cell phones

Filed under: General @ 7:57 pm

talkingonthephone.pngYou see them in traffic, when people are making dumb moves in their cars - and when you get close enough, you realize the moron is on the phone.

I almost got into an accident with a young lady who was pulling out of a gas station, and when I turned to figure out why she just abut plowed right into me, I realized it was because she was on her cell phone.

This kind of thing is happening a lot in traffic, but it happens when you’re not in traffic, too, as this photo illustrates.

A few days ago, I was outside with my camera, and had to get a few shots of this lady walking down the street. She never even switched the cell phone from one hand to the other. And how that little girl held on - is beyond me…she looked like she should have fallen off. But this lady walked down two city blocks before the little girl got down…and when her sister started to bother her, she wanted her mom to pick her back up.

It seemed to me that this little girl is way too big to be carried around like a baby, anyway…

But even though the older girl was encouraging the younger one to walk on her own two feet, the mother didn’t address what was going on between the children because she was yacking on the phone.

I’ve seen people pick up phone calls when they’re waiting in line at the grocery store, but - I think the traffic examples - and the examples of mothers who should be paying attention to their children and instead are on their phones - are better examples of why people should be using better judgment where their phone conversations are concerned.

There was a time in the not-so-distant past when you had to be at home to get a phone call.

Now people are so afraid they’re going to miss the latest gossip, or - are busy running from one place to the next and have to get on that conference call….

We have lost something important with all of this technology we’re using.

progressive latinos bus

When I was on my way to work the other day, there was a big hulk of a bus painted like the latino version of the Partridge Family bus, barreling down the street in front of me. Luckily, it turned, so I could get a picture of it.

Unfortunately, the website was obscured, but I’d sure like to know what this is all about, and why they need an EMPTY BUS traveling around like a billboard for their cause…

And I can only imagine what that cause is.

Holocaust museum removes Mufti whitewash

From Robert Spencer at Dhimmi Watch and Holocaust Museum Watch:

“U.S. Holocaust Museum Removes Falsified Biography of Mufti of Jerusalem,”

The U.S. Holocaust Museum (USHMM) today removed from its website the falsified biography of the Holocaust era Mufti of Jerusalem. The Museum was criticized for blurring the line between facts and opinion, and in so doing, opening the door to Holocaust denial.

The father of Palestinian nationalism, the Mufti of Jerusalem, Haj Amin al-Hussayni, was a terrorist and a Nazi collaborator, indicted at the Eichmann Trial. The Museum wrote a web biography which presented al-Hussayni as a moderate supporter of non-violence. Falsifying and omitting key facts from the historical record, including photographs of Hussayni conferring with Hitler, the Holocaust Museum attempted to exonerate him from well documented charges of Nazi collaboration. The Museum’s website stated that his “controversial…relationship with Hitler’s government…has led some to label him a Nazi collaborator and war criminal….”

Within hours of the widespread dissemination to the press and public of HMWatch’s press release describing the Museum’s whitewash of the Mufti, the Museum removed the article.

The Museum still does NOT have in its archives the infamous November 28, 1941 photograph of the Mufti meeting with Hitler when he obtained Hitler’s assurance to exterminate the Jews of the Middle East. Nor does the Museum have a factual biography of the Mufti and his role in creating the Nazi-Palestinian alliance.

There are direct historical links between the Nazis, the Final Solution, Husayni, the Muslim Brotherhood and Al Qaeda. The Museum chose to falsify these historical roots in the Mufti’s biography because the Museum is determined to be silent about current Muslim anti-Semitism and its connection to Nazism….

Ruling over the “All-Palestine” government (in fact confined to the Egyptian-occupied Gaza strip) the Mufti clings to a vestige of power. Hitler had assured him he would rule as Fuehrer of the Arabs and implement a Final Solution on the Jews of Palestine. (from here -I don’t see permalinks on the page)

HEROES VOTE!

Filed under: Afghanistan, Iraq & Military @ 5:37 pm

This is an interesting issue that Mel is starting to bring to the fore and concerned citizens should be paying attention to. MAF has kicked off their Heroes Vote! program after finding out that there seems to be a campaign to get convicted felons to vote, while there are negligible efforts to help our military personnel to have the same opportunity.

Most state governments, and to a large extent the Federal Government (Department of Defense) have been largely ineffective in getting troops the proper information in a timely fashion so that they can successfully vote.

As a result MAF put together the HEROES VOTE packet which includes vital information on absentee voting, voting online, critical contact information for election officials and a registration card that works for any state.

With your contributions, we will shortly begin sending 5 or 10 of these packets to our care package recipients in Iraq and Afghanistan so that regardless of what state our troops originate from, they will be able to vote in this next important election!

Looking for a good graphic to represent this noble effort.
