The summer soldier

Filed under: Afghanistan, Iraq & Military @ 9:29 pm
“These are the times that try men’s souls: The summer soldier and the sunshine patriot will, in this crisis, shrink from the service of his country; but he that stands it Now, deserves the love and thanks of man and woman. Tyranny, like hell, is not easily conquered; yet we have this consolation with us, that the harder the conflict the more glorius the triumph.”
~Thomas Paine, The Crisis — December 1776

Those ‘testifying’ if you want to call it that-at Winter Soldier II…are not Winter soldiers at all. Those are people who are comparing civilian life with that of a soldier, and complaining about how tough it is.

These are summer soldiers and sunshine patriots…who disappeared and faded away with other anti-war demonstrators while over 100 true patriots–the REAL WINTER SOLDIERS stood outside.

A prayer for Jack Idema from Fahim:

You fought for the people who were left so behind..You fought for the women who were treated like slaves…You fought for the children who were sexually attacked….You fought for a country and freed it as well…You fought for America to stop the terror…I will pray for you Jack, with my every breath…You are a hero and will be always.

It is customary on Sundays for me to offer up a prayer for Jack and Brent and that they’re both able to return home to the United States safely and without repurcussions from our government for doing the job they were sent to do…

If they’re not appreciated by our own government, it is good to know that Afghanistanis appreciate them for what they did and how they sacrificed for the people and women of Afghanistan.

Nice, heh?

As if Obama doesn’t have enough problems with his campaign erasing Jeremiah Wright from his website...or the legality of preachers endorsing presidential candidates.

Halabja

Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki is participating in the ceremonies for the 20th anniversary of the Halabja massacre.

Al-Maliki will reveal a monument to Omar Khawar, memorializing those who died horribly from Saddam Hussein’s chemical attacks–modelled after the Final Solution.

Khawar is the Kurdish man whose picture drawn as a man embracing his dead child killed by Saddam Hussein’s Halabj chemical gas attack against the Kurds in 1988, is known as the epitome of the massive human disaster.

Outskirts Press Announces Seventh Psalm, the Latest Highly-Anticipated Action & Adventure Book from Destrehan, LA, Author Jonathan Bruce

About the Book (Excerpts & Info here)

Terror attacks in New York and England generate a three-continent search for the terrorist leader who has assumed Osama bin Laden’s role as the “world’s most wanted.” The pursuit is joined by a battle-hardened British SAS officer and his beautiful cohort from Israel’s ultra-secret Shin Bet. The pair join forces in the chase for the terrorists and Iraq’s missing cache of WMD, as U.S. Air Force F-15s swarm into battle and Israeli tanks blast into action against new and unexpected enemies. Seventh Psalm races from the shifting battle lines in the war on terror to the ravages of war-torn Sudan-all with shocking results that leap from the headlines of tomorrow’s New York Times.

Deftly constructed at 608 pages, Seventh Psalm is being aggressively promoted to appropriate markets with a focus on the Action & Adventure category. With U.S. wholesale distribution through Ingram and Baker & Taylor, and pervasive online availability through Amazon, Barnes & Noble and elsewhere, Seventh Psalm meets consumer demand through both retail and library markets with a suggested retail price of $21.95.

I had some feedback yesterday from a guy who spent some money to get to an internet cafe to listen. The complaint was - he was hearing the show twice.

So here’s my suggestion-make sure that you don’t have several windows open - otherwise when the show comes on, you’ll hear it from the different windows you have open.

Also, if you want to participate in the chat, it would behoove you to get an account - even if you don’t have a show. That way you can have a name other than ‘guest’ and actually comment in the chatroom.

Winter Soldier II, MAF expose of anti-war people, Veterans for Freedom Heroes Tour

I’ve been trying to piece together all that has happened over the last few days, from the wonderful blogtalk radio programs such as A Newt One at American Truth Warriors, and Paul Couturier at Independently Correct Radio, and their live after action reports from DC and what happened in the streets outside Winter Soldier II…which we watched over live feed yesterday with the White House in the background.

Then there were the inside reports from Silver Springs Maryland-from This Ain’t Hell and TSO over at the Sniper. TSO and Jonn were very tightly controlled, and their blogs were monitored. TSO had at one point six escorts; just in order to go to the bathroom. While Al Jazeera and the Washington Post were allowed to run around in total freedom, the guys from our side were kept in the back of the room with security. It just seems totally one-sided and opposite the values we’re fighting to protect.

Read

“Welcome gto WSII. Who are you with? Get the F*** off our property now! Security!”

For all their complaining about ‘free speech’ these people don’t give ‘freedom’ to people who disagree with them…

Had to go potty, which neccessitates escort. (I was allowed to go in on my own.)

Walking back with the private goon (jk) run into Wash Post reporter (Vogel?) interviewing Vets For Peace guy. So I say hey, just wanted to let you know that the “so called hostile bloggers” are in the back row in case you want to talk to us and provide some balance.

We waves me off and says no.

..they seem only concerned with their selfish ability to talk sedition without being touched, held accountable, or having to name names and dates.

Then there’s Michelle Malkin reporting Melanie Morgan’s interesting brush with Code Pink in front of the National Press Corps when MAF revealed the expose on what the anti-war people are really accomplishing. What they are really accomplishing is far an away what any stretch of the imagination could construe as a ‘peace’ movement.

Melanie:

We at Move America Forward were releasing our investigative report on the nationwide plague of attacks against military recruiting centers. (The Sedition Report)

Congressman John Carter (co-sponsor of the Semper Fi Act) was there speaking. So too was Debbie Lee, mother of the 1st Navy Seal killed in Iraq.

Then, midway through the news conference, members of Code Pink, International ANSWER and Global Exchange start heckling, screaming, yelling.

They said our claims of improper actions by anti-war radicals were all lies, that the anti-military activists have been nothing but peaceful.

They tried to shout down our speakers, and when we asked for security to remove them they refused to go, resulting in the forced eviction by security - despite their efforts to physically resist being removed.

Congressman Carter was whisked out for his safety and then the anti-war radicals chased down Congressman Carter’s staff. Soon thereafter as I was walking to another appointment I found myself stalked by the radicals who pulled up in a car yelling obscenities at me for daring to report on their disgusting conduct.

These people proved our point today! They did exactly what we’ve accused them of doing at military recruiting centers when they storm in, occupy the office, halt the work of recruiters and refuse to leave.

What angers me most is that these people don’t stop there. They’ve planted bombs at recruiting centers (not just Times Square but St. Lous too!). They pumped eight rounds of gunfire into the Denver military recruiting center. They’ve set fire to recruiting centers in San Jose, CA and Asheville, NC.

And that’s just the tip of the iceberg. The complete report - including citation where their supporters cheer on the acts of violence - and our new national ad campaign focusing on this issue are at the Move America Forward website: http://www.MoveAmericaForward.org

I’m attaching a photo of one of the anti-war radicals who stood up, stripped off his clothes to reveal a pink jacket, and began screaming down our speakers at the news conference.

Folks - we struck a nerve. These people DO NOT want their seditious behavior exposed. Well, that makes me even MORE determined to do just that, and I know it will have the same effect on you as well!

And then..there is the last part, which is really the best part: what’s going on on the West Coast right now…the Veterans for Freedom National Heroes Tour.

See the schedule, here.

In some ways I wish some people/bloggers were a little less selfish about promoting themselves, and more interested in promoting the bigger story that needs to be told.
