libs across the blogosphere. In order to better defend ourselves, we’re proposing organizing and developing an email list for our members to use to ask for help from the team. It is tiring to be in the position to have to defend yourself against armies of libs harangueing you and you’re all alone. We will have a page on our new site devoted to developing that list of defenders. This will be a private email list for you to use to ask for help from your fellow conservative bloggers when the times should arise. Only members will be privy to this list.

The name of our blog is “The Wide Awakes” named after supporters of Abe Lincoln in 1860 who marched through the streets in torchlight parades and spread the word of Lincoln’s candidacy.

You can choose to join this team blog, giving you the ability to post articles-both serious and funny-that comment on news, religion, culture, as well as politics. You can write something original or you can cross-post something from your blog. And if you don’t have a blog at all, this will give you an opportunity to be a blogger and voice your opinions.
The purpose is two-fold: To proselytize conservative ideas and values and give YOU more chance at exposing your talent.

Due to the avalanche of responses, we now have 16 17 contributing writers.. We are no longer looking for writers, we are looking for defenders only.

If you want to join, send an email to caoilfhionn1@gmail.com with your URL and email address. If you don’t want to join the email list, simply do not include your email address in your response. If you don’t want to blog but want to join the team of defenders, don’t include a URL. But a note of caution: If we don’t know you, you don’t have a blog and you want to join the defenders, we’ll need some evidence of your political leanings before you can join the defender team without a blog. When we get things organized, there will be code available for our blogroll listing to all of the sites in our alliance.

Hope to hear from you soon.

Superhawk and Cao

Great idea, Cao. I’m not much on labels, so I would not self-describe as “conservative”. Of course, in the sense that anyone who supports our mission to bring democracy to Iraq has been assigned the conservative moniker by so-called liberals (which is probably the nicest word they use), I would not be ashamed if that is how I am perceived.

    Email to follow.

 Love the idea, maybe we can have our own blog rating system, based on design, content and entertainment. At least they would be honest….

Great site as always CAO….I rate you an 11 out of 10 if that’s possible.

Go to the Weekly Word section of my site and read about my prediction on the ACLU’s next attack, maybe. It is down toward the bottom of the page, I think.

Can’t seem to figure out who the artist was on the banner. It was done in 1860.

Since this is the place where conservatives are uniting I figured that I should post this here. Some liberal knucklehead listed my blog at the top of his blog as his “bad blog of the day”. His URL is http://raulgroom.blogspot.com/ maybe some friendly people here could pay him a visit and set him straight. I would appreciate it.

    Thanks,

If we’re going to be 1860’s organizations, I’d rather be The Irish Brigade, but oh well. Email send. And Dan, that just means you get more traffic!

I am impressed with your level of organization Cao. Things seem to be moving along nicely. At what point will we have all the writers identified so I can a)add their sites as links on my own blog b) get a chance to e-mail an intro, like I did for some already, and c) out of pure curiousity?

****, I’m waiting for them all to register on the Wide Awakes site. Once I know they’re all in, I’ll publish that list. Lisa’s working on the design and we’re going to have a code for the blogroll…so it’ll be easy to put that up on your site. She’s just bogged down with work and it looks as though it’s going to take longer than I anticipated. But knowing her level of expertise, it will be well-worth the wait.

I am for freedom and individual liberty. If “conservatives” are of a like mind count me in, but I am not by temperament a joiner.

Freedom and liberty are my credo!!!

Thanks, Paul, I’ll add you to the list.
