CHICAGO - Moveon.org and Swift Boat Veterans for Truth have made the term “527″ well-known in the political lexicon of the 2004 election season.

Now, one 527, or independent expenditure organization, in Illinois is seeking to make waves in the Senate race in the same fashion that other such groups have impacted the Presidential contest.

The group, Empower Illinois, has launched a new website, http://www.truthaboutobama.org/.

Beginning Tuesday, Empower Illinois is also a running a series of television and radio ads in downstate media markets that aim to highlight what they see as an underreported issue in the race to replace retiring U.S. Senator Peter Fitzgerald–namely, Democratic Senate nominee Barack Obama’s record as a State Senator.

The group’s director, Jeff Davis, said the ads, which can be viewed on the group’s website, are aimed to educate voters about Sen. Obama’s voting record so they may compare that to his rhetoric on the campaign trail. “There is a disconnect between the positions Barack Obama has taken as a State Senator and his moderate-sounding rhetoric during this Senate campaign,” said Davis. “As people listen to the debates and begin to make their decisions in this important race, we want to make sure they have all the facts.”

According to their website, Empower Illinois is “a diverse coalition of concerned citizens in the political process…dedicated to educating Illinoisan’s regarding public policy positions of candidates for federal, state and local office and mobilizing conservative voters. These activities will help provide the information that Illinoisan’s need to see through the misleading public policies and campaign themes of politicians.”

527s are tax-exempt organizations provided for in the IRS code. They are allowed to engage in uncoordinated, non-partisan political activities aimed at educating voters about a particular issue or candidate for office.

Libs Say Reeves Is Dead Because of Bush

Yeah right. He died from complications from a bedsore, you idiots.

They are, of course, referring to stem cell research…the Frankestein-type where they get the cells from embryos…they’re saying that Bush’s stand against using the tissue from embryos stood in the way of a ‘cure’. and that’s why Reeves is dead.

Do you remember the day when people were wondering about the possible ramifications of playing ‘God’ and the issue of test tube babies?

It isn’t Bush that’s standing in the way of using embryonic cells for research…it’s the Moral Majority. Kerry tried to make it sound reasonable, saying that there are thousands of embryos that are frozen, in limbo, that will eventually be destroyed. But there is a darker side to this issue that he’s not referencing…and who are we to be playing with life like this? God’s creation?

A Garrison State

Filed under: General , NWO @ 9:51 am

“Homeland Security will be the biggest government employer in the next decade or so,” predicts Steven David, chair of a graduate certificate program in homeland security at Johns Hopkins University. Noted the August 25 of USA Today: “Hundreds of community colleges, four-year universities and postgraduate programs have begun offering degrees and certificates in emergency preparedness, counterterrorism and security.”

To some extent, this proliferation in security-related courses reflects the fact that “many companies have added homeland security sectors, and those educated in the field are in demand,” continues the paper. But the most improtant factor, of course, if creation of a centralized “homeland security” monolith.

The Department of Homeland Security (not be confused with the Department of Defense, which supposedly had something to do with securing our homeland) directly sponsors numerous programs at elite schools nationwide. Among them is an 18-month highly selective program at the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, California. “We’re taking the best and the brightest and giving them additional education so they can go back to their cities and assume the highest positions, “ comments associated provost Paul Stockton.

Rather than studying computer technology, applied sciences and engineering, the “best and brightest” our nation produces, will be learning how to build and administer a garrison state.
