Winter soldier accounts…no details!

It’s very odd when going through This Ain’t Hell and TSO’s accounts so far of the ‘atrocities’ that were witnessed by the IVAW members….there seems to be a whole lot of generalizing, and very little specific accounting which include names and dates.

An interesting observation that TSO made here is–these don’t appear to be veterans from OEF or OIF:

Incidently, for those playing at home, the demographic in this room is decidedly not OEF/OIF. Lilyea and I are counting heads, and there appear to be 4-8 people who might have served in the war. Most the people in here may have been young enough to fight in Nam, but I kinda doubt that. This crowd was following the Grateful Dead in 1968.

jihadists murder Chaldean Archbishop; bury in shallow grave

Filed under: Afghanistan, Iraq & Military @ 5:02 pm

He didn’t have his heart medication and died in captivity. It isn’t only this one Archbishop that points to a problem, either.

In June Father Ragheed Gani and three deacons were murdered, two priests were kidnapped in October, and in January four churches and a convent were bombed.

“When Archbishop Rahho was kidnapped nearly two weeks ago his driver and two companions were shot dead. Now, he has been killed.

What I find somewhat puzzling is how the media clamors for Bush to do something to protect the Christians in Iraq. Perhaps the Iraqis themselves should do something…it’s their country; and the Chaldeans are very old in Iraq - they are a very old Christian community in the land of the two rivers-since some time in the mid 1500’s.

I’ve seen reports that tell the story that these jihadists were trying to get Iraq’s Christians to arm themselves and oppose the Coalition forces.

Perhaps that would make everyone feel better about jihadists…if Christians were found doing the same thing.

The problem is, the Bible doesn’t give them the same motivation as the Koran.

Mom: I’m no child abuser

Yeah, Illinois is getting wackier and wackier, thanks to guys like Barack Obama and Richard Daley…and other loony leftists like Dick Durbin the Turban.

Coyne, 36, was arrested Dec. 8 outside a Crestwood Wal-Mart after a police officer found her 2-year-old daughter Phoebe asleep in her locked station wagon. While Phoebe slept, Coyne took her two other daughters and a friend to donate change to the Salvation Army bell ringer outside the store.

Surveillance video showed she was away from the car less than four minutes and never went in the store. The car was always in her sight. A Crestwood police officer arrested her, cuffing her and placing her in the back of a squad car while the three older children stood under a Wal-Mart awning, confused and crying during a sleet storm.

How nice of them to subject this young family to this abuse…right before the holidays.

Coyne was charged with child endangerment and resisting arrest, which the Cook County state’s attorney’s office dropped Thursday in court in Bridgeview. If she had been convicted, she would have faced a maximum penalty of a year in jail or a $2,500 fine.

Wait a minute. Court was in Bridgeview? That seems rather odd to me….considering what I’ve been learning lately about the Bridgeview Mosque Foundation and its connections to Hamas…and Daley, etc.-

The family’s holidays and days since were dampened by the criminal charges hanging over Coyne.

“They stole our Christmas,” said Tim Janecyk, her husband.

One has to wonder if that was the intent.

“It’s hard being labeled a child abuser, bad parent and lawbreaker when I am none of these,” Coyne added.

hmmmm….

Our troops deserve better…

We are officially at war with these people at home, because Berkeley is just the tip of the iceberg read the article written by Melanie Morgan at Worldnetdaily. Here are two quotes from it that are scaring the crap out of me:

Eight gunshots were fired at the recruiting office in Denver, Colo. A bomb was planted at the recruiting center in St. Louis. Human blood was splattered across a recruiting office in Ithaca, N.Y. Manure or feces were smeared on the offices of Toledo, Ohio, and Milwaukee, Wis. Recruiters cars have been firebombed in Alabama and Maryland.

If a recruiting center in your neighborhood hasn’t been targeted yet, give it time; the “peace” crowd, led by groups such as “Funk the War,” “War is S***,” and “The World Can’t Wait,” will likely bring their campaign of violence against our troops to your hometown pretty quickly.

I’ve been looking up my local recruiters offices…I think I should be paying them visits with simple gifts of coffee and donuts or something.

here’s a warning to all of us from POG, an anarchist group in Pittsburgh, Pa.

“On Wednesday, March 19, POG will be holding a torch-lit march to a modern-day castle of abominations – our local military recruiting station. If the station remains open, we intend to evict it and everything inside of it, occupy the location, and transform it into something useful for the community. We’ll also be bringing a movable cage in which to confine military recruiters until they no longer pose a danger to our friends and neighbors.”

Earlier today I was wondering why Knappenberger, the fellow who called for Michelle Malkin’s assassination, is still writing at the Wobbly Nomad.

I think we have our answer…wobblies were turn of the century anarachists. It appears as though there is some hidden meaning in his name…and he is living up to it.

my dog and the irish sodabread

Filed under: General @ 5:13 am

irishsodabread.jpg

Dogs are sweet, generally. Mine is a 12-year-old oversized sheltie, weighing in at about 50 pounds, and he’s the biggest most loving sweetheart in the world. He’s gorgeous and looks like a small collie…with lassie-like coloring…and he’s been through obedience, flyball and agility training. He just loves to do stuff.

And we love him to pieces…although it appears now as though he’s been bored.

Because he’s a dog..and it’s winter, and he has arthritis now… and he lives in dogworld, which means…he’s a food thief. Dogs in packs steal food from each other; it’s what they do. And they seem to be interested in food that belongs to others simply because it’s THERE…not because they’re hungry.

Yesterday I brought home numerous fixings in order to put together a St. Patrick’s Day feast of corned beef, new potatoes, carrots, etc.–along with the customary Irish Sodabread. I even downloaded a simple recipe for it, in the event I felt unusually motivated…but bought a loaf of sodabread in the event that I didn’t get to it.

And I put it on the kitchen counter, thinking it would be safe there.

In the past, Kirby has pilfered crackers from the countertop….but he hasn’t grabbed anything from there for quite some time, so I thought the sodabread was safe.

NOT.

He woke us up in the middle of the night, panting in distress, banging at our door, because his waterbowl was empty. My husband couldn’t figure out why the dog was so thirsty.

And then he found a wrapper on the floor…and I looked on the counter where the sodabread was…and it was GONE.

The little canine thief had eaten the whole loaf.

There was an old story in the family about a dog that had eaten bread that was rising…and the dog was in immense distress because the bread finished rising in its stomach before going through his system.

At least Kirby didn’t have to go through THAT…because this was already cooked.

Yet I still wonder what the fascination is in dogworld for BREAD. Particularly bread with raisins in it.

Anyone?

Obama: Islam’s a wink and a nod ;)

THE AMERICAN MUSLIM COMMUNITY’S OBAMA PROBLEM Islamica Magazine

In many ways he represents more than Muslims could have hoped for given the radioactive nature of Islam in America over the past several years.

For many reasons, Muslims are one constituency Obama does not want to court. With a wink and a nod, Obama’s Muslim supporters continue to work for a candidate who cannot afford to wink back at them.

Given his perceived “closeness” to Islam, and the fact that he shares a name with a former Iraqi dictator, it could be strategic suicide for the Obama campaign to vocally acknowledge organized Muslim support.

From ‘The Audacity of Hope’, “I will stand with the Muslims should the political winds shift in an ugly direction.”
