Mr. President - What in the hell are you thinking???

[ Commentary ] — I realize the Bureaucrats don’t come in contact with Illegals; so why would you do something like this which, IMO is just downright blatantly ignorant and stupid?

What you over-paid fat a$$es in Congress don’t realize is — this will cause major traffic bottlenecks at the border; Border Patrol Agents will be more stressed at the amount of traffic and end up rushing thru their vehicle checks.

This will eventually lead to more Illegals, Drugs and TERRORISTS coming into America!

What part of that SIMPLE EQUATION don’t you Morons understand???

Mexico trucks

Five groups sued today in federal court to block a Bush Administration plan to allow Mexico-domiciled trucks to roam the country’s highways as soon as Saturday.

The suit, filed in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit in San Francisco, maintains that the Bush administration’s pilot program, which authorizes up to 100 carriers based in Mexico to perform long-haul operations within the U.S., violates several key congressional requirements.

The groups filing suit include Public Citizen; the International Brotherhood of Teamsters; Sierra Club; Environmental Law Foundation; and the Brotherhood of Teamsters, Auto and Truck Drivers, Local 70. They filed an emergency motion asking the court to delay the pilot program before it goes into effect in a matter of days.

Mexico-domiciled motor carriers currently are permitted to operate in the U.S. only in specified commercial zones along the southern borders of California, Arizona, New Mexico and Texas.

The Bush administration has for years been pushing to give Mexico-domiciled carriers access to all U.S. highways despite safety and environmental concerns expressed by public interest groups, unions representing truck drivers and lawmakers.

“The administration has thumbed its nose at Congress by its clear failure to comply with lawmakers’ requirements,” said Public Citizen attorney Bonnie Robin-Vergeer. “There is no harm in delaying the program for a short time to make sure it is done right.”

Random throat slashing at the University of Colorado

Injured student

BOULDER, Colo. — A Boulder policeman who arrived a few seconds after a freshman’s throat was slashed is relieved the stabbing at the University of Colorado didn’t turn out worse.

Master Officer John Smith said he heard screaming and saw students running away. He ran to help and faced what would be one of the more stressful situations of his three-decade career.

“It evolved very rapidly and I thought it worked out real well,” said Smith.

A Boulder County sheriff’s deputy, Stuart Holt, already had a gun pointed at the suspected attacker, Kenton Astin.

Smith told Holt he was next to him and started to prepare to use his Taser gun.

By his count, it’s been eight or nine years since he was issued the less-lethal weapon and he was about to use it for the first time.

He said the suspect dropped the knife, but kept moving toward him, punching numbers into a cell phone, threatening to detonate something, counting down toward one.

And, he was rambling.

“‘I’m the creator. I’m … something along those lines. It’s the end of the world. Columbine,’” Smith said, describing what Astin was saying.

Smith deployed the Taser but it didn’t stop the suspect in his tracks.

“It distracted him enough that we were able to then close on him and take him to the ground. So it was effective,” said Smith.

Several others helped the two officers get control and handcuff Astin.

Conservatives and the GOP

Filed under: GOP And RINOs , General @ 5:25 am

I’ve been receiving a lot of phone calls fundraising for different organizations either directly related to the GOP, like the College Republicans, Freshman PAC, Citizens United, etc. And I just have to say I’m getting sick of it, for the primary reason that the Republicans that are in office are just as bad as the Democrats; only worse. We have a Republican platform which states the Republican position on issues, yet most of them have abandoned the platform in favor of liberal positions.

Take Rudy Giuliani, for example. There isn’t a single candidate that I can endorse without some type of reservation; and why is it that most of the time our choices in candidates are limited to the lesser of two evils? Why can’t we have a single representative with personal life that is a clean slate (no scandals in the closet), a clean voting record, a solid marriage, and who takes a position on issues that is more representative of the way the majority of people feel about things?

I’ve seen people say that the GOP is losing because they’ve forgotten their constituents, and as long as they’re going to shift with the political wind, they’re going to continue to lose. In the meantime, the Democrats are manipulating their way to find votes–just like the democratic machine does in Chicago–by lobbying for convicts in prison to vote, and other underhanded methods.

I’m afraid, but also incredibly disappointed in the political process right now…

Bill-ary Kluck Gives Felony Money To Charity

BY MARTIN C. EVANS - August 30, 2007

Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton, stung by criticism for accepting campaign contributions from a convicted felon with questionable fundraising practices, will donate the $23,000 he gave her to charity.

“In light of the new information regarding Mr. Hsu’s outstanding warrant in California, we will be giving his contributions to charity,” said Clinton spokesman Phil Singer. “We regularly review contributions as we receive them,” he said, adding that “we will continue our practice of scrutinizing contributions and, should we have a basis to return a contribution, we will do so.”

Clinton’s sudden decision came as other Democrats began distancing themselves from Norman Hsu, a California businessman who has raised tens of thousands of dollars for Democratic causes.

Al Franken, a Senate candidate in Minnesota, and Reps. Joe Sestak, of Pennsylvania and Michael Honda, of California, said recently they would divest their campaign of Hsu’s donations.

Hsu pleaded guilty to a 1991 grand theft charge after bilking investors in a latex glove sales scheme. He never appeared for sentencing, and authorities apparently lost track of him.

But, years later, Hsu emerged as a huge political fundraiser, according to Federal Election Commission records, which show that the Hong Kong native has donated $264,000 to Democratic party entities since 2004.

[ COMMENTARY ] - Let’s see if we understand this correctly —

1. We have a slopehead who conned 1000’s of Americans out of their money for rubber gloves.
2. The Feds LOST TRACK OF HIM FOR YEARS.
3. Now, he appears with Bill-ary Kluck at a fundraiser and hasn’t been arrested on his current warrant???

Wal-Mart Threatens American Citizens With Extortion

Wednesday August 29 - By Eric Tucker, Associated Press Writer

Bomb Threat to RI Wal-Mart Leads to Evacuation, Money Transfer; FBI Says May Be Broader Scam

NEWPORT, R.I. (AP) — A bomb threat that caused the evacuation of a Wal-Mart and led employees to wire $10,000 to the caller appears to be part of a broader scam targeting other businesses around the country, authorities said.

An unidentified man called the Newport store Tuesday morning, saying he had a bomb and would harm employees. He also demanded that workers transfer $10,000 to an account, said Newport Police Sgt. James Quinn. The store wired the money, Quinn said.

FBI spokesman Rich Kolko said the threat appears related to a plot in recent days targeting banks and stores near Phoenix, Detroit, Salt Lake City and Philadelphia.

An anonymous caller made a bomb threat Tuesday against a Dillons grocery in Hutchinson, Kan., demanding that the store wire money to his bank account and ordering everyone in the store to disrobe. No one was injured and no money was paid, police said. On Wednesday, two other stores in Hutchinson also received bomb threats, said police Lt. Steven Nelson.

Authorities said the caller Tuesday appeared to have visual access to the grocery, although officials were investigating whether the caller was out of state and may have hacked into the store’s security system.

“If they can access the Internet, they can get to anything,” Hutchinson Police Chief Dick Heitschmidt said. “Anyone in the whole world could have access, if that’s what really happened.”

The FBI was looking into whether the calls to the banks and stores were being placed from overseas and was compiling reports from local police departments to probe for similarities between the cases, Kolko said Wednesday.

“At this point, there’s enough similarities that we think it’s potentially one person or one group,” Kolko said from Washington.

Police in Virginia said a similar threat was made at a store there on Tuesday. In that case, no money was sent and no bomb was found.

In Newport, the caller placed three separate calls to the store, Quinn said. An employee reported the bomb threat to police at 6:52 a.m., minutes before the store’s scheduled opening.

Roughly 25 employees who were inside at the time were evacuated as a police SWAT team spent hours sweeping the building and bomb-sniffing dogs searched around cars in the parking lot. Neither the suspect nor any explosive device was found in the store, and no one was injured.

Quinn said police have identified the account where the money was wired, but he would not say where it was held. He said the caller used a land line from out of state, but would not say from where. No arrests have been made.

Bad news for Florida Homeowner’s during 2008 Hurricane season

Another big Florida property insurer is dropping customers to reduce its storm risk statewide — Nationwide Insurance said Tuesday it plans to dump 39,000 homeowner insurance policies, including 6,200 in Palm Beach County and 2,000 in Broward County.

Two years ago, Nationwide began jettisoning 35,000 homeowner policies statewide and stopped taking on new property insurance customers. The company will finish the earlier round of policy cuts by mid-2008.

Earlier this year, State Farm Florida Insurance Co. and Allstate Floridian Insurance Co. said they were shedding 156,000 policies following busy hurricane seasons in 2004 and 2005.

The Nationwide policy cuts will be made on customer renewal dates and start early next year, so affected homeowners can continue their coverage through the Nov. 30 end of hurricane season. The first notices alerting policy holders will go out in September.

The Columbus, Ohio-based insurer, the fifth-largest in Florida, also is dropping 1,600 commercial policies statewide but did not have a breakdown Tuesday of the cuts by county.

“It goes without saying that this is a difficult business decision, but one we need to make to continue to be there for our remaining customers,” spokesman Eric Hardgrove said.

The announcement is yet another blow to Florida’s reeling property insurance market.

160 Illegal Immigrants Captured In Cincinnati

ICE executes federal criminal search warrants at Koch Foods and arrests more than 160 on immigration charges — simultaneous criminal search warrant executed at Koch corporate office in Chicago, IL

CINCINNATI - Special agents from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) today executed criminal search warrants at Koch Foods in Fairfield, Ohio. ICE identified more than 180 Koch employees working at the Fairfield plant requiring further questioning and administratively arrested more than 160 as of 4PM for immigration violations. ICE agents simultaneously executed criminal search warrants at Koch’s corporate office in Chicago.

The enforcement actions are part of a two-year, ongoing ICE investigation based on evidence that Koch Foods may have been knowingly hired illegal aliens at its poultry processing and packaging facility.

“Unlawful employment is one of the key magnets drawing illegal aliens across our borders,” said Julie L. Myers, Assistant Secretary of Homeland Security for ICE. “When illegal aliens use fraudulent documents or engage in identity theft, they not only exploit a vulnerability, they also cause real harm to U.S. citizens. We will pursue egregious violators by seeking criminal charges and continue to deploy tools such as the new social security no match guidelines to help businesses comply with the law.”

Today’s enforcement action was coordinated with ICE’s federal, state and local counterparts including, the Southern District of Ohio’s U.S. Attorney’s Office; the USDA Office of the Inspector General; Health and Human Service’s Department of Immigration Health Services; the Ohio Department of Public Safety; the Butler County Sheriff’s Office; the Butler County District Attorney’s Office; and Butler County Children’s Services.

At the Fairfield plant, illegal aliens have been interviewed by ICE and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ Division of Immigration Health Services (HHS/DIHS) to record any medical concerns, sole-caregiver issues or other humanitarian concerns. Based on this information, ICE makes decisions regarding whether or not an illegal alien should be released for humanitarian reasons. If released, the illegal alien is issued a notice to appear in front of an immigration judge at a later date.

Aliens who are being detained will be transported to an ICE processing facility located in the Cincinnati area and placed in removal proceedings. Aliens will be detained while awaiting removal proceedings.

A 24-hour toll-free detainee locator hotline is available exclusively for family members of those arrested in today’s operation to field questions about detention status and the removal process. The hotline operates in English and Spanish; the phone number is 866-341-3858.

The latest modern convenience to be shunned by moonbats: diapers.

Moonbat mommies have convinced themselves that they can train babies from birth to signal when they need the bathroom, so that diapers are never required.

Once the signal is received, mothers need to act:

Isis Arnesen, 33, of Boston, has a 14-week-old daughter, Lucia, who is diaper-free. She said it can be awkward to explain the process to people, such as when she helped Lucia relieve herself in a sink at a public restroom.

All of you Demoshitter Numbnuts - Listen up and shut the hell up!

Double-Tap, and Move On — By Thomas Anderson

Marine Corps GySgt R. Lee Ermey

A Marine response to a simple question. Regarding the news blurb about the Marine who put two rounds (”double tap”) in a wounded insurgent’s head in Fallujah, here’s a response from a Marine:

“It’s a safety issue, pure and simple. After assaulting through a target, we put a security round in everybody’s head. Sorry al-Reuters, there’s no paddy wagon rolling around Fallujah picking up “prisoners” and offering them a hot cup o’ Joe, falafel, and a blanket. There’s no time to dick around on the target. You clear the space, dump the chumps, and move on.

Are Corpsman expected to treat wounded terrorists? Negative. Hey Libs, worried about the defense budget? Well, it would be a waste, fraud, and abuse for a Corpsman to expend one man-minute or a battle dressing on a terrorist. It’s much cheaper to just spend the $.02 on a 5.56mm FMJ — ( that’s a “Full Metal Jacket” for you less educated non-military jacka$$es! )

By the way, in our view, terrorists who chop off civilian’s heads are not prisoners, they are carcasses. Chopping off a civilian’s head is another reason why these idiots are known as “unlawful combatants.” It seems that most of the world’s journalists have forgotten that fact. Let me be very clear about this issue. I have looked around the web, and many people get this concept, but there are some stragglers. Here is your typical Marine sitrep (situation report): You just took fire from unlawful combatants (no uniform - breaking every Geneva Convention rule there is) shooting from a religious building attempting to use the sanctuary status of their position as protection. But you’re in Fallujah now, and the Marine Corps has decided that they’re not playing that game this time. That was Najaf.

So you set the mosque on fire and you hose down the terrorists with small arms, launch some AT-4s (Rockets), some 40MM grenades into the building and things quiet down. So you run over there, and find some tangos (bad guys) wounded and pretending to be dead. You are aware that suicide martyrdom is like really popular with these idiots, and they think taking some Marines with them would be really cool. So you can either risk your life and your fire team’s lives by having them cover you while you bend down and search a guy that you think is pretending to be dead for some reason.

Most of the time these are the guys with the grenade or a vest made of explosives. Also, you don’t know who or what is in the next room. You’re already speaking English to the rest of your fire team or squad which lets the terrorist know you are there and you are his enemy. You are speaking loud because your hea ring is poor from shooting people for several days. So you know that there are many other rooms to enter, and that if anyone is still alive in those rooms, they know that Americans are in the mosque.

Meanwhile (3 seconds later), you still have this terrorist (that was just shooting at you from a mosque) playing possum. What do you do? You double tap his head, and you go to the next room, that’s what! What about the Geneva Convention and all that ‘Law of Land Warfare’ stuff? What about it? Without even addressing the issues at hand, your first thought should be, “I’d rather be judged by 12 than carried by 6.” Bear in mind that this tactic of double tapping a fallen terrorist is a perpetual mindset that is reinforced by experience on a minute by minute basis.

Secondly, you are fighting an unlawful combatant in a Sanctuary, which is a double No-No on his part. Third, tactically you are in no position to take “prisoners” because there are more rooms to search and clear, and the behavior of said terrorist indicates that he is up to no good. No good in Fallujah is a very large place and the low end of no good and the high end of no good are fundamentally the same, Marines end up getting hurt or die.

So there is no compelling reason for you to do anything but double tap this idiot and get on with the mission. If you are a veteran, then everything I have just written is self evident. If you are not a veteran, at least try to put yourself in the situation. Remember, in Fallujah there is no yesterday, there is no tomorrow, there is only now, Right NOW.

Have you ever lived in NOW for a week? It is really, really not easy.

If you have never lived in NOW for longer than it takes to finish the big roller coaster at Six Flags, then shut that Twinkle-toed Communist $hit-hole you call a Demo$hitter mouth, about putting Marines in jail for “War Crimes”!!!

Kentucky’s #1 Bachelor Pad Revealed

12,000-square-foot house

Check out UK basketball coach Billy Clyde Gillispie’s new house in Nicholasville. The Lexington Herald Leader reports Gillispie paid more than $1.4 million for 12,000 square feet. Six bedrooms. Eight bathrooms. Clearly, the landscaping budget was under 50 bucks and the window treatment budget was non-existent.

[ SSgt Yatahey commentary ] — Typical over-paid Coach and Bachelor — what’s the matter, ya tight-a$$ — landscaping and curtains didn’t fit your “budget”?

Women don’t like a rich, tight-a$$ Bachelor who won’t spend money!

Billy G’s bought himself a TEXAS-SIZE HOUSE in Jessamine County.

The University of Kentucky men’s basketball coach purchased the house for $1.45 million on Aug. 2.

Billy Gillispie will go home at night to 12,000 square feet, six bedrooms, eight bathrooms and three half-baths, said Connie Cobane, a real estate agent who represents the builder, Jonathan Isaac of Isaac Construction.

“It’s a showplace,” said Cobane. “It has a masculine flair. It has stone archways, a lot of wood and iron, stone pillars in the formal dining room. It’s unique.”

The European-style structure features a circular staircase wrapped in stone. It has a full theater, a library, a cabana room and maple hardwood floors.

The three-story house was marketed under the name “The Stonebriar.”

Its lowest level has 10-foot ceilings, an exercise room, a master suite, a wine cellar and a wet bar. The home has two garages that face a courtyard, Cobane says.

It is located 4 miles south of Man o’ War Boulevard off Harrodsburg Road in Forest Hills Estates.

Isaac lived in the house briefly before the coach bought it, said Cobane, an agent for Keller Williams Bluegrass Realty.

Gillispie could not be reached for comment yesterday.

Cobane and Whitney Pannell of Prudential A.S. deMovellan Real Estate, who represented Gillispie in the transaction, were hesitant to say what the coach was looking for in a home or why he chose that particular house.

The real estate agents say they respect the new coach’s privacy.

“He’s very happy with the house, Cobane said. “And he’s a real pleasure to work with.”

Maria Rivera, a hotel maid from Woodbridge, drove her two daughters to Lorton last weekend to buy school supplies. Juan Padilla, who owns a tropical-themed restaurant in Manassas, purchased all his cooking ingredients yesterday in Fairfax County.

On the first day of a one-week boycott called by immigrant groups in Prince William County, both of these county residents said they were shopping elsewhere to send a message that Latino immigrants are an important, unified economic force and can’t be intimidated.

“They used us Hispanics to build this county, and now they are trying to kick us out. It’s not fair,” fumed Padilla, 28, a legal immigrant from El Salvador. On the window of his restaurant, La Laguna, was a large green poster that read, “We Are A Pro-Immigrant Business. Rescind the Prince William County Anti-Immigrant Resolution.”

The boycott is a protest against a resolution, passed unanimously by the Board of County Supervisors in July, to deny many public services to illegal immigrants and empower police and other officials to question immigrants about their legal status and in some cases turn them over to federal immigration authorities.

County officials are studying how to implement the resolution, the result of widespread concern among longtime residents who think that the rapid influx of Latino immigrants, including many who are illegal, has increased crime and blight in the area and created a heavy burden on public services.

Several activists who support the resolution said that the boycott is bound to fail and that its only effect would be to pressure Latino business owners into conformity with a radical agenda by some groups to push the rights of illegal immigrants.

The dangers of escorting the President

By Jeremy Pelofsky

ALBUQUERQUE (Reuters) - A New Mexico motorcycle police officer crashed and died on Monday while escorting U.S. President George W. Bush and his motorcade from a political fund-raiser back to the airport, the White House said.

The officer, Germain Casey, crashed as the president’s motorcade was arriving at the airport and his limousine passed by the scene where two other officers were performing CPR on the fatally injured man.

An ambulance in the president’s motorcade stopped to provide assistance, as did a member of the White House medical staff. A local television station reported the officer had collided with another motorcycle.

Bush said he was deeply saddened by the officer’s death and grateful for his protection. He later called the officer’s wife to express his condolences.

“It is a high calling to choose to serve and protect your fellow citizens, and I will always be indebted to Officer Casey’s service,” Bush said in a statement.

Casey leaves behind a wife and two teenage children, said White House spokesman Scott Stanzel.

Motorcycle police officers often escort the president’s motorcade, blocking off intersections as it proceeds. A motorcycle officer in Hawaii died last year after sustaining injuries in a crash while escorting Bush.

Bush was in New Mexico on Monday to help Republican Sen. Pete Domenici raise about $400,000 for his reelection bid.

Bush later flew to Bellevue, Washington, where he attended a fund-raiser for Republican Rep. Dave Reichert. who is facing a tough re-election bid next year. The event was expected to raise more than $500,000, most of which is going to Reichert.

Counting blessings instead of lottery cash

There is no reason for us to hate every person from Arizona who wins the lottery, but each time a big cash prize is announced, we learn again that there are more than a few jackpot winners in our state who are … how shall we put this? … losers.

I was reminded of this on Sunday night while reading an article on Arizona Central about the big Powerball winner.

A single ticket in Indiana matched all five numbers and the Powerball in the multistate lottery that includes Arizona. The winning ticket is worth $314.3 million.

The folks at azcentral.com allowed readers to add their own comments to the article. One of the first reactions printed was, “I hate lottery winners.”

Me, too, I thought. At least some of them.

A number of people forlornly noted that they never win lottery prizes, a few adding that they don’t find the people who do win to be particularly worthy. One a reader sneered that the big lottery winner probably was “some 85-year-old.”

I couldn’t agree more. Although perhaps for a somewhat different reason.

I have a lot in common with the people who were reading the Powerball article on the Internet on Sunday night. For example, I was sitting comfortably in front of my home computer, as were they.

We all were at home on a Sunday night, meaning that we didn’t have to work on the weekend. Or in the evening.

And we had leisure time, otherwise we’d be busy with other tasks and not reading articles online. This would indicate that our homes are in relatively good shape.

Most of us were not alone, either. There might be a spouse in another room. And a youngster or two. Maybe even a dog and cat lounging on a nearby couch or chair.

And if we’re reading news articles about the Powerball on a Sunday night, that means we’re not preoccupied with chat rooms or special-interest Web sites.

I’m acquainted with a man who until recently spent quite a few hours on the Internet researching a particular illness and chatting with those who were afflicted with it, like him.

He doesn’t do much of that these days, since the simple act of sitting at a desk takes a lot out of him, and concentration is difficult to maintain when one needs a lot of pain medication.

So, yes, there are a few local winners of the lottery that I hate.

Like, for instance, people who have nice houses and nice families and plenty of high-tech gadgets and still somehow don’t recognize that they HAVE won the lottery.

People who somehow fail to acknowledge that they have all their fingers and toes, and aren’t suffering from a debilitating illness, and haven’t lost a loved one to the war, or lost their home to a questionable mortgage, or lost their job to outsourcing.

People who don’t stop to consider the many things in their lives - like their kids and their good health - that they wouldn’t trade for anything, even $314.3 million.

Have you won the Big Lottery yet ?

Iraq orders 1 million Pilgrims to leave

By STEVEN R. HURST Associated Press Writer - Aug 28, 2007

BAGHDAD - Police ordered a curfew Tuesday in Shiite holy city of Karbala and told more than 1 million pilgrims to leave after two days of violence claimed at least 27 lives during a religious festival. More than 100 people were wounded.

Maj. Gen. Abdul-Karim Khalaf, an Interior Ministry spokesman, gave the toll of dead and wounded, and said the “entrances and exits to Karbala have been secured and more forces are on the way from other provinces.”

Another official in the ministry accused the Mahdi Army militia of radical Shiite cleric Muqtada al-Sadr of attacking government security forces in the center of Karbala, site of two Shiite shrines under the control of the Supreme Iraqi Islamic Council. Al-Sadr’s forces are battling SIIC for power in regions south of Baghdad.

The official, who would not allow his name to be used for security reasons, said the government in Baghdad was sending buses to Karbala to take some of the pilgrims out of the city.

Gunshots rang out in the area near the Shiite shrines, which are the focal point of celebrations marking the birthday of the 12th and last Shiite imam, who disappeared in the 9th century. The festival was to have reached its high point Tuesday night and Wednesday morning.

The 27 dead were killed in two outbursts of gunfire one Monday night and a second about midday Tuesday. Police initially blamed Shiite pilgrims trying to push past frustratingly slow security checkpoints near the Imam al-Hussein mosque.

Dick Morris’ comments regarding Bill-ary Kluck

Just in case you might have missed Dick Morris’ comments regarding Hillary’s biography — remember that this man was Bill Clinton’s primary and closest adviser for years and was felt to be the primary reason for Clinton’s political success.

DICK MORRIS’ 2008 PLAY-BY-PLAY ANALYSIS

Check out Bill Clinton’s syrupy five minute ad for Hillary — Billy-Bob introduces the commercial by saying that he wants to share some things we may not know about Hillary’s background. His version of her biography is about as reliable as if it appeared in Pravda!

So, I wanted to make a few corrections —–

Bill says — “Hillary never wanted to run for public office, but she did want to work at public service.”

The facts are – When Clinton was considering not running for another term as Governor of Arkansas in 1990, Hillary said she would run if he didn’t. She and Bill even had me take two surveys to assess her chances of winning. The conclusion was that she couldn’t win because people would just see her as a seat warmer for when Bill came back licking his wounds after losing for president — so she didn’t run — Bill did and won. But there is no question she had her eye on public office, as opposed to service, long ago.

Bill says — “In law school Hillary worked on legal services for the poor.”

The facts are – Hillary’s main extra-curricular activity in law school was helping the Black Panthers, on trial in Connecticut for torturing and killing a federal agent. She went to court every day as part of a law student monitoring committee trying to spot civil rights violations and develop grounds for appeal.

Bill says — “Hillary spent a year after graduation working on a children’s rights project for poor kids.”

The facts are – Hillary interned with Bob Truehaft, the head of the California Communist Party. She met Bob when he represented the Panthers and traveled all the way to San Francisco to take an internship with him.

Bill says — “Hillary could have written her own job ticket, but she turned down all the lucrative job offers.”

The facts are – She flunked the D.C. bar exam and only passed the Arkansas bar. She had no job offers in Arkansas and only got hired by the University of Arkansas Law School at Fayetteville because Bill was already teaching there. She only joined the prestigious Rose Law Firm after Bill became Attorney General and made partner only after he was elected governor.

Bill says — “President Carter appointed Hillary to the Legal Services Board of Directors and she became its chairman.”

The facts are – The appointment was in exchange for Bill’s support for Carter in his 1980 primary against Ted Kennedy. Hillary became chairman in a coup in which she won a majority away from Carter’s choice to be chairman.

Bill says — “She served on the board of the Arkansas Children’s Hospital.”

The facts are – Yes she did. But her main board activity, not mentioned by Bill, was to sit on the Walmart board of directors, for a substantial fee. She was silent about their labor and health care practices.

Bill says — “Hillary didn’t succeed at getting health care for all Americans in 1994 but she kept working at it and helped to create the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) that provides five million children with health insurance.”

The facts are – Hillary had nothing to do with creating CHIP. It was included in the budget deal between Clinton and Republican Majority Leader Senator Trent Lott. I helped to negotiate the deal. The money came half from the budget deal and half from the Attorney Generals’ tobacco settlement. Hillary had nothing to do with either source of funds.

Bill says –“Hillary was the face of America all over the world.”

The facts are – Her visits were part of a program to get her out of town so that Bill would not appear weak by feeding stories that Hillary was running the White House. Her visits abroad were entirely touristic and symbolic and there was no substantive diplomacy on any of them.

Bill says –“Hillary was an excellent Senator who kept fighting for children’s and women’s issues.”

The facts are – Other than totally meaningless legislation like changing the names on courthouses and post offices, she has passed only four substantive pieces of legislation — one set up a national park in Puerto Rico — a second provided respite care for family members helping their relatives through Alzheimer’s or other conditions — and two were routine bills to aid 9-11 victims and responders which were sponsored by the entire NY delegation.

Here is what bothers me more than anything else about Hillary Clinton. She has done everything possible to weaken the President and our country when it comes to the war on terror –

1. She wants to close GITMO and move the combatants to the USA where they would have access to our legal system.

2. She wants to eliminate the monitoring of suspected Al-Qeada phone calls to/from the USA.

3. She wants to grant constitutional rights to enemy combatants captured on the battlefield.

4. She wants to eliminate the monitoring of money transfers between suspected Al Qeada cells & supporters In the USA.

5. She wants to eliminate the type of interrogation tactics used by the military and CIA where coercion might be used when questioning known terrorists even though such tactics might save American lives.

I can’t think of a single bill Hillary has introduced or a single comment she has made that would tend to strengthen our country in the War on Terror.

But, I can think of a lot of comments she has made that weakens our country & makes it a more dangerous situation for all of us!!!

Bill-ary Kluck goes hand in hand with the ACLU on far too many issues where common sense is abandoned — she is a disaster for all Natural-Born Americans!!!

perspective

Filed under: General @ 6:22 pm

I was off-taking a break from everything- and was out of pocket for 11 days, returning on Sunday morning. I’ve had some time to reflect, some time to read a book, and some time off by myself and have realized that my priorities are a little bit screwed up. I almost completely finished Buzz Patterson’s WAR CRIMES! It isn’t often when I can curl up enough with a book long enough to make that kind of progress. It was a time to ‘learn to be still’.

I won’t be staying the entire time I’d originally planned in Washington DC, but I’m still planning on going. Still have to book my plane ticket, so I hope it’s not going to run me a million bucks!

But all that aside, it was good to reflect on my life and the direction it’s taking. What was unexpected was the outpouring of love and support from good friends who I can bounce things off of from time to time. And I am lucky enough to have a few, just a few - REALLY GOOD FRIENDS - and a wonderful husband who cares deeply about me, in spite of my being a bitch and putting him through unnecessary drama, as I am prone to do.

So I guess what I’m trying to say here is - for the next week or so I will be lightly blogging, if blogging at all, and paying attention to the things in life that really matter.

I’m going to re-evaluate school and whether or not I want to continue pursuing it, - but for right now, I have to catch up on that work, and do some of those simple things like cook meals and sit down to dinner with my loved ones.

My older son returned from Iraq today, and he will need some attention, too.

Thank you all for visiting, reading, and particularly those who are participating on the frozen shoulder syndrome thread….

It’s a wonderful thing to have a rich life full of great caring people who worry about you when things are going wrong, and celebrate with you when things are going right. Any way you look at it, it’s when times are the darkest, it’s when times are the toughest that you really know who your friends are. And for all of you in the blogosphere who do that for me, whether I’ve met you or not, thank you.

And so, BACK TO WORK/LIFE!/LOVE!
