I’m off to the taproot picnic

Hope to have pictures and maybe video to upload later on.

Taproot stands for Traditions And Principles Republicans Often Overlook Today

The speaker is to be Rosanna Pulido, an Hispanic who is adamantly opposed to “open borders,” and an activist.

woohoo!

This is a reportedly staunchly conservative group, and I will be blessed to meet them at their picnic in Westmont this afternoon.

More to follow.

I just found a little more on this event at this website:

‘TAPROOT‘ stands for: Traditions And Principles Republicans Often Overlook Today

Taproot is a volunteer group of concerned Republicans dedicated to: Belief in God • A free society • The free enterprise system • Less government • Lower Taxes • A strong defense • The rights of individuals

Conservative activists from the DuPage County area will hold their annual picnic August 17 in Westmont. TAPROOT is proud to announce that our special guest is Rosanna Pulido, dynamic defender of US borders. In the past, Republican like Joe Birkett, Jim Oberweis, Tom Roeser, Jim Nalepa, Patti Bellock, Bob Biggins, and John Cox “pressed the flesh” and addressed the crowd. Radio host and newspaper columnist Tom Roeser gave the key-note speech a few years ago. The Warrior Princess, herself, Teri O’Brien, regaled us with her commentary last year.

The picnic will run from 2 pm to 5 pm, Sunday, August 17, at Twin Lakes Park in Westmont. It is on 55th Street between Fairview and Cass Avenues, at Williams St., in Westmont. TAPROOT will supply soft drinks and charcoal. Picnickers should bring their own meat, a dish share and extra chairs.

Bring your friends. Bring your kids, they can play volley ball in the sand court. Contact: Dave 630-653-0462 or George 630-393-6401; www.taprootgop.org.

Will I have an opportunity to meet the infamous and very well-respected celebrity, Teri O’Brien? Stay tuned!

Update: There was a relatively small turnout, but the members were enthusiastic for what Rosanna had to say.

I’ll download and try to edit a little bit of her talk.

Technical difficulties are forcing a delay in my putting up the video, but it should be up in the next few days.

The bubbleshare album is from the photos I took today.

I will put the youtube video up in another post when it’s ready.

NYT tries to torpedo anti-Obama book: ploy backfires

Filed under: General , Obama @ 8:05 am

obamanationsmall.pngCorsi’s new blockbuster book is flying off the shelves, which is a hoot as compared to 9% Nancy’s book. Blog posts have sprung up everywhere, speculating as to the reasons for its success. The smears on the book and on Corsi himself have achieved the complete opposite effect of what they were intended.

John Kerry sent out an email blast, irritated, I guess, that Corsi, the author of “Unfit for Command” would pen another book outlining the leftist politics and cult of personality of the rockstar candidate whose platform includes the empty words promising “hope” and “change”, and whose sychophants parrot the “si si puede” of Cesar Chavez and the United Farm Workers Organization.

Even the New York Times came out with an article that points out that democrats themselves would like more clarification on where Obama really stands on the issues, so it would seem that the book has had a tremendous effect already!

Althouse: Jerome R. Corsi’s #1 bestseller “The Obama Nation: Leftist Politics and the Cult of Personality.”

But the Obama campaign made a big deal about how they were not going to let themselves be “Swift Boated.” The “Fight the Smears” web site was supposed to jump on everything right away. Now, they’re weaseling about not wanting to draw attention to the book? That’s a complete contradiction…. which has to make us think that they don’t have answers to the charges.

It’s the same exact excuse they made for not including Larry Sinclair’s allegations of homosexual sex and cocaine use in 1999 - while Obama was Illinois Senator…after he’d claimed he’d discontinued his drug use much earlier. They can’t see, apparently, that they’re swiftboating themselves, and with the help of John Kerry himself.

Roger Kimball’s post from August 13th entitled “NY Times tries to torpedo anti-Obama book; succeeds in spreading its message” adds a little more to this ironic situation:

Oh dear, Oh dear, Oh dear. Jerome Corsi, author of the bestselling Unfit for Command in 2004, a book that turned the phrase “swift boat” into a verb and helped defeat John “Reporting for Duty” Kerry, has written a new book about Barack Hussein Obama (yes, I know I am not supposed to mention his middle name, but I am going to anyway) called The Obama Nation: Leftist Politics and the Cult of Personality. It’s officially published only today (you can order it from Amazon here), but already it is # 1 on The New York Times bestseller list with 475,000 copies in print so far. The Times, naturally, is in a swivet lest Corsi’s book undermine The Messiah’s planned advent in November and they have wheeled into print with a longish dismissal masquerading as a review today. “Significant parts of the book,” the authors write (the Times requires two reviewers when a serious demolition job is commissioned), “have already been challenged as misleading or false in the days since its debut on Aug. 1.”

It’s no wonder they’re pulling out all the stops, but what is funny is they don’t seem to realize that they’re giving the book more publicity than if they’d said nothing. They’re not “fighting the smears”, they’re promoting the truth - inadvertently. You can bet that whatever the Obamablognots are fighting against, we should support - and whatever it is they’re saying - the opposite is true. As Evan Sayet said, today’s liberal tends to be on the wrong side of every issue; it’s something we don’t have to think about much anymore.

Kender always said…”controversy=cash” - it sure is.

Smash on, victory-eating red army! - Frank Marshall Davis

bwahahahahaha! Smash on, you lefty Obamablognot idiots, smash on. Smash your candidate into oblivion and failure - you have less than three months left to sink your own swiftboat; and you’re doing a bang-up job with it so far.

9% Nancy and the democrat-controlled congress are achieving much the same level of success, but there’s no surprise on that score, either.

That Fight the Smears website has turned out to be the butt of the joke…and will be a laughing stock for years to come.

Notice how both anti-Obama books are in the top 5 on the NYT Best Sellers List for hardcover nonfiction. That says it all.

Is Barack Obama an “empty suit”?

Filed under: General , Obama @ 6:36 am

Some have thought that for quite some time, but Noel Shephard at Newsbusters examines an article that surprisingly enough, will be appearing on the front page of the New York Times - that indicates that the New York Times thinks so. Highlights:

These Democrats — 15 governors, members of Congress and state party leaders — say Mr. Obama has yet to convert his popularity among many Americans into solutions to crucial electoral challenges: showing ownership of an issue, like economic stewardship or national security; winning over supporters of Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton; and minimizing his race and experience level as concerns for voters.

That’s where they have a problem; just as it is with 9% Nancy, democrats aren’t about solutions; they’re about throwing more money at failed government policies and inventing new reasong to grow government bigger. I liked the citizen storm trooper idea that Obama had that was a throwback to Hitler’s stormtroopers.

Democrats just like to play the blame game, and their “blame Bush” strategy, although nonsensical, has gained quite a bit of traction. To imagine that the country’s problems are completely because of George Bush is an oversimplification–but that’s what they’re about–slogans.

Mr. Obama has run for the last 18 months as the candidate of hope. Yet party leaders — while enthusiastic about Mr. Obama and his state-by-state campaign operations — say he must do more to convince the many undecided Democrats and independents that he would address their financial anxieties rather than run, by and large, as an agent of change — given that change, they note, is not an issue.

Wow, that’s quite an admission from “party leaders”.

“I particularly hope he strengthens his economic message — even Senator Obama can speak more clearly and specifically about the kitchen-table, bread-and-butter issues like high energy costs,” said Gov. Ted Strickland of Ohio. “It’s fine to tell people about hope and change, but you have to have plenty of concrete, pragmatic ideas that bring hope and change to life.”

Or, in the blunter words of Gov. Phil Bredesen, Democrat of Tennessee: “Instead of giving big speeches at big stadiums, he needs to give straight-up 10-word answers to people at Wal-Mart about how he would improve their lives.”

You mean some voters don’t consider the hype, the rockstar image and the comparisons to Bono enough to vote for him?

Imagine that.

That is part of an article that is running on the front page of the New York Times.

Mark this day in history.

From the New York Times article, “Allies Ask Obama to Make ‘Hope’ More Specific”

I don’t think he’ll “change” because there is nothing behind the smoke and mirrors but….more smoke and mirrors. Nice try, though.

Personally I’d like to see more clarification about that pesky fake birth certificate and try to get down to the bottom of the natural-born citizen issue, which is a requirement for a presidential candidate. Having Indonesian, kenyan and US citizenship simultaneously seems to be quite a conflict of interest for someone running for POTUS, and appears to be a glaring violation of US Election law.

Ah but what do we care about rules, anyway, when Obama bloggers are spamming people from email addresses that don’t belong to them from Obama’s campaign website?

But when that light shines down on us that makes us realize we should vote for him, little details that might bother regular folks, like the lie about his never having been a muslim and the paperwork from his school in Indonesia that says he’s an Indonesian citizen and a muslim under the name Barry Soetoro - and the paperwork for the Illinois Supreme Court -where he lied and claimed no known aliases - will all evaporate into thin air.

Nevermind the fact that Gaddafi himself says that Obama is a muslim and has endorsed him, too! I didn’t notice the “smears” website mentioning that.

After all, the president needs to have star power, and the hype around that should erase any silly concerns we have about his communist mentors like convicted terrorist Richard C. Ayers and his wife Bernadine Dohrn, Frank Marshall Davis, etc., or the communist party’s endorsement, or Hamas’ endorsement, his links to Saddam’s Iraq through Rezko and the billionaire Auchi, and all the rest. Those things are hard to wrap your mind around, anyway. The focus should be on “si, si puede” - nevermind where that originates from!
