Using the phraseology that someone like a Keith Olbermann would use, saying that “defend our freedoms” is just a brand name. Or like Obama would say, “just words”, he quotes from Weitzel’s piece:
On October 23, 2006 a U.S. soldier or marine peered through the telescopic sight of his M24 sniper rifle and trained it on the face of Nora, a five-year-old Iraqi girl. Her pretty face was close enough to kiss. Instead, he squeezed the trigger and sent a 7.62 round slamming into her skull. The medical report read, “Nora sustained an explosive bullet injury to her head that smashed the skull bones and ruptured her cerebral membrane.” Nora survived the sniper’s bullet.
He peered through his telescopic sight when she was close enough to kiss? HUH? A U.S. soldier OR marine? Which was it? What was his name? What was his MOS? Why was he using an M24 on a little girl so close he could have kissed her? How is that possible (even if it’s a figure of speech and not literal?)? How is it possible he hit her when -if you take this literally- she was too close to shoot considering the length of the weapon? Many Regular Army units were still awaiting their M-24s when the war broke out, and virtually none of them had entered Reserve or National Guard units. So what branch was it??? If his M24 was fitted with a 7.62mm NATO caliber instead of a .300 Winchester Magnum, wouldn’t he have blown her brains out at close range? It would have made a small hole going in, and a big hole on the way out. The barrel of a gun like this is 24.1 inches long…In any event, I doubt she would have survived a shot to the skull at close range (and that’s what it sounds like)….even if he bent the barrel so that it was possible to shoot her. Snipers shoot at long range targets, this guy should go back to the drawing board with his stupidity; it’s just not plausible or believable.
Snipers and other military personnel are not trained to murder children, although that’s the IVAW template for a good story–murdering innocent civilians, just as it was in Kerry’s day when he testified as a spokesman for the VVAW -in the fashion of Ghenghis Khan (LOL); we are taking the most pains to protect women and children - even if they’re families of insurgents. What were the circumstances around this? There isn’t enough information here. What city was it in? This could have been anywhere in the WORLD…and the “soldier” could have been with any army. For all we know it was Cuba! And it would be more likely to be out of Cuba, wouldn’t it…that sounds like something Che Guevara would have done. Only he would have made her kneel, and bound her first. And probably gagged her so she couldn’t object.
The medical report was written by who? What hospital was she taken to? “Nora sustained an explosive bullet injury to her head that smashed the skull bones and ruptured her cerebral membrane.” Does this sound like something written by a medic or a doctor?
Unbeknownst to Weitzel, the skull’s bones have names, and a doctor would have mentioned the entry and exit points, the prognosis for recovery, etc.
Miraculously according to this piece of Weitzel fiction, little Nora survived the “sniper’s” bullet. So how is she today? Whether or not the shooter in Weitzel’s fantasy was a marine or a soldier, we do not know. Where this was, we do not know. This sounds more like the story from a terrorist after he’d chewed on some khat….stories like these, oftentimes, like the Haditha marines story, turn out to be untrue with quite a bit of creative license and embellishment applied. In the Haditha story, they took a REALLY LONG TIME before they produced the photos and backup documentation, and the families refused to allow the bodies to be exhumed or examined. Forensics, after all, would tell the TRUTH.
That was because the accusers fingered some actual people with the assault. In this piece of fiction, it’s just the ‘evil military’–we don’t even know what branch. Devastatingly stupid so far, isn’t it?
But, since Weitzel has all the moonbats drooling for more Anti-American hatred at this point, he abruptly changes the subject from the shocking and disturbing story of Nora. We don’t know what happened to her, how she is living today with her devastating injury, if she can speak, walk, or take care of herself. All of these things would be important details to figure out if this story had any merit.
During the battle for Falluja in 2004, U.S. snipers positioned themselves on rooftops covering the entrance to the only hospital still in operation, creating what locals called “sniper alley.” Iraqi men, women, and children seeking medical treatment were fired on. Ambulances delivering patients and supplies were fired on. Unlike Nora, many did not survive the sniper’s bullet.
Ambulances are known to be used by terrorists just like mosques have been used to produce car bombs, so this is hardly something I’m inclined to believe.

So we’ve been taken from a dramatic story with little detail with no dates or even location - to back 4 years to Fallujah with still very little detail except we know there was a battle with insurgents. How many men, women and children sought medical attention and were fired on? We don’t know. Who were these men, women and children? Were they terrorists and their families? That’s what it sounds like, because the Iraqi people were warned well ahead of the battle of Fallujah what was about to happen, and to get the hell out of there. This is confirmed by Army Lt. Gen. Thomas F. Metz, who said in 2004- “We felt going in that at least half, if not 75 percent, of the citizens have left Fallujah.”. Not many of the remaining civilians had been seen on the street, he added, attributing that to the curfew imposed by interim Iraqi Prime Minister Ayad Allawi. With 2-3,000 insurgents who presumably were there with their families to use their women and children as shields, there still could have been some innocents that the terrorists were intentionally putting in harm’s way - but you can hardly blame the US military for their tactics.
Baghdad, Iraq-July, 2007-[…]During the engagement, armed terrorists gathered on the roof of one building and brought several women and children to their fighting positions as human shields. Coalition Forces took extensive precautions to preserve the safety of the women and children. When the terrorists finally released the civilians, Coalition Forces escorted them to a safe area away from the fighting.
February, 2008-Last week, Iraqi terrorists outfitted two Muslim women with Down syndrome with IEDs and dispatched them into a busy al-Ghazi pet market in Baghdad’s Jadida section. When the women reached a location where their bomb-laden bodies would cause the greatest carnage, the IEDs were detonated remotely by a cowardly Islamic radical. Apparently, al-Qaida is running short of mentally competent volunteers who want to murder fellow Muslims in the process of becoming “martyrs” for Allah.
[…]Using the handicapped, women and children for terror is nothing new for Islamic radicals. During the January 2005 Iraqi parliamentary elections, al-Qaida used a child with Down syndrome to carry out one of 38 suicide attacks at polling stations that left more than 40 people dead. In March 2005, terrorists detonated an explosives-rigged vehicle with two children in the back seat after U.S. soldiers let it through a Baghdad checkpoint. The vehicle had been allowed to pass when soldiers saw the children and became less suspicious. Once the vehicle got through the checkpoint, the adults parked it and ran, detonating the car with the children inside.
In late November 2005, a young mentally disabled woman was used by al-Qaida to detonate an explosive belt, killing herself and seven other innocent Iraqis, including a child. When coalition forces moved to disrupt al-Qaida networks operating in Diyala province in central Iraq Jan. 30, they encountered armed terrorists using women and children as human shields. According to Maj. Gen. Kevin Bergner, “Al-Qaida in Iraq not only targets women and children but as we are witnessing in recent months, they also prey on their innocence and have used them as suicide bombers.”
So much for the courageous fighters that Robert and Meatbrain defend, and these kinds of stories are seemingly endless.
Does this disconnect seem at all rational? Iraqi civilians were warned to get out of Fallujah before the battle had begun. The people who were left were those that DELIBERATELY CHOSE TO STAY; and I would wager that-at least some of the women and children-were staying with their jihadis–like the family of Zarqawi did. And like Qusay Hussein’s teenage son, Mustapha did. If they’re stupid enough to deliberately put their people in harm’s way when they’ve been warned what is about to happen, then…you can bet the aftermath will be used in a vague story by someone like Weitzel, and linked-to by a clueless moonbat like Meatbrain.
All three examples seem not only far-fetched, but a weird concoction of made-up lies.
On May 30, 2006 Nabiha Nisaif Jasiam and her cousin, Saliha Mohammed Hassen were shot from behind by a U.S. sniper as they drove to Samarra General hospital. Nabiha was about to deliver her third child. Neither survived the sniper’s bullet.
No U.S. president or general or lowly lieutenant acknowledged, much less apologized, for these illegal and immoral shootings. No sniper was held accountable.
Nobody was acknowledged because it didn’t happen. Interestingly enough, though, it appears this dude took a little creative license. He might have picked the idea up and embellished on it from a World Socialist website post/article from a supposed “massacre” that happened in 2003.
Woops, notice now he changes the subject and dates once again, to this incident where he finally provides some specificity. We may have names, a date, the city and “a U.S. sniper”, although we don’t know the branch again–we do know that the very same words were printed at Counterpunch, Common dreams, the Smirking Chimp, the Dissident Voice, One Thousand Reasons, Atlantic Free Press. There seems to be a circle of people who are congratulating Weitzel for making this all up, although it would be nice to see at least one fact that is verifiable.
Predictably, Meatbrain needs to finish all this BS off with a sweeping dramatic flourish of his own:
The wounds we have inflicted on the Iraqi people and their society are deep and penetrating. It will require generations to repair that society. One can only hope that a future US will do all it can to make amends for the terrible damage we have done to the Iraqi people.
The irresponsible lies of the left have done incredible damage to the morale of people who are trying to do the right thing by the Iraqi people. Shame on both meatbrain and Weitzel for spreading this BS.

I’m sure meatbrain is hoping that Obama will start negotiating with terrorist states like Iran- so that he can watch our nation give the world welfare, like Obama has tried to do, with George Soros’ blessing.
Story 1 is not verifiable. Story 2 about Fallujah is weak at best, and story 3 is STILL unverifiable…although I’m hoping that anyone reading could forward this post to people who could let me know what actually happened. The story of Nora, with no context, date, city, branch of service, etc., is not worth the cyberspace it was written in.
I’m wondering if they got this stuff originally from Al Jazeera…since it’s virtually ‘the voice of Al Qaeda and virulently anti-American moonbats like Mike Whitney write for it; joining forces with the terrorists who want to destroy America. Or maybe he just picks up a bong and waits for inspiration while he watches jihadi videos on youtube of jihadists murdering American GI’s. Or maybe he has the Nick Berg beheading and he just watches that over and over again, repeating in a stupor “what do they hate us?” If he had the transcription of the Nick Berg tape, he’d have an inkling.

Many Fallujans initially welcomed Zarqawi and his lieutenants as liberators from the hated American occupiers. But the jihadists did not fight for freedom. Instead, they enforced Islamic law at the point of a gun, establishing a brand of fascism even worse than Saddam’s. They murdered sheikhs who opposed them. They butchered their enemies’ families, burning women alive and slashing children’s throats with kitchen knives, and massacred other families for accepting food from Marines. City officials, tribal authorities, police officers—anyone in charge of anything was targeted for destruction.
I guess Saddam’s regime-or worse- is what Meabrain longs for in Iraq. He doesn’t want to recognize any progress, like Obama doesn’t - his response to the laments of his terrorist buddies is to support their slashing children’s throats with kitchen knives, baking babies, and other methods of fearmongering and oppression against Iraqis. And of course the vicious chemical campaign that was waged against the kurds. Who cares? He murdered his own people! (Meatbrain and leftists don’t make a lot of sense to me. If they really cared, as they claim, they’d talk with the people who would know - who’d actually been there - instead of inventing stories like these for applauding Soviet-style marxists, maoists, and other totalitarian terrorist supporting moonbats.)

She was cured, but the Miriam Appeal marches on, and as far as I know, still collects funds - so gorgeous George can pay his limo driver.
